A really delightful biopic of Tony Savage. This is true homespun entertainment for that lovely breed of down to earth seaside devotees who've faded away. A lovely piece of nostalgia and very much in my lifetime. Thanks for posting.

Hi Andrew - Delighted you enjoyed this video. I certainly enjoyed my time in Summer Seasons both in Band Shows for Stanley Osborne (Organ, Dance Band & ME etc.) and solo at Skegness and Douglas IOM. Something that has just disappeared. Many Thanks for commenting - PAUL.

I grew up on Tony, the Lido, the Winter Gardens. I watch this with a tear in my eyes as I recall my childhood down there. My second home 26 Ethelbert Cresent. One thing I must do before I leave this world is go back and have a walk around.

You should go back and remember again those "Happy Days"!

@@ComptonLodgeStudios I find myself watching this again a year later. I was talking about Tony again tonight. I’m defiantly coming down soon before it’s too late. I can see myself standing there with tears in my eyes remembering my childhood days. I think Tony is the reason I play today. I always wanted to be like him.

    Superb Documentary.
Sad to see that most of the traditional UK seaside entertainment has gone now.
The North Pier In Blackpool Still maintains playing the organ for visitors and I think Scarborough too.
I just read that Tony Savage passed away about 10 years ago.
    RIP Tony.

Tony was a fabulous Musician, also played vibes. so many great performers at that time, Kay Nesbit, Peter Nesbit, every hotel had its band, as a young musician it was where it was at, I learnt so much a went on to earn my living from music, and the favourite instrument for me was the Hammond T. these days, a period, where entertainment was quality all the way

Paul I thoroughly enjoyed this. I started my first lounge job playing organ in 1965 when I was 18 and I played steady in cocktail lounges up into the 1990s until the curtain came down on the lounge organ scene. The past seven years I have been playing hymns in two churches but I am now again playing cocktail lounge music for the East Troy Railroad Museum for the hour before the dinner train starts. I never thought I would play lounge music professionaly again. In September I will be starting as a horse show organist. Now THAT will be interesting and it will present a definite challenge for me. I hope that works out for me. Gary

Hi Gary - Thrilled you enjoyed this video. Reminded me of my summer seasons at Aberystwyth Mid Wales, Skegness Lincolnshire and Douglas on the Isle of Man between 1970 and 1975. You sound as if you've had a pretty busy musical life. I started in the business in 1964 with Saturday night spots playing the Christie at the Granada Rugby, later played Gaumont State Kilburn and first dates for the Theatre Organ Club. Many Thanks for your welcome thoughts and memories. Good Luck with the lounge work. Cheers! PAUL.

I caught so many bass fishing off of the pipes it was crazy . In summer on rare occassions you had gin clear water and once whilst fishing from them i saw a mass feeding frenzy where bass and mackerel slaughtered a huge shoal of whitebait . It was like something you saw on telly . I remember once as well down by the harbor thousands of mackerel being washed up onto the road still flapping mad stuff .
