I saw a Browns V 49rs game in thd old Municipal Stadium.. sitting in the dawg pound with 80,000 fans and you heard the hits from Ronnie Lott. You heard the plastic pads slapping every time Lott hit someone. It was like a car accident. Ive never seen a man hit another man that hard, ever! I watch UFC too!
Mr. Lott is just the definition of NFL and sell yourself for your team at any cost. He's a hitter one of the best DBs ever. 42 .# USC & SF 49ers he would probably get flagged for hitting to hard with h
If you were a Wide Receiver, Ronnie Lott was Freddy Kruger. Ask anybody who played WR in the 80s and I'll bet Ronnie Lott still gives them nightmares to this day! This guy would destroy the morale of entire offenses before they stepped on the field with him.
Greatest defensive back in the history of the Game Played Cornerback played Strong Safety and played Free Safety He was a relentless warrior and a selfless person on the football 🏈 field 1st round pick by the 49ers out of Southern California in 1981 1982 All Rookie Team 7x Pro Bowl 4x Super Bowl champion 9x All Pro 49ers 1981-91 LA Raiders 1991-93 Jets 1993-95 The hardest hitting defensive back of all time No one comes close
Apart from the concrete hits he brought, which were clean hits, Lott had extraordinary eye hand coordination to be able to pick off those tipped passes and fumbles.
@John Harris I agree it does not resemble that game. Now incidental helmet to helmet contact will get you a 15 yard flag and ejection . So it is a softer game but it is still pretty violent . I didn't enjoy watching big Gerald McCoy barely bumped Ben Roethlesberger and drew a 15 yard roughing the passer penalty n he could be heard mumbling " my bad Ben ." wtf is going on out there.
Top 10 defensive players in the NFL ever, 1 Ronnie Lott, 2 Jack Tatum, 3 Lawrence Taylor, 4 Dick Butkis, 5 Deacon Jones, 6 Ray Nitschke, 7 Herb Adderley, 8 Mean Joe Green,. 9 Ray Lewis, 10 Bob Lilly,. Honorable mention Chuck Howley
PLEASE, PLEASE........Ronnie Lott was UNANIMOUS First Team All-Pro selection at cornerback in his ROOKIE SEASON!! The only reason why Lott was NOT defensive rookie of the year was because Lawrence Taylor was also a unanimous First Team All-Pro selection at outside linebacker AS A ROOKIE and was the catalyst behind the NY Giants defense moving from the 27th ranked defense (out of 28 teams) in 1980 to being the 3rd ranked defense in 1981 AND the Giants making the the playoffs for the first time in 18 years. Lott was a BEAST as a rookie with 7 interceptions, 3 of them returned for touchdowns.
Lott would sometimes knock himself out. He would hit another player so hard sometimes 40lbs heavier than him. He was feared because of this. You can be assured no matter how big his opponent was, he was going to give 110% of his body. I saw him in the airport once, putting on his belt after TSA security. I didn't have the guts to come up to him, and also a little awkward while he was arranging his pants. Maybe I was intimidated having watched him play while growing up.
Hey dumbass! Pay attention! Ronnie Lott did it clean. Arms & Shoulders. If he hit YOU with his shoulder pad, he’d kill you. & guess what? Nobody thinks that’s dirty football. Mark Bavaro himself wouldn’t say that was a dirty hit or a “cheap shot”. All the stuff he did, you still can do in the NFL. It’s just that players just don’t do it. There is no discipline or self control exercised like there was when Lott played. Most of these guys in the NFL today actually belong in prison. It’s assholes like you that try to call a good thing bad just to make it fit correctly with your opinion. Probably because you were a Giants fan or at least not a 49ers fan. Have you ever even done any research? Lott wasn’t just physically dominant he was just as much mentally dominant(smart). If you’re going to do that then why don’t you just keep your comments to yourself. He didn’t go out as one of the greatest players of all time & one of the hardest hitters if not the hardest hitter by making, what you say, “cheap shots” Long Live Lott!! The Greatest to ever lace up a pair of cleats!
Ronnie intimidated his opponents, he even had some of his pinky amputated so he wouldn't miss a regular season game, something you don't see in modern football, I respect Ronnie but as a Giants fan I'll never forget Mark Bavaro's catch against the 49ers.
@@gviruscalls7089 well I was talkin about safeties but now you're talkin about corners? If that's the case Deion Sanders is easily the greatest corner of all time put that in your pipe and smoke it enjoy
RL was both a corner and a safety...DS was a corner, so they played the same position. DS was a pure cover guy who rarely hit but could catch (intercept) well and return punts. RL was a cover guy who could also catch...but he brought the lumber every game. DS played with swagger, RL played with heart. Swagger's great when you're winning, but I'll take heart every time. Both were great players, for sure!
Jose Lopez Deion Sanders was a Cornerback Ronnie Lott was a Strong Safety/Free Safety for most of his career Two different players Two different positions Two different styles of play You can’t compare the two
@@kingfish4242 he really didnt run over LT. It was week 16 in 1989. The only time they met. Bo took an end around handoff. He had full momentum going around and into LT. They collided and LT held on but bos momentum carried LT for 3 yds and they both went down. He hit LT pretty good but LT held his own. It was nothing like the brian bosworth play.
Actually, the rules were changed to HURT the Patriots. The early Patriots were known for their PHYSICAL DEFENSE, so Peyton Manning, Curt Warner, etc. complained to the league to change the rules to force the Patriots to play a more finesse defense. You should learn your football history before speaking. Seems like you must not have started watching football until 2005-2006. Go back and look at early year Patriot teams with Ty Law, etc. They were forced to adjust when Peyton complained. It was PEYTON MANNING who cause the league to become flag football.
I don’t care if Ronnie has 4 rings he a terrible owner, He brought his NFL experience to Tracy Toyota, you can’t own a car dealership that way, His employees and customers deserve respect and Ronnie brought none of it
I remember that draft in 1981 for San Francisco. Lott, Williamson, Wright. They all started their rookie season.

Lol they don't run full speed at each other in the UFC but point taken
Thunder and Destruction!!! I watched that tape so much when I was little it came apart!!!
This guy is my all time favorite player bar none. Love Joe and Jerry but Ronnie is the best.
Ronnie was great but 49ers wouldn't have won their rings without Joe and Jerry.
Tenacious and vicious but with heart. A true warrior!

Agree. WRs thought twice about going over the middle.
greatest defensive back of all time, second to none.
One word...supreme determination

What a legend i got so much respect for him
Raphy der Baer better because he's a 49er first
My favorite player of all time who played those positions! Absolute determination describes RONNIE LOTT!

Sanders was never a fierce tackler like Lott and Blount & Rod Woodson were
Apart from the concrete hits he brought, which were clean hits, Lott had extraordinary eye hand coordination to be able to pick off those tipped passes and fumbles.
A gentleman off the field and a beast on it, dude was a baller
Ronnie Lott, when respect and sportsmanship on the field and off was real. Today's players to put it simply suck at that.
Loved Ronnie Lott from day 1. That's a football player rt there, folks.
That hit on woods was brutal I remember watching that game and every one in the room went ooooohhh ouch
That hit changed the momentum of the game. Woods was rumbling and Lott let the air out of him. Legendary
Ronnie Lott would have met his match with Stanley Wilson had he not coked.
This guy was a beast on defense!
best defensive player ever period, teams changed their whole offensive strategy when he was in the middle
One mean man!!!! An animal out there🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's sad that he would be fined and suspended in today's NFL.
sienna three he's talking about unnecessary roughness
Lott was no clean hitter. Look at this hit to Bavaro at 28 seconds. th-cam.com/video/bxD6Xg7xPdA/w-d-xo.html
Dan Livni that was just one play so....
Dan Livni That wasn't dirty That's how the game was played then and so what he gave him a forearm shiver Big deal.

Instead of a hall of fame let's make a football gods award for Ronnie Lott and Bo Jackson. People we know no one could ever beat
Greatness!

“RESPECT” bottom line, that’s what this world needs!!!

I can't believe they didn't show the hit on Mark bavaro. He crushed Bavaro.
Awesome talent.
Big reason the 49ers were a dynasty in the 80's.
A Ronnie Lott hit it's a like a Shawn Kemp dunk it can spark up the whole team.

Ronnie Lott is the best Defensive Back in NFL History, by far
Fucking NFL films. One of the most feared, ferocious players of all time and they’re playing this JCPenney buy one get one half off sale music.

Lott copied Jack tackling style...was just as good ballhawk but never played corner like Lott because of that Lott gets edge.
Both were ruthless, intimidating, frightening players. Can anyone imagine the pair of them playing 2 high safety in the same secondary?
Joey Rey
Ronnie Lott was a better all-around Strong Safety/Defensive Back than Jack Tatum
I'd probably hate the pats too if I didn't live in new England. Can always count on Brady haters. Brady would pick apart 80's defenses.
Nickacus Duh...quarterbacks and receivers got hit in the 80s...NO DEFENSELESS RECEIVER RULE 30+ YEARS ago
Nickacus You are aware that Brady owes EVERYTHING he has obtained to this point to INSTANT REPLAY
Brady would break like glass if he played in this era of football.
Brady wouldn't have survived in the 80s. Much less pick apart defenses
brady would be in a wheelchair if he played in the 80's
