    I think it should be pointed out that the Arc is an upgrade to the Free series (the Free P4 in particular), not the Wave. The Free series is designed to be easily one hand operable for all of the implements, and the design choices reflect that. The pocket clip is placed so the tool can pull out and the knife opened with one hand without having to flip the tool around. The thumb stud used because it makes it easier to deploy the knife than the hole. Sure, they could have included the ruler, but it's next to useless anyways as far as an accurate measuring device goes.
    If you like the Free series and have money to burn on Magnacut, then this tool may be for you. If you don't like the Free series, this is probably not the upgrade you are looking for, for your Wave, Charge, etc.

    The charge is a premium wave
    The arc is a premium free p4

    My take on things I don’t like after owning the arc and 35 other Leatherman multitools;
    1) no ruler
    2) feeling of the arc. Seems slick
    3) pliers. Don’t like the bulky look. Hard wire cutters failing on a lot
    4) thumb stud should have been implemented on both sides
    5) small size awl

    Ok, please give me one example of having the shorter blade being a problem ? Did you actually had to cut something and you weren't able to do it because of that slighlty shorter blade ? (Why do you guys always complain about everything ??) Do you even use you multitool ?

    • @dualsportedc
      @dualsportedc 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Do you even own a multitool? There are all kinds of tasks where a longer blade is more useful. Cutting thicker ropes, cutting a seatbelt in a single cut, processing game, piercing into thicker materials to make a slit, the list can go on and on. You should think before you troll. Otherwise you just end up looking like a fool.

      @@dualsportedc i own enough multitools, especially Leathermans, that i was featured on all Leathermans social medias. Been using tools and multitools for as long as i remember. I think i know a thing or two about tools. I'm just fed up about people complaining for such stupid stuff. Again, please tell me when not even 1/4 of blade length left ypu unable to do what you had to do ?? People are such princesses. Btw, no, i've never been in a situation where i was left stuck because of that. It's a multitool... not a bowie....

      Wanna hear something that may drive some "knife nerds" crazy? I like partially serrated blades because they are useful at my job! 🤯

    Remember guys, this is why we don’t do preorders. They get your money and you get a product you may/may not be happy about. Wait for the company to work the kinks out, then buy a later generation…like Sigs.

    • @DB-qm4jx
      @DB-qm4jx 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly like sigs. I had nothing but trouble with a particular sig. I called them sent it back got it back sent it back again and was told all kinds of excuses that it was my fault in my ammo or my grip. About a year and a half later they update my “arm” and I contact them again and let them know I’m disappointed that they knew there was a problem and then they release a updated version that fixes the exact problem I was having.
      They told me there was nothing they could do for me and i should trade it in on another sig at my local firearm dealer. WTH.
      I was a sig super fan till then.
      Never again.
      GO Ruger and s&w. EXCELLENT customer service with both.

    I hear the cutters are breaking and the notch is annoying. I’ve never used one of those rulers. I’d like to get one if they improve the wire cutter.

    Yea the thumb hole is better than a stud, even in Emerson’s like the snake.

      Right? It seems dorky, but I have used mine on a number of occasions. It’s mostly just a weird omission because it would have totally been doable

      Rulers are fucking shit anyway it’s super awkward to use and just dumb, just get a folding one and put it in the sheath, the stud is also designed to come off the blade so that’s that issue gone, the clip you can take off or put it on the opposite side.. again problem solved, the hammer head is an extra feature for nothing you can use it for light things, like maybe you use the pry tool to take off a paint can lid you can use the hammer to tap it back on. This video is literally just for him to bitch about stupid shit about a PERFECTLY decent tool it’s actually stupid. ESPECIALLY when you can see all of the tools and features on the website before buying it so they have no excuse to bitch about it after getting it

      What do you guys measure while out and about? I’ve never in my life needed to unexpectedly measure something, especially something that is less than 4 inches long

  • @diezelle57

    I don't recommend using the Leatherman Charge+ as a hammer, obviously. You forgot to mention that the thumb stud allows for quick opening by pulsing. Many buy blade opening systems to be able to open them when wearing thick gloves, etc. Finally, the Leartherman Arc has the new wire cutter which is very bad.

    I agree with your thumb stud on the blade observation but I find putting a hole in the file to be an equally dumb mistake.🇨🇦

    I hear the ARC is sharp on the edges, P4 has much smoother edges. Can you confirm?

    • @curtis2472
      @curtis2472 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They're exactly the same and as long as you're not a Sally you should be fine. I've had the P4 since it came out and it's a Great tool

      I am rocking my P4 and find it superior thanks to the serated blade but hearing that the top scales are not rounded on the edges on Arc surprised me. Glad to hear its polished and not sharp.

    • @irishtike
      @irishtike 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the edges of the tool aren't sharp, but the back of the saw and file are. I got cut by the saw while using the screwdriver. just putting pressure in the right (or wrong) spot cut my thumb. knocked down the sharp edge with a carbide bur and now we are good to go

      I got a Charge TTI and i gotta say, I do not regret it. The ARC is "cool" for sure, but in real life, my Charge has everything that i actually use.

    It reminds me of what some car brands like Jeep have done. going from rugged, no nonsense utility vehicles built to last, to trying to become more like luxury products that are less useful and more fragile. too much emphasize on things like the fidget factor. Considering the price point, i guess it seems obvious this is more of an expensive toy than a tradesman’s work tool meant to be put through the ringer. the surge and swisstool still reign supreme imo.

    A great video. Hate the clip & thus removed it. And albeit you can sort of flip it one the handle locks down in plier form the ability to flip is gone. Last but not least the concept of one hand use is only got the outside blade it file. Maybe it’s me but getting the other tools out is more difficult
    And yes sad the ruler is gone. Is it worth the $240. Not really.

  • @jamesholding3563
    @jamesholding3563 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    There's definitely some problems that are just now hitting the net and it's unexcusable for a $230 multitool. Leatherman will have to remedy these soon.

    100% agree with every point you made in this video! Combined with your earlier excellent assessment of MagnaCut being a jack of all trades and master of none, I am firmly convinced that Leatherman has produced a very gimmicky product. Also, the more I learn about proper sharpening, the more I find the thumb studs to be a huge throw back because they always get in the way. Thanks for saving me $200+
