- Guiding Light - September 1982 - Nola In The Hospital
Mrs. Renfield finds Quint in the library and she urges him to get some rest. He says he cant until he knows Nola is all right. He describes Nolas condition to Mrs. Renfield and says that he is responsible for everything that happened to her. She says that its all over now and they should be grateful Quint persuaded Tony to let Silas and Jamie go, otherwise theyd have the police hanging around asking all kinds of questions. Quint says he is grateful, but a part of him wants Silas hunted down and punished for hurting Nola. He recounts how Nola cried out for Silas not to touch her and he cant help but wonder what he happened in that room.
Mrs. Renfield says that Lt. Wyatt stopped by and was asking questions about the crowbar and Tonys abandoned car. She says that Helena was in the room when Lt. Wyatt was there and almost told him about the room on the third floor, but Mrs. Renfield stopped her with a look.
Mrs. Renfield asks Quint if hed like something to eat. He says he cant eat, hes too worried about Nola, that she looked so helpless. He says hed give up his life to ensure hers. She tells him he cant talk like that. Quint agrees to have tea and Mrs. Renfield leaves to get it.
Quint retrieves Nolas copy of Wuthering Heights off the bookshelf and smiles at the memory of giving it to her. Helena returns from her walk and interrupts him. She says she wants to explain why she hit him in the head with a crowbar. She tells Quint she was terrified of Silas and Jamie that she never meant to hurt him and is upset when he doesnt accept her apology. He tells her he doesnt hear her apologizing for trying to steal the Golden Cradle, which would have meant a death sentence for Nola, or for all the lies shes told.
He tells her that if the police hadnt ordered her to stay, she would have left without knowing if he was okay or if Nola was alive. Helena tells him shes sick of hearing about Nola, that he might be fool enough to risk his life for her, but Helena wouldnt let him risk hers. Quint tells Helena he doesnt want her to mention Nolas name, that shes not fit to be in the same room as Nola.
Helena says he must be kidding, but before she can say anything else derogatory about Nola, Quint grabs her arms and stops her words. He says that Nola might not have been raised with all the advantages in life, but she has many virtues. He says that Nola is going through the roughest fight of her life, but shell make it because shes a fighter. He tells Helena that while Nola was held captive by Silas he knows she went through a lot and he vows that if Silas laid a hand on Nola, hell go to the ends of the earth to find him.
He says hes holding Helena responsible for Nolas captivity and that she should pray for Nolas recovery. Before Helena can say anything, Mrs. Renfield arrives with tea. Quint excuses himself to go to his room but the phone rings and its Maureen. She tells him that Nola is worse and her temperature has risen. Quint leaves for the hospital.
Quint arrives at the hospital and speaks with Hillary who tells him that Nola was complaining of abdominal pain and her temperature was up, but he shouldnt worry shes getting the best care possible. Quint goes to wait in the lounge. On her way to the elevator, Amanda Spaulding sees Quint and approaches him, telling him shes been trying to reach him for days about a meeting with Alan Spaulding. She invites him to a dinner party but he declines.

Excellence. The show was giving me Dark Shadows vibes during this period. Quinton was so mysterious. Loved when they were going out in some scenes and he put on that cape.
I just learned of the death of Lisa Brown. Very sad about it. She was my number one reason for watching the show. Out of curiosity I looked up the others in the cast this episode and all of them are alive except Michael Tylo and William Roerick who died at age 82. Believe it or not, Beulah Garrick (Mrs. Renfield) is still alive at age 100!
Loved these characters! I wish we would have gotten some better idea if Nola was back with Quint in the end.
Thanks again, these clips are the only Guiding Light I've watched, so there are a lot of characters I don't recognize :)
Quinton's scene with Helena is one of my favorites. I wish there was a way to get GL's Quint and Nola story on dvd. I am still sad about the deaths of Michael Tylo and Lisa Brown. 1990's Quinton and Nola is history best forgotten; it should have never been written for them. Actors Michael Tylo and Lisa Brown deserved much better. Quinton and Nola should have remained a romantic couple united against the odds.
Quint letting Helena have it=WOW! Brilliant, just brilliant, and it's all true.
i loved watching Quinton give Helena a good shaking. She deserved it!
Good gods he scared me there!!! Holy crap, Michael Tylo could easily have played a villain or a serial killer if he'd wanted to, even with that choirboy face...I swear I thought he was gonna start eating Helena's brains, lol
