A mother who sacrifices so that her lineage could be afforded a better life is commended enough. You are awesome Nanelle, may RJ make full use of the opportunities available to him.
Big congrats to your son Nanelle. This is me 24 years ago. That feeling, when it's time to go to France or Belgium on School's trip he has his British passport. Faithful God! My daughter was 6 when I got my ILR. Now she is 30 this month the feeling is so exhilarating. Thanks for sharing. Yours is next...part 2 perhaps.
Wow congrats. I know that feeling. Been here for 20 years. My kids have gone through several red passports and last year the got the new blue passports. Me and hubby still have red passport more years before it expires.
Can I live in Southern Ireland and apply for British citizenship after 5 years? Because I don’t anticipate on taking the Irish citizenship! Does that work??
@entisarali2743 No, except you or your spouse have British passport or Indefinite leave to remain. Southern Ireland now Republic of Ireland is a separate entity. Its no longer part of the United Kingdom where Nothern Ireland is.
The feeling is truly unique. In 2012, while doing my master's degree in the UK, my housemate commented that dual citizenship is one of the best legacies we can give our kids. That day, I proposed in my heart that my kids would never struggle to visit any country or queue for a visa because of their nationality. I thank God that the dream was made manifest in Canada. As a dual citizen of Nigeria and Canada, the feeling is unexplainable.

Congratulations to your adorable baby boy on becoming a British Citizen 🇬🇧. I applied for a my British passport in December using the regular service and it came out in exactly 7 days. I could not believe it. Maybe because they were clearing work before Christmas. I can relate to your relief Nanelle. 😅Well deserved ❤
I was born in the UK as well but travelled very young without applying for citizenship I just became a British citizen last month after 22 years trust me I know how that feels
@@NanelleGriselda My parents had me in the UK with no status and then we got it in the 2000s around that time I traveled with my mom to Africa little did I know that was the last time I would ever go back to the UK I lived in Africa for about 13 years I lived in depression for a long time it always bothered me for a long time my father was very reluctant to bring us back to the UK so he came back to Africa and retired I started asking random people who were his friends that lived in the UK if it was possible for me to go back everyone responses were so negative and it bothered me so much I tried to go the British Embassy back home in Africa I got kicked out until I had to fight so hard and moved to the US where I had to do more research thats where I found out last year that I was eligible to apply for Citizenship through a Form T application British born after 1st January 1983 living overseas process took 12 months then I finally attended citizenship ceremony last month applied passport same day just received my passport last Friday so yeah I know how it feels
@@NanelleGriselda Yes sure me and my brother were born in the UK in the 90s at that time my parents had no secured the ILR then after some years my father applied for all of us and we got it. My mother applied for a passport for country X in Africa where she came from. So in that passport me and my young brother were endorsed in the same passport so 3 of us were in the same passport with all 3 ILRS so we travelled to country X in 2004 for a vacation which was supposed to be for two months because of Christmas then my father who was still in the UK called my mom telling her while your still there why don’t we apply for a British passport for our sons then my mom mailed the passport to my father back in the UK so he did all the paperwork including the passport and sent them to the UK passport office which was the name of the HM passport office at that time. They received the documents but asked for my information to continue the process. As told by my father he claimed they lost the passport. He called my mother and told her the passport was lost and we stuck in Africa for a very long time I tried to get myself back in the UK at that time but wasn’t successful even went to the embassy but they told me I didn’t qualify because I wasn’t a British National it broke my heart in so many pieces. So I started getting unsolicited advice from people who lived and worked in the UK on how I can fight to get back there they almost all had the same response “Its impossible you overstayed your ILR for more than 2 years “ I was in depression for more than 7 years so in 2016 with God’s grace I relocated to the US but still it wasn’t enough I wanted to go back home to the UK so I did my research on my own I watched a lot of videos like yours. I told myself that this was the last attempt if it failed I was never going to pursue it again and also never ever go back to the UK so I sent an SARU also known as Subject Access Request to the Home Office I sent them copies of my birth certificate and other copies my mother had kept and in 8 months they made it clear that I wasn’t a British citizen however inorder to qualify I had to apply the Form T application for British citizenship overseas which I did and took my finger prints and in 12 months they sent me an email congratulating me. I shaded a tear I won’t lie it was bittersweet then I went for the citizenship ceremony this year in May and just got my passport last Friday that is my story there’s a lot of people like me going the same situation with your platform please share awareness on that.
