NC State doesn't have a rival the way they feel about UNC though. While UNC wants to beat duke and uva each year. State wants to beat UNC, they'll just want to do it more. Its their biggest game of the year

I read this completely differently. I'm a NC State alum and have lived in NC my whole life. I've heard lots about this from local sources, and they all say they don't expect the bill to pass. It's mostly about messaging. However, if it does pass, I actually think it would more than likely bind NC State and Carolina. Not because we have to play each other every year, but because of those other games, and the elephant in the room for UNC; their rivalry with Duke. If they leave the ACC, they not only put their rivalry with State in jeopardy, but they also put their rivalry with Duke in peril. For UNC, State is the rival they have to have, Duke is the rival they choose to have. I imagine that UNC will still at least want play Duke once a year in basketball. I honestly believe they'd still probably play each other twice a year in basketball. You know ESPN wants that; they love that rivalry. I bet Duke will want UNC to play them in other sports as well and may hold the basketball rivalry hostage to do so. If that were to happen and UNC was playing State once, Duke twice, and one of the G5 NC schools for another game, that four of your non-conference basketball games gone. Plus, if they had to play all 3 in football, that's all of your non-conference football games gone (assuming they go a conference playing 9 conference games). Scheduling would be a nightmare for the Heels. As such, it's my opinion that the easiest thing for UNC is to move with either NC State or Duke. If this law were to pass, it would almost make it mandatory that they do to preserve any scheduling freedom. Again, I don't believe the bill will pass, but I also believe that whether it does or not, UNC will probably need to bring either State or Duke with them to protect the rivalry they & ESPN want (Duke) and the rivalry they know they can't escape (NCSU). Plus, there's still Wake to consider in this as well. It's definitely going to be messy regardless.

The 2024 will be played as scheduled. We will see how Clemson’s case comes out. The ACC’s request for the 2nd Circuit Appeals Court to intervene before a judgement has taken place will be denied. Then someone should inform how unique the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court operates with State, Local, and some Federal issues. The 2nd Judicial Circuit Court judgment will go straight to the State of Florida Supreme Court. The 2nd Judicial Appeals Court will pick up this case. After a judgement it will automatically go to the State of Florida Supreme Court may choose not to pick up the Case.

Our(Northwestern) record on other's homecomings is surprisingly good. One year we were 4-0 on homecoming.
The days of us being a guaranteed win have been gone for about 30 years.

@richardhead-sw2qc The balance between academics, revenue sports, and olympic sports is an issue that each school handles differently. I can only speak as a Northwestern alumnus, donor, and season ticket holder and my preferences. My preference is drop football if we start paying the players directly and they become employees not students. Your response was out of left field as I was exposing the false narrative that the modern Northwestern football is awful. Our record over the past 30 years indicates we are at least B1G middle-of-the-pack.
As for UGA, if it were on the board I'm sure it would receive a B1G invite regardless of AAU status. I have argued against GaTech, but will almost never argue against athletics membership of the flagship university of decent sized states.

Bottom line is why would Big12 care about unc, ncsu goin or not to a p2. These Big12 shows are doing everything they can to help destabilize the Acc and let Yarmouk feast. after Acc teams just like he did the Pac12. Their narrative is that unc by itself magically jumps to sec , thus initiating the Acc mass exodus of teams. So any narrative that prevents or considerably delays a unc exit works against Yarmouck feasting there. The state of NC tourism bureau working with Acc to supply serious $ and a lot of stability also keeps unc in a revitalized Acc.

UNC Lawyered up before Florida State University & Clemson. It should be noted that FSU & UF have played each other in every sport without ever being in the same conference. Yet, the Rivals in the Sunshine Showdown are fierce. In many ways FSU may pick on UF, but isn’t with anyone else doing so. UF may pick on FSU, but isn’t with anyone else causing too much trouble. The hidden card for FSU & then Clemson has been UNC. Back when the Commissioner’s for the B1G & the SEC: They did some horse trading with their Networks input already known. B1G/FOX wanted Florida State & SEC/ESPN wanted UNC. The SEC had already approved lifting the home & home boycott of FSU with Alabama @ Florida State in 2025 & FSU @ Alabama in 2026, next Georgia @ Florida State in 2027 & FSU @ Georgia in 2028. Those are on the books already scheduled. They certainly played you get, I get John. I’m your favorite Seminole, Timothy in Tallahassee. I am not concerned about AAU Status, I expect AAU Status will come at the same time, should Florida State University receives a invitation to join the B1G. Florida State University has planned for multiple circumstances.

Had UCLA signaled they were going to leave then they would've been in the exact same mess or worse. The Cal-Tax is a small price to pay for their freedom and will properly be reduced/eliminated over time. UNC and UVA only have themselves to blame for getting into this mess. They had a window to jump to any conference 10 years ago and didn't take it. Now both have lost direct control over their futures. Unlike UVA, UNC is basically being held hostage by a rogue legislature in all matters. All of this to protect a couple of basketball games a year with Duke and be the king of a dying kingdom? I can't wait to read the behind the scenes on how these poor decisions were made one day.

My dream scenario is UNC and NCSU landing in opposing P2 conferences. That would be delicious. If only one can make the cut, that is better than none. A suicide pact will not bring economic benefit the state of NC. The bill would place a bit of inflexibility to the chosen one's scheduling options, but probably not enough to torpedo the deal. I would like to see the in-state rivalries continue.

I don’t think it will factor into the equation. CFB and the P2 have very rapidly evolved into multibillion dollar a year entertainment industries. There are now two interconnected metrics that determine the value of a candidate school: Viewership and revenue generation. Want proof? The B1G rejected Cal and Stanford and took Oregon, who is next to last in the B1G academically. Why? You have to ask? The SEC wanted Texas and Oklahoma strictly for both viewership and revenue generation. Nothing else matters now no matter how much some people live in denial. Neither P2 is going to take a school unless it can make them even more money.
