@@ThePaddleChannel just got my volare pro. It definitely performs as advertised by Puakea. When I'm surfing so long as my catch is firm and my stroke is smooth front to back, I can get onto the bump at the end and it's a smooth ride from there on out. On the Kahele when I'm surfing, getting on the bump is easy but I'm usually in zone five for my heart rate and I feel like I have to work to stay on the bump with more effortful maintenance strokes. On the Volare my surf sessions I stay at low zone 4 for HR and because the boat gets help from the ocean I can conserve my energy and then when things open up for me I can ride over a more shallow bump in front of me in order to get into a better position. I am 6'2" and about 197lbs with several years of outrigger racing under my belt. I have paddled with Huki, Hurricane, Antares, Kahele, and Now Volare. The few gripes right now is my foot pedals are stuck all the way forward (the position I want for flat water) and I cannot seem to release the pedal-board back towards the seat. The board seems to be jammed on the track. The butt model they used for the seat is clearly not for my butt and will need to shave the cheeks down. The last gripe is that when you are stationary the footwell cockpit fills up to about 4 inches of water and you will need to paddle for about 5-10 minutes before it drains to a suitable level. I wish they gave the drain a plug surf-ski style so it doesn't fill up so quickly. So when I'm at a dead start for a sprint I have about 4litres of water sloshing back and forth in the footwell until it drains. Not sure if that's going to kill my speed while on flats but it's very apparent over canoes that don't have the extended foot well. Maybe you guys can make a video about shaving foam for the outrigger seats :)
@@subliminallyinc congratulations on the new boat! Thanks for sharing your experience. We'll see if we can work up and "shaving video", or maybe we can get Paolo or Johnny to do one. Keep us updated on the Volare as you continue to paddle it!
subliminallyinc Aloha man it’s Coach Paolo it’s funny you mention the seat I will be making a seat shaping video soon. Interesting your zone when surfing what kind of paddle do you use? If you want email me at paolo@puakeapaddles.com and let me see if I can help you with the issues you are having. Glad you like the boat so much!
Thank you Paola and Rod. Great feedback on the Volare and the Kahele. Excellent paddling tips too. I expect my new Kahele in May. So excited for my new ride to venture around our numerous lakes and the Atlantic Ocean here in Halifax, Nova Scotia! 🇨🇦
@@jodyodell6159 Paolo is 6'2" and 225 lbs, so the Volare is "clydesdale approved." :) Several of the big boys around Wrightsville Beach like the Antares quite a bit, too (and are really fast in the bumps and on flat water), so there are options for the 200+ lbers, for sure.
@@ThePaddleChannel I'm 6ft/225lb and have both Volare and Antares. I like them both, but my okole likes the Antares seat on both the Antares and Volare. The softer Volare seat got crushed under my 240lb while on my way to 225lbs in about seven months of paddling 4x per week. Antares and Volare are indeed clydesdale or bull seal-lion approved😁🤙
watching all these videos online is psyching me up. I'm getting my volare in a month on the Ozone shipment.
Nice! You'll have to let us know what you think after your new ride has arrived!

Maria, congratulations on the new ride arriving soon! You're going to love it! Thanks for letting us know the video was helpful to you!
@@ThePaddleChannel Thank you! 👍🏼🤗
Excellent advice and insight. Looking for my first OC1 , glad i found this discussion
Best of luck!
Very interesting to hear how each boat is paddled a bit differently in the bumps.
Great video guys!
Thanks so much!
Depressing when we talk about they never discuss canoes for the clydesdals division of me 200 plus lbers
Paulo said he is 225-230lbs
@@barryblackburn5910 i will hit replay, i missed. Got depressed all the discussion about 170lber 😀

The Volare isn't new. I had a 1976 volare .
We hear that song every time we see the canoe... :D
If you gets up here, i will buy a clinic seat.
