Even celebrities lose their shit when this man performs, He is truly the G.O.A.T.! We truly lost a special person the day God called him home. I greatly miss him and what he gave this world but am thankful we still have his music to listen to and videos such as this to watch 💜💜💜
If you asked maya what the best night of her life was… this would have to be up there. She is like the biggest prince fan. Has a prince cover band. Love her
LOL I completely agree. I read somewhere that she said she "practically shit herself" when she was told he would be performing that night. She said "he was so real and down to earth" but that also "he had enourmous energy that was arousing and profoundly intimidating" lol... Her account of the night was hilarious. But you can totally tell she was indeed *living her best life* on that night, and she will always remember it.
All my feelings are with the band who woke up that day not knowing they were going to play with Prince. That surreal feeling is not lost in this at all.
Fallon played the video shot by professional cameras and sound, but apparently Prince’s estate handlers have gotten removed from everywhere. Really sucks because it was amazing. This video sounds like garbage in comparison.
Prince dominated the world than. I saw him live. This was the after party of the SNL season and a party was at Jimmy Fallon's apartment in NYC. Anybody could get up on the stage and play. Fallon stated he was buzzed when someone whispered in his ear that Prince was there in the kitchen. He got on the mike and dared Prince to come up and play. He said the crowd separated and Prince did not walk up but glided up. Prince told Fallon since you dared me your singing backup.
I was at the San Jose, CA Musicology Tour concert. I kid you not….he opened with “Let’s Go Crazy” and stood in front of a big round spot light so all you could see was his silhouette….while he said, “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life”…. It was exactly how he did it in the movie Purple Rain. That….was one of the coolest moments I’ve ever experienced. My ex-girlfriend bought us tickets to that show as a Birthday present to me. Thank you Ruby. I’ll always have a place in my heart for you…for that.
For someone who doesn´t have a clue as to who all those dressed-up people around P and his band members are, this is kinda fun to watch :) Still miss the man of course.

One of my fave pieces of footage of all time. I have to come back to this every few months or so. Man I’d pay for 10 more mins of pure jamming. That girl who solo’d is on FIRE!!
What else has he done every single time? "Killing it"? Again what else does THE man do every time? Yep,,,,,kill it, but really really good that no one else can really do on the spot.
Minnesota and the world lost something special when Prince left us. God always gives us the great ones for a bit to let us enjoy, but is always quick to take them back from us too.
If i know the story correctly, nobody expected this to happen. Prince just showed up and gave everyone the time of their lives, even if just for one evening. Look at the faces of the people who are suddenly realizing that Prince just started playing music. oh to be a fly on the wall
When legends get together and just jam for the joy of music in a club is like among the best hidden music footage you can find. It's incredibly rare. I wish there was more of it.

Hey folks be honest who do not would like attend this party? Also shows Prince very comfortable in a free moment, Only in USA , loved it , thanks for sharing
I mp3'd it...and whenever it pops up on my bluetooth speaker, I smile at the memory of this afterparty. I love watching this because of all the raw, uncut energy..,,celebs, just being REAL. And there is Prince in the midst of all this fun chaos, cool as a cucumber, blowing minds...I love how cats are jumpin up on stage, trying to get out of Prince's way, so they can hook up with Chris Rock in the back. And there is Bill Murray off on the side, just chillin'.
At 4:04 the female guitar player gave Prince the look. All musicians know the look. The look is when you actually communicate between two musicians. I knew the look instantly. Basically, without saying a word she asked Prince if she could do a solo. Prince understood the look and nodded to her and that is when she stepped to the front of the stage. When musicians are mentally in sync, no words need to be spoken. That seems to also work with actors and comedians...... and angry mothers when they stare at their kids.
Prince was also a big fan of James Brown, not just his musicianship but also how he worked with his band. JB was always communicating with his band, sometimes verbally calling things out and sometimes just by looks or gestures. Prince adopted the ways so that when playing live he could get the band to change things up within a song at a moments notice the way James Brown used to do. I believe it was when he formed the New Power Generation that he began to require this from is crew.
@@th2k864 he actually did it with The Revolution as well. Members have been quoted as saying that they couldn’t take their eyes off of him for fear of missing a cue. Yes!! Did you see the look she gave him?? Right before she took the solo, she gave him an "is it cool if I..." kind of look, and Prince was so gracious to let her take it. I loved that!!
That is so priceless!!! I love how Prince is so easy going and just having fun, and so happy to have everyone enjoying themselves. Not worried about someone making a musical mistake on his song! I noticed during the bass solo (that we couldn't see), it wasn't anything earth shattering, but Prince was tuned into the bass player supportively; grooving along with them, and also so very supportive of the girl guitarist. He seemed focused on the overall joy of the situation and the people there, and not at all focused on 'prince'. ...just having so much fun! As stated by others; what a priceless video!! I'm an older folk singer and tuba player, but Prince was just in a different league. I was always a huge fan. He was a True Shaman of music. He would always; always find a way to make it ROCK , and ROCK so hard that it would be unforgettable, as he is.
