I have watched many of your colubrid videos but this one helped me out a lot. I bought a Russian Rat Snake today from a reptile shop that didn't know much about it, but even though it didn't look quite like it should I fell in love with its calmness and bought it anyway. It's a Korean Rat Snake, turns out. Almost 6 feet, 1030 grams. Huge and sweet. Thanks for helping me figure it out.

Hello jz it's been a while. I'm enjoying Freya and she's growing like a weed. I've definitely enjoy your videos they're informative on different species. I trained Freya to climb on my hand and so she doesn't think I'm food.

Great video. I love the species. I bought what I thought was a Russian rat turned out to be a Korean Rat but glad I have it would like to have another to possibly breed one day.

I don’t see this species as often as I’d like. This and the Russian rats are the only native snakes to korea I can find available for sale as pets

The only others would likely be the steppe/Dione’s rat snake and possibly the Korean king rat but are definitely uncommon

In South Korea Mamushi/steppe rat snake/tiger keelback snakes are actually more commonly seen in wild.
Elaphe schrenkii is very rare to see

Is a Korean rat snake good for someones first pet snake? I rlly like how they look and I also found some for $40 but I do have a smaller room so its always hard to pick out what pets I want lol

They can be flighty and will get bigger than a corn snake but I would put them somewhere between beginner and intermediate

Are these venomous at all? If so, are they highly venomous and dangerous?
