- Guiding Light - September 1982 - Nola In The Hospital
Bea and Maureen enter Nolas room. Bea is worried about how pale Nola is, but Kelly tells her its part of the delirium. Just then, Nola starts crying out, complaining about rats crawling up her legs. She cries, Help me several times. The camera moves to Quints stricken face in the doorway.
Back in the waiting room, Maureen and Bea ask Kelly how long it will take for the antibiotics to work. He says he doesnt know, but explains that Nola is very ill and it will take her a while to get better. Quint is in the background staring through the window toward Nolas room.
Kelly tells Bea to go home, but of course she refuses to leave until she knows Nola will be okay. Instead Maureen talks her into going to the cafeteria for breakfast. They ask Quint to join them. He says hed like to talk to Kelly first.
Quint thanks Kelly for all hes doing for Nola. Kelly says its a good thing Quint and Tony found her when they did or it might have been too late. Kelly then asks why they didnt call the police, especially now. Quint says hell handle it his own way.
Later Quint is talking to Tony about what he saw when he was in Nolas room. He says he feel even worse listening to Nola reliving all the horrors she lived through at Silas Crockers hands. Tony asks if Maureen and Bea are in with Nola and Quint says theyre in the cafeteria. Tony goes to the cafeteria to try to talk them into going home to get some rest.
Floyd approaches Quint and asks if Kelly said when the rest of them could see Nola. Quint says no, but he imagines that until the fever is down and the delirium is over that no one but family could see her. Floyd points out that Quint saw her and hes not family. Quint doesnt respond. Katie steps in and reminds Floyd that Nola and Quint are very close. Quint says it would be pointless for Floyd to see Nola, that she wasnt even aware he, Bea, and Maureen were in the room. Floyd gets upset and says that doesnt matter, he wants to see her. Leslie Ann tells him theyre just going to have to wait. Floyd says that he thinks everyone is forgetting hes the father of Nolas child.
Quint says that no one is forgetting that fact or the threat of his custody suit. Quint, who had been sitting until this point, stands and stalks toward Floyd stating that the entire time Nola was held captive and all the way home, all she was worried about was the fact that she might lose Kelly Louise. That with the last of her strength, thats all she was worried about. Quint tells Floyd he cant believe he wants to go into her room and upset her more. That hes the last person who should be allowed in that room because hell remind her of what shes frightened of most. Floyd says that Nola wouldnt have gotten kidnapped in the first place if it wasnt for Quint. Quint steps toward Floyd, but Derek stops him. Quint and Derek leave to go to the cafeteria.
In the cafeteria, Bea thanks Quint for finding Nola. Quint apologizes for keeping Nolas whereabouts a secret and explains his reasons for doing that. Bea says that the important thing is that theyre both safe. Katie comes down to tell them that Nola is being examined. Quint apologizes to Katie for the way he spoke to Floyd.
Henry enters the cafeteria looking for Bea. He sits at the table and asks how Nola is doing and how Bea is holding up. Quint excuses himself from the table to go call Mrs. Renfield. Bea tells Henry how upset Quint is and that he blames himself. Maureen says it will make more sense to Henry once Quint returns and explains everything. Henry says he doubts that, that Quint is one of the strangest and most secretive men hes ever met.
Back at the boarding house, Bea, Tony, Gracie, and Henry are talking about Quint. Henry asks Tony if he got to know Quint at all in the days he spent with him. Tony says he doesnt know him any better after spending 72 hours with him than he did before. Tony says that Quint kept saying that Nola is the most important thing in his life and he believes that. Tony tells them how Quint didnt think twice about giving away the Golden Cradle to get Nola back and that when Silas had a knife to Quints throat, he told Tony to leave him and go find Nola.
Gracie says it sounds romantic, just like a movie.

I just love the look on Quintons face here when he see's Nola having hallucinations of the rats crawling on her.He is saden and shocked by her illness and wishes he could do something to aid her. Now that's love,he feels bad for her and guikty,he really loves her that much.
Thanks, added!
@waterlilyqueen Yes Lisa Brown and Tom Nielson wer husband and wife at one time. The little boy that Quinton and Nola have after there are married was actually portrayed by her real baby they had. They are not married any longer. She was remarried the last that I heard but don't know anything about him.
@getoutofmyway01 You would have had to see the show from the very beginning.Nola was my heroine from the first time she met Quinton. Yes,she was a pain in thearse at first, but later you grew to love her once Quinton came into the picture and part of her world.
First, I agree with everybody else. Floyd needed to shut up, and he was a real jerk to Quint. I'm glad Quint told him off, and that Derek put a stop to things before a fistfight could break out. It was interesting seeing Quint and Henry in the same scene, with Henry not yet having any idea that Quint is actually his son. I loved Tony telling the others at the end that Quint's only concern the whole time was Nola, and making sure that she was safe and all right no matter what happened to Quint.
@bsheffer1 Floyd and Nola married in real life? That's really interesting!
Thank God somebody told Floyd to shut up!. I wonder what he is like in real life that Lisa Brown was actually married to him. Quinton sure could not look at Henry at the hospital. Wait until Mr. Chamberlain finds out they are father and son. Am looking forward to when Quinton confesses his love to Nola again.
@getoutofmyway01 i am a hugh fan of his.I have followed his career since he played Quinton on GL and now he is a full time Prof. for Univ.of Nevada Las Vegas.Quite the mirror of life imitating art Michael playing a teacher on GL when his character ended and now he is a full time Prof. in real life.
@getoutofmyway01 Yeah, but i would have given anything at the time to have acted beside Michael tylo who played her later on husband. They both had/have such incredible chemistry.Wow!
Oh Floyd, shut up!
@getoutofmyway01 What kid? I'm sorry I have never seen 'TWILIGHT',I have no idea what your referring to. Quinton always loved Nola from the moment he first saw her in the gazebo.
@getoutofmyway01 Quinton looks nothing like that kid. Michael in this character portrayal of Quinton was made in make up to look very tired and incoherent, because he had been up for almost a week with no sleep looking for Nola.We would all look that bad too if we had been in a similar situation, too,I'm sure.
I wish Nola would have died
Go Floyd!!! The only person in the cast who recognizes that QUINT is responsible for the Perils of Nola!!!
