Brandon Lee did not die from a misfire. The prop gun was previously used in a different way, using real looking bullets, only with gunpowder removed so bullets used in that scene looked real. Too bad, the primer alone was enough to shoot the bullet from cartridge with very low velocity, causing the bullet to get jammed into the barrel. No-one realized this could happen. Next time the gun was used, it had actual blanks, which had a lot of gunpowder so shot looked and sounded real, without an actual bullet. The crew never realized the previous real bullet was still the the barrel, and firing a blank caused the bullet to fly out almost like it was a real bullet.
