Nice project! I had a '59 same baby blue color when I was 12 yo. My dad pulled the engine apart completely and had the aluminum head fixed and with guidance made me put it back together. I ran it hard on off-road trails and tore the rear engine mounts right out of the frame and rolled it over once. A ton of fun for 25$ with only 848cc's.
G’day mate, Here in Australia, that interior trim looks similar to the late 60’s thru to the late 70’s GM Holden seat trims called Houndstooth. There are a few companies here that sell replica trim by the metre. If you google for example 1975 Holden Monaro, you’ll get too see what I mean. With the window rubbers , I soak them in a large container with a mix of diesel fuel and engine oil. They come up like new. Cheers Chris
An older sister of a good friend had one of these.. it was her first car.. i believe her's was a 59 Dauphine.. This was probably 1962.. I thought it was a cool little car, even back then.. Rat rods from Africa doing same with a shortened vw pan and added flares for width. He’s a u-tuber and his series on that conversion would be worth watching
In really good condition... Usually the rust in dauphine's especially the front Boot is a killer..kinda sacrilege but interest in old 50s Renault is not mainstream... Pity..nice video and of interest.
Gordini (his full name being Amedée GORDINI) was specialized in engine preparation, but only with Renault engines. He took care of the engines of the 4CV, the Dauphine, the R8, the R12, and some others (purists will tell you more !). A lot of these engines won races back then.
Regarding your rubber. Though I've never done it, so I can't speak to its effectiveness. I've heard of people using mineral oil to revive old tire rubber.
