I needed desperately this time for someone to mention how they bite the stem end out of one type of acorn to preserve it, and another acorn they just try to eat first---or some such fact. Wish you had.

Do you rent them out for service? I would pay well to have a cute little squirrel come over and open nuts for me. Of course they would get first bite of each nut as a fringe benefit. How much per nut...$100, $1,000, $100, 000???? Ok, I can't afford to eat nuts anymore. Thanks for sharing the progress of the little chompers.

It is October 2 and we have TONS of acorns. I lawn sweep and put them in a bucket for the squirrels. I am curious why they choose particular ones? In the winter, I feed them black oiled sunflower seeds, but wish they (and the deer) would clean up the yard from all the acorns, but they don't. Curious why they don't hoard them all; we have thousands on the ground and in buckets for them.
Would love more info as to why they choose certain ones.
