I had one of these back in 2006 and absolutely loved it, despite it being a touch unreliable. Sublime handling, brakes and the induction sound (I still have a few very old VHS quality videos uploaded). Still nearly 20 years on such a beautiful bike. It was pronounced 'TRE' not T.R.E. Great upload
I love my little Nelli. Had my standard Tre in red for the last 17 years. Absolutely love her. But the clutch is a demon to hold in traffic, and because neutral on the Nelli is a myth, you end up with one hell of a pumped left forearm. She's not my daily ride, as I have an old Ducati ST4 for that, but for those sunny days when I head out of London in to Essex, the Tre is pure joy.
What a genuinely nice short video of the Tre . I’ve had just 34 Nelli’s and the Tornado is a superb bike that is soooooo rarely seen out . Currently working on a yellow RS that was in need of repair . Like the fact the mirrors you have are matt finish as it makes a change from colour coded . Nice carbon extras you’ve added too .
Thanks, appreciate the kind words. Mine was the last one sold new, and as far as I'm aware the only one supplied with the Matt mirrors instead of colour coded, as they had run out of painted ones. I still have the original plastic pieces in a box - the carbon was fitted when the bike was brand new and I feel they lift it a little. Yellow RS is indeed a rare beast! I don't think I've ever seen one in person. 😁 Enjoy the bike, they really are superb.
Finland represent! Got one the same color as yours! Surely a handful as a bike, bought mine at the end of last summer and just tightening up the last bolts of what started as a light service and ended up as a near blow-everything complete rebuild. Parts availability surely is an issue as the only place I`ve managed to find that sends stuff all the way up north here is City Moto in Belgium so been digging deep for those impossible to get special bolts and stuff I`ve been forced to order. From the few rides I managed last year I can totally concur to this bike not being exactly comfortable to ride, in fact I`d go as far as telling you to never go downtown as the straight cut racing gearbox is damn near impossible to get to neutral, the engine overheats easily, the riding position is pure murder to your arms at town speeds, BUT get it on a proper country road, tuck under that windshield, crank her up, listen to the roar, chuck it in the corners at ludicrous speeds which it handles like they weren`t even there and NOT grin from ear to ear, now there`s a challenge for you.
Matti Äikäs 100% agree, these are a bike which doesn’t let you relax and cruise, but amazing on the right road. City Moto in Belgium is my first choice for parts, too.
Nice to see a decent and good length review of the tornado, I have the rs version and yes it is so expensive to run, overheats when going slow and wildly uncomfortable at slow speeds. But would I change it? No way. Often look around bike shops and nothing in my eyes gives me the same feeling as when I look at this bike. Its the little design things like the shape of the key is the same as the asymmetric swingarm and the foot pegs. the contours of the bodywork. Every time I ride it, it feels special (italian bike cliche I know) and always draws attention at bike meets.
Joey Jeopardy thanks Joey, yes, they really are amazing bikes, absolutely full of character. The RS is a real jem, hold on to it! Can't believe it, I've never noticed the key being the same shape as the swing arm, but you're right!
Once the recalls are done they are fine. I think these bikes will have their day and prices for nice ones will be going up - they seem to be already. Thanks for watching 😎
hehehe :-) i only have the Benelli BN 302 R Tornado. but it sounds like Benelli bikes always have had the good sound. Thank's you very much for showing a great review. stay safe.
Mark Harrison thanks for the kind comment, Mark. The cable tie was an emergency repair to a broken block mount, I’m sorting it out this weekend. They are fantastic bikes though, and that sound!
OldManTony it’s one of my favourite features of the bike. I always think they missed a trick, how cool would it have been for James Bond to have ridden one? Could have turned into a jet ski or under water bike!
Phil'O's Garage we used to race a Laverda 650 Formula in the BMCRC MiniTwins (I wasn’t the rider) a few years ago against the SV650s. Because of the great chassis we had some decent results including podiums despite being nearly 10bhp down.
Good video on an excellent but under appreciated sportsbike, I have one too. My second, as I stupidly sold my first and regretted it the moment it left in the buyers van. I did have to laugh though at T.R.E. spoken rather than Tre ( pronounced 'tray' ) as it is italian for 3 ! Novecento on the rear bodywork means 900.
Thanks, I was lucky to be able to get the last one sold new in the UK, so I'll be hanging on to it. TRE still sounds funny to me, somehow T.R.E. Sounds more natural, even though it's wrong! 😂. Seems like prices are going upwards for these bikes, so I think their time will come. Thanks for watching.
@@PhilOsGarage I think you are right - finally they are beginning to go up in value. Apart from the Factory mods which should have been done by Dealers when first sold there's a few other things worth upgrading - study the Benelli forum for plenty of good advice on keeping these in fine fettle. Best wishes.
Benelli to a V Strom? Like going from ghost pepper curry to prison porridge. Both are interesting in their own ways but it’s a bit weird to be wanting one or the other. Poles apart right?

I bet getting parts is a nightmare unless you have a bicycle ha ha I would replace the ugly Arrow can. But frankly i would never buy a Benelli🙁. Buy British...it's Best!
Loved your vlogg on the Tre. After you mentioned the recalls/upgrades, it got me thinking. What are they? Do you know? Would be great to have them listed here as I was thinking of buying 1 soon and it would be great to know what to look out for. Another comment here mentioned they take away some of the reliability issues, if completed?? Thanks for a great insight!!
Thanks for the kind words. There are a number of recalls, there is a clutch basket recall, a Z25 gear recall, and a few others, five in total. Moto gb were the importers and can give full info. They are a very quirky bike, definitely a love it or hate it thing. Servicing is quite expensive and they are extremely thirsty, so be prepared for high running costs. I'd not want to use one for transport, they are a toy only IMHO, but I do love mine. Thanks for watching 😎

Great review 🙌 Had mine 14 years from new. Nearly done 45K miles. If you’ve still got yours get the rear light LED upgrade 👍 Cheers.
Thanks, yes still have mine, no intention to sell it. I have heard about the rear light conversion, I must do it
