23 years old: No friends, feeling lonely, lost and hopeless

  • Crippling loneliness, anxiety and self-doubt has plagued the last several years of my life and I am miserable almost every day since it's always looming in the back of my head no matter what I do. Here's my story (some of it at least).
Recorded the first two parts in July and the last clips this month so please excuse the different clips and jump cuts. I couldn't say everything in one sitting unfortunately.
This is a long video but I've tried to include everything I wanted to and I'm also speaking quite slowly so that's why!
Just an average guy trying to navigate my way through the rollercoaster that is life.

I’m 22, from the UK also and can relate to you so much. No friends, no relationship, just starting my degree whilst working a dead end job. Gotta just keep going I guess.

Repressed anger, repressed emotion. I’m going through the same thing. It’s repressed emotion and being detached from the body and self validation. Parents who tell you not to feel things result in kids who can’t connect. Your confidence depends on how much your parents validated you and were curious about you. How much did they connect with you? It can be healed. I have faith.

Sorry about the late response and sorry to hear you're going through the same thing. As far as my parents go, they were truly great and still are. However, when I was being bullied at school they both took the 'noble'? approach and told me to tell the teacher and don't let it get me down etc. This was not helpful at all in reality and I guess invalidated how I felt and how much it was affecting me so you're probably right. Are you taking active steps to overcome your own issues? Thanks for the comment.

I understand the situation with not having the vibe or connection with friends, all my “friends” don’t know I’m so lonely and lost I just wish I could have anyone there

Hey Im an aspiring artist from London. I came across your video by chance and really connected with it. Thanks for speaking your mind and doing this, I feel like a lot of us go through this, especially men and we don’t really have a way to talk about this stuff.
    I hope you’re blessed g

Hey Anthony thanks for commenting, much appreciated. It's a little consolation that you connected with it somehow so I'm glad. Also I agree, us guys don't really know how to go about this sort of thing since it's instillled in us from a young age to just 'be a man' and not show weakness, etc which is completely wrong in my opinion. But...it is slowly coming around which is good. Take care mate ✌🏻.

I relate with your experience. I wrote a letter to myself and I hope it can help you and anybody who'll read it.
Find what you love to do & repeat it everyday until you're fully self made. Bad habits will always be there, it's up to you not to indulge them frequently & to work sincerely in the never ending chase for excellence. It's not about the little progress you've made along the way or the ways ahead left to go. More than any time to come, what I do right now has the greatest impact on my life and I will live to see the outcome, months and years from now. The gap between the moment & the future is filled with endless possibilities. A man must sacrifice and work hard to truly live with freedom. You have a destiny to write. You have dreams waiting to become a reality. Think back to running distance track. The race was never between you and your peers, it was always you against yourself. When your peers went further ahead than you, a sense of urgency kicked in to work harder and faster than you ever have & in the end you mould into the best you alive. But when you lose all hope of winning, immediately a sense of relief settles in followed by the consent to be defeated and surrender. This is the alternative of doing nothing, it ruins all men who concede to it instead of deciding to work blood sweat tears towards excellence. The same with your Bradford building time and lacrosse. To win in life you must make yourself exceptional beyond compare. You must be supremely confident and certain that you will see change. The more you challenge yourself, the more you will enjoy the reward of being satisfied.

Hey man, I don't know entirely what you are feeling. I do know I relate to some of what you have to say. Just wanted to say, I'm proud of you for carrying on and doing something despite the lostness. It takes strength to carry on and not give up. That's something you seem to be good at. Facing the odds and making the most of a situation and life. You also seem to be discovering a lot of what you like and don't like on this journey. A lot of people live blindly to that and they unfortunately don't discover what they truly need. I'm thankful you are working through things now, rather than later. It's very smart of you. Carry on brother! God bless. :)

Hey, thank you for making the effort and telling your story. I can see how difficult it was for you to say all these things and put yourself out there.
I can say I have been there, and I know how truly horrible it can get. Please keep moving forward, keep trying to make connections. I know it sounds like a cliché but the right people are out there, probs feeling like you do.
4 months have passed, so I truly hope life has gotten easier for you.
I leave in a different country, so i don't think i can help you that much, but you can always pm if you need anything.
I wish you the best. Sincerely.

hey buddy - how courageous of you to make this video. You are obviously a sensitive, open, honest and intelligent young man. There is nothing wrong with you. I can totally relate to what you share about yourself, but also about people in soceity who are extremely selfish. I have been alone almost my entire life, and also just made a video about it. But get as good a sno viewes, let alone comments. Is exactly what you say, peopel only care about themselves. You describe to feel different and feel an outsider. There is nothing wrong about that. You are just on another level, and it is hard to connect with people when youi are one of those - just like me. I know those feelings of emptyness, of not knowing what to do, of feeling disconnected. Is very hard to deal with this in todays world. Just know, Hir, that you are not alone! This is not your fault. Second half of the video was very hard to understand due to the music. That did not help, mate :-( I think thos f***ing cliches really suck. They never worked for me either. All just talk to make people be more patient and not bother others with their feelings. You are trying very hard to get some help, and that is brave and good. Just try to stay yourself and keep sharing your feelings. You are not alone bro - hang in there!! Ramon

What are your passions/interests? I feel your anxiety, but I think spending some time everyday developing/working on your interests might help you get out of the funk your in. Sharing this video is very brave because there's many people like you out there who need to know they're not alone in this.
One of my passions is history, especially cyclical grand history, and in it I have found that societies go through seasons in which certain personalities thrive while other take a back seat, and when that season ends, the roles reverse.
Today the extrovert (entertainer, performer, instant/impulsive gratifier, etc) is in the drivers seat and gets all the attention, while the introvert (thinker, self-reflective, delayed gratifier) is in the back seat and feels left out. But it won't always be this way, and with the way certain world events are getting crazier by the day due to too much impulsive behavior, it seems to me that the introvert season may be around the corner to check and balance the extroverted craziness going on..
    Hang in there bro!

Two main passions are displayed on the rest of my channel. I love rock climbing/bouldering too atm as well. I spend plenty of time working on my interests but maybe I should do even more.
That's a very interesting subject and you may be right! Thanks for your kind comment mate 🙏🏻.
