Been watching forever, happy you haven't changed the style. Originally began viewing in 2012, at 9 years old. Crazy how time passes, but regardless I do appreciate that you haven't changed your style to fit what everything else is on TH-cam. The nostalgia is there, and it's why I click everytime I see. Also, the algorithm is pushing this video super hard so we'll see what happens. It pushed notifications to me 3 times about it so far in the past 20 minutes
I agree, I did mention this in a previous video as I've seen many other TH-camrs radically change the way they present videos and what their content is about, even within a year or so. To a degree that I don't like what they make anymore and I simply stop watching. Not to mention this channel also helped me with navigating MS-DOS and the Windows Command Prompt some years ago (sometime between 2016-18) just from seeing how danooct1 types in.
Honestly, it's a very real feeling. 40 minutes of thinking what you want it to do, 10 minutes of thinking of how to do that, 1 minute writing 1 line of code, then 9 minutes debugging.
It's almost like Dan is a real youtuber, artificially making the video longer, but yet doesn't reach the 8 minute mark as he forgot to ask for subscribers and give away a virus!
We appreciate the blood, sweat, tears, and hours you spent to write such an intricate VBS scripts, and edit the virus, so we can have such a grand video!
Not going to lie, it's really funny when the virus you're looking at has a simple error and you wind up fixing it yourself to show it off. Kinda reminds me of real life, in a sense. Good video, great to see you still around!
Missed you lots, Dan! Been watching since I was young at around 11/12 and currently am 21! It's been amazing watching all your videos throughout the years and I still thoroughly enjoy them. Glad to see you back 💜
When you showed us the source code for the cool file you made, I was blown away. The fact that you put hours of research and work into it just to release it for free online speaks to your dedication to the community and its collective knowledge base. Thank you for what you do, Dan. Also the virus is a sling I guess.
This has sparked curiosity for me about so many things. Viruses, retro computing, cyber security... I get more curious and fascinated every time I watch one of your videos Dan, you explain so well it makes me want to know more. Been watching for a number of years now and never gets old.
Same. First discovered his videos in middle school, and I'm currently in my junior year of college majoring in computer networking and cybersecurity, coming back to an early inspiration for my passion for cybersecurity
"I just edited this virus so it does its work better." *runs before editing and after editing to prove* And then... "I guess we're just artificially inflating the video length now. It's like I'm a real TH-camr!" Just struck gold finding this. Awesome job!
Out of everyone else on TH-cam, I'm so glad you haven't changed your style, Dan. So simple and so good! It honestly feels like I'm watching a 2010 video and that alone makes me happy. Keep it up, dude! :D
The Lock Picking Lawyer of retro malware!!! :) Long-time watcher, thank you for your work over the years documenting these neat pieces of history for us.
I've joined around 2019 without any knowlage about viruses and anything. These videos helped me so much avoiding suspicious software and seeing what they are capeable of. Thanks for everything!
Been watching your channel since... Around 2015? I accidentally found it and ever since that day I became hooked to the whole virus/retro tech! Thank you for the fun times, hoping for more content, and you to stay safe!
I've been here since the Marbug virus video. Man, I hope you keep uploading! Your videos have been my favorite ones about software, since middle school up until after finishing college. Cheers bro :)
I forget how many years it's been since I've originally subscribed and started watching your videos, but I always enjoy them, no matter how long it takes. It's always a good time when you upload.
glad to see you're still around doing your thing here despite how busy rl can be, dan! i started watching your channel around the same time you started doing voiceovers for your vids and i really appreciate how your style has stayed the same over the years and how you talk about malware history - something that i've always quite enjoyed ever since way before youtube existed - in a way that's accessible for everyone :) i keep seeing people in the comments saying that your videos sparked their interest in this topic and i think that's honestly super cool
Missed ya man! I’ve enjoyed watching your chill, laid back virus videos for years and I’m glad to see you back! However, feel free to take breaks if you want, I’ll be here rewatching your old videos in the meantime. Keep up the great work!
Good job once again with yet another video. It's amazing the sheer number of existing viruses that are out there. I had never even heard of this one, in fact.
My man is still going. It’s amazing to see how much changes out there, but Dan here is always keeping to the same thing, showing us these viruses and whatnot. “Hello everyone,” has never sounded better to me before.
love it!! started watching when i was a kid, probably around 2014, still here today ! your channel is what started my interest in viruses and cybercrime and it's stuck to me wwwwww
honestly glad you are making more videos ive been watching you for a very long time and this channel was the main reason I got into technology in the first place
I've been watching this since i discovered your video about annoyer trojan. Didn't remember when did i discovered it but i feel enjoyed your commentary about it.
Been lurking for awhile now watching your channel and it's one of my favorites. Was wondering if at some point you might be able to do a few videos on early Macintosh viruses (Scores, WDEF, etc.) or if those are too rare to come by anymore? Great work Dan, always fun stuff.
Windows 98 was by far the most entertaining version of Windows for reasons like this. Windows 98 was made so danoct1 can make videos like these and continue to entertain us with Windows 98 long after its discontinuation.
man ive been here since i was 8, i hadnt watched you in a year ithought you stopped i just saw this! I love your vidfeos man i guess im coming back since like 2011
Ahh, you did something very similar to what I did in gdb this week, where I set a breakpoint in a for loop and just told it to go for 100,000 iterations... turns out that gdb skipping breakpoints is very slow.

Well, yes, it is!
