Couldn't turn off phone because it was asking for pin # that I didn't know , however I could hit restart w/o pin # and for the brief period when the phone was off I could initiate recovery procedures .

what happens if it won't let you switch off the device because it requires a password??? i've been through 19 youtube videos, downloaded 5 different apps that say they can remove it and have punched at least 59 different objects.

Just let the battery drain fully. After that charge the phone without switching it on. Once charged, start from the step where phone restarts.

My S8 pattern pin stopped working 5 days ago. The dots would not connect for some reason. This happened out of the blue and I'm positive I was entering the correct pattern. I couldn't shut my phone down without the pin. I called Samsung and they were no help at all. I chatted with their customer service online and they basically told me that there was nothing they could do to help. Even though this is an issue with the phone, not a forgotten pass code. My local phone repair shop is charging $60 to do a factory reset !!! I eventually decided to do the factory reset and your video is the easiest to understand and most helpful. I let my battery die down by running the camera video and flash light. Then I followed your video step by step. Once I finished the reset I was able to keep a lot of my old data because it was saved to my Samsung and Google accounts. No more pattern codes for me

you've explained everything right, but you didn't told about the factory reset protection( frp) lock, which will still ask the google account details which are configured on that device. this is simply misleading.
It is not misleading. You are supposed to know your Google account details, right? :)
Ofcourse if we know the Google account details we can try forgot password then simply have to login in to Google account other than doing all factory reset which will completely erase the data.

I forgot my pin but i still have my fingerprint working, i don't want to reset since i lose my data any other method
You can't turn off the security or change the PIN until you do not the current one. The best option is to just keep using as it is because you are fingerprint is working fine or take a backup of all your data and apps, after that perform a hard reset.
@@TheShaanHaider The problem is, once it's turned off/on...then you won't be able to get back in, because it won't accept the finger print. That happened to me. Now you are locked out.

I was so upset and I have really bad anxiety issues. Thankfully I had my old phone. Currently I am on my break at work and I found this video which helped greatly! I have always used the pin and I will never go back! Pattern is by far the worst! :)

Hi Kim, it happens sometimes due to Samsung's FRP and Android security. Are you trying to connect using the same old WiFi? If the SIM is inserted, mobile Internet is working and getting the option to skip WiFi setting?

Leave the phone, let the battery drain full. Once 0% battery charge the phone without switching on. Once the battery is 100%, start the process
Restart it when it's off press byxby +power+up volume asap

Just leave the phone until it's battery is not drained fully. After that charge it without switching it on. Once battery is charged, start the process directly using the key combination.... Good luck :)
hit the restart one and as soon as you see the samsung logo showing keep the three buttons pressed :)

I found an s8 literally in the street today. Knowing how good a phone it is....I will try this and hope that it works.
I would suggest to wait a bit, maybe the owner will call on this phone and you will be able to return the device to him/her. If not, device is yours anyway.

Up to that point the speed was fine. But for about 3 seconds it is very garbled, then it goes back to normal
HI Michael, sorry about it. I was just mentioning that everything from the internal storage will be deleted and that is why the security features like lockscreen pin, password, fingerprint ID will be deleted from the device
