- In this video Brad Davis shows how a guitar player can easily become a banjo player by using the Deering six-string banjo. Here Brad will show some rhythm technique using the flatpick and then the flatpick combined with fingers. This is part 1 of a two part video lesson.
Thanks for settling my head on my new purchase of a 6 String Banjo - I’m excited now
Remember - if a tubby, ringing sound is what you're after then the 6-string will work. If you're playing in a full horn band, doing Dixieland or hot jazz then a 4 string _ plectrum, tenor, Chicago - with it's brighter, cutting sound would be better.
Great thanks the piece you wrote sound remarkable Bach like to me I play guitar 5 string banjo mandolin & tenor guitar I have a 6 string Barnes and Mullins banjo your video gives me a lot to work on thanks
Great demo! Just ordered mine now!
Great lessons. Just subscribed. I picked up a 6-string banjo a few weeks ago. Been concentrating on finger picking. Helps on guitar as well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and time.
I just got one today
Thanks nice to hear roll’s and rhythms from the guitarjo
It would be good if you put more 6 string banjo playing on. You have given me some really good ideas. 👍😊
Thanks, great info and playing.
I look forward to Part 2.
Yes it's now available
Invaluable lesson Brad! You're spot on with the target-note strumming. I'm coming from a 30s swing band context and Freddie taught us well how 1-note 'chords' with a projecting instrument are all you need - full strum on that beast would be massive overkill. I'm Jonesin' hard for one of those, but will barely afford the base Goodtime model. Question: Is a closed back significantly better for forward projection? Seems it would be. If so, can I retrofit a piece of hardwood on an open back model to achieve that? Thanks again, this is masterful stuff, yet so clearly taught and learnable even for a beginner.
Thanks a lot!
This instrument was originally used in Jazz because it allowed Guitarists to compete w/ those Blazing loud horns long before we had amplification.
How do you amplify that thing for live playing?
Black Mountain picks resolve issue of holding a flat pick in readiness?
Great instruction. I do like the tone of your banjo. Is it the Deering Goodtime model?
Awesome I'm a learnin
Если ты играл арпеджио на гитаре пальцами, и горя не знал, то с гитар-банджо забудь об этом. Теперь придется все играть медиатором, как металлисту, чтобы инструмент зазвучал! 😮
Спасибо за предупреждение! 😁
Johnny St Cyr played one of these
I wanna sound better. Let me know if you do private lessons online.
This is quite a loud instrument that you can really hear it over other instruments.
I just got a Dean six string banjo and I’m trying to learn some chords.
You mean Guitar Part 1
They're tuned the same way so any Guitar Method book will work
@@RockStarOscarStern634 Yea, Guitar Part 1
Hi what strings do you recommend
Heard of replacing the bottom e and a tuned an octave up. As for the strings themselves, just a matter of finding the ones you like, just you would do the guitar
this is how guitar players become guitar players that cant play a banjo
I'm about to buy a cheap one of these. I've never had a nice instrument in my long ass miserable life.
These things are an abomination.
Oh no, a version of an instrument that's slightly more similar to a different instrument! The horror!
Why not appreciate the sheer level of variance available in the music world instead of being a dumbass purist?
lol
