'NOT SPONSORED!' Oh but if you wanna buy it use OUR code - bro fuckoff with your sales pitch! All the clippers you listed in the video are brilliant! This is merely a ploy for you to push TPOB's product and earn some cash. SIMPLE AS! Had Wahl offered to partner up with you, this video would be saying something like Wahl Magic clip is still the best and solid choice all round, it's lighter in your hand so less strain throughout your day etc etc. FutureBullshiter
I took my Magic for 20 thousand Russian rubles, and my salary per month is 26 thousand. American, do you have anything to compare it with? Understand? 😁
Could you help me. I can't decide what should I buy if wahl senior or magic cordless. Or maybe tpob X clipper. What should I go? Thank you and advanced.
Highly disagree respectfully. Been a barber for 15 years and wahl never disappoints for me. Still on the original cordless wahl senior I buy all the new shiny toys and I always go back. Gamma/style craft always go bad on me. Babyliss they’re better on the trimmer side but the seniors are just what I always go back to every time. Yea they need maintenance but if you know what you’re doing the seniors or magic clip will last you a lot longer then the Babyliss or gamma/style craft will ever last you. They try to put too much technology in them that causes more failure. That’s just my experience I’m a booked all day barber and wahl clippers, not trimmers last me all day and are more reliable for me. I know the other companies are trying to please the new generation with innovation but with innovation comes failure but you gotta sell so the community can give feedback to continue to innovate. But wahl just never disappoints if you know how to maintain them. Fortunately I know how to do my seniors last. I have 4 in my rotation but my original one is still my go to. If I’m not using it I don’t feel right. I use my mythic to speed through bulk but my seniors do all the fade work 100% if the time. Every barber’s experience will be different
As you saw from the video I’ve spent a lot of time with the cordless senior too. It’s one of the best all time for sure, it just doesn’t compete power-wise anymore 🤷♂️ Really this is more about how people shouldn’t buy the Magic Clip though, I fully support people buying the Senior if thats what they’re into 🙌 Thanks for watching bro!
@@FutureBarber yea I just recommend putting the tomb 45 in the clipper for that extra power and longer battery life. The motors do need a little boost. I feel like that’s gonna happen in 2024 honestly
@@rafsoto24 That would be cool! Would love to see something awesome released from them. Unfortunately I can’t get the Tomb45 battery shipped to Canada, but I have heard it’s a big improvement. 👌
got a pair of magic clips that have lasted me since i started cutting in 2017. got a pair of instincts that had their battery bug out on me mid cut. same with the alpha. honestly they’re still great to fade with and they do cut different to a lot of machines on the market. seniors/magics are so widely used bcause theyre so easy to fix/parts are accessible. now that these newer companies are becoming bigger they thankfully are getting better in regards to that. all in all, if my JRL onyx can last me the next 5 years i can truly say that they’re the top dog.
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Yeah the build quality is always good on the professional Wahl stuff. The Instinct has a lot of hype but they have notoriously bad motors. I wouldn’t recommend anyone get one until they fix the motor issues.
There is probably a lot of magic clip hate in here, but that was my first cordless, and there is something about the combination of the slow motor speed and those STD blades that is super forgiving and great for detailing fades.
Nah, a lot of people love the Magic Clip. Doesn’t really make sense to me to use a flaw like slow motor speed to justify it though. There’s no physical reason that a slow motor speed would be better for fade detailing. A blade is moving across another board really fast, and whether it’s 5000 or 7200rpm it’s not going to make a difference in the finish. Nothing wrong with having a preference for a magic clip if that’s what someone is used to, but we can’t be out here saying the low blade speed makes it better. Come on now man! 😂 On second thought, if it doesn’t do a good enough job of taking the hair off, I guess you have more chances at taking the right hair off, so maybe there’s something to the detailing bit. I would argue that having a clipper that does it right the first time is better, but I think I might see where you’re coming from. 🤙
@@FutureBarber the blade speed and blending correlation is not something I just made up on my post. It's something I've heard from multiple experienced barbers before I ever even thought of it..but I can easily imagine a slower moving blade is not cutting as much hair during each stroke. One thing I noticed when I upgraded to a faster clipper with more torque was not needing to go over the same spot as many times, and the sharpness of lines I left behind during each stroke. I felt like I had to work just a little harder to make sure those lines were blended out. Trimmers that have lower spm speeds tend to leave some hair behind in comparison to high spm trimmers as well, so there may be something to it. Maybe it's all anecdotal. To your point I could be wrong, but you cannot argue with results.
@@bcd398 Yeah I mean when we frame it that way it makes sense that it might take less hair and require more strokes but I would call put that down as a negative because the clipper is supposed to cut the hair. Totally get it though. I agree though, takes more finesse to not leave lines with any faster blade sharp clippers, but if it’s smoothness someone wants, there’s clippers out there that are smooth while still having fast blade speed, for example the JRL 2020C. I find my blends are a lot easier to detail with that than the standard fade blades of the Senior, Magic Clip etc. after your last comment I did half a haircut with a Magic Clip with an open mind to see if I could notice the benefit of the slower motor, but I’ll be honest, all it did was make me move slower because I had to keep going over it. I appreciate you pointing that out though, because I didn’t think about it that way. I still don’t think it’s a positive though! 😜 if I want smooth detailing I think the JRL is the way to go, especially when you consider the 4 hour battery life and more power. 🤙💈
@@FutureBarber hey well I appreciate the real world testing of my theory lol. Like I said, the "smoothness" I, and other barbers, experience with the Magic Clip could all be anecdotal, and potentially just comfort, familiarity, and/or maybe that Wahl STD blade that comes with the Magic Clip. It could all come down to our preference to a fade blade over the taper blade. Or it could just be a pinch of all the factors. I have no clue, but I do my best detail work with the Magic Clip. Btw I just subscribed. I still enjoyed the video, even tho I disagree about the pros/cons of the Magic Clip. I thought it was a really great walk down of clipper history.
Your insight is spot on as it pertains to the clipper game. I've been behind the chair for over 30 years and started with the brick heavy Andis Master as my go to clipper of choice before exploring Wahl and Oster. Those brands have been left in the dust by the likes of Stylecraft, Gamma, TPOB , JRL etc. All of the new offerings have made me a bonafide clipper addict and has refueled my love of the art of cutting and styling hair. Being in the game so long has afforded me the means to buy any and all clippers on my radar as I have more clients than I can handle nowadays, which as you may know keeps the fiscal machine lubricated quite nicely. Long story short great vid and you've gained a new subscriber. Oh and also ordered the Machete per your recommendation , really digging the Goblin and its twin by Stylecraft Instinct also. God speed and be blessed!
Thanks a lot man! I'm definitely a clipper addict too. I haven't tried the Goblin/Instinct yet but I hear good things. I've always liked the idea of a small clipper, just a little worried about the battery life. Plus they're ugly as hell, but I'll try to get ahold of one soon and give it a go! Thanks for watching pal!
@@Mr.Oct___ The Machete is a forgiving tool, what i mean is that the motor runs a little slower so will give you some wiggle room as far as removing too much hair like a more powerful clipper may. At this point I would highly suggest grabbing the TPOB Play clipper it does everything smooth and effortlessly, my new go to.
Crazy, I deadass jumped from cordless magic clip to tpob about 2 months ago and now I’m obsessed. I love everything the brand stands for and they are aesthetically way cooler than anything else on the market
@@royalmazan4216 not exactly! But I’m pretty sure you could find just about the same one on there for cheaper tbh, so that’s another option. Only thing is you never really know what you’re going to get until you order it. Customer service doesn’t exist on AliExpress either so if it’s bad your kinda hooped.
@@Mboy556 I can’t 100% confirm that it works corded because I haven’t tried but I imagine it does. It’s got really good battery life so I’ve never had an issue, especially because it comes with a charging dock that I put it in between haircuts. The Machete is only available on thepissedoffbarber.com and there’s really fast international shipping. Use code ‘FUTUREBARBER’ at checkout for a further discount as well. 🤙
Good video. But I think that Wahl is Wahl, no matter if their clippers are getting stuck with innovation. I got a Magic Clip since 4 years, and still working good when I’m fading and I don’t care about the sound. 4 years, I don’t know how many years these new brand clippers will guarantee you functionality. A barber partner bought a Stylecraft Instinct and two months later the spring broke off. At the end of the day clippers like Stylecraft, Gamma, TPOB, Caliber, Monster and many other brands came from the same factory. All they sell the same chinese technology.
It’s not really about the sounds, it’s more about them being underpowered, which they have improved with the new model, however it took 6 years for them to make that improvement. I think you’re right to view all the other Chinese made companies as a lower build quality than Wahl, but if I have the choice between lower build quality with high performance, or nice build quality in a weak clipper, I’m gonna choose the thing that helps me do my job better. It’s also important to point out that the Instinct that you mentioned is notoriously faulty. I flat out refused to buy one because it’s disgustingly overpriced, and I’m glad I avoided it because a lot of people have problems with it. At the end of the day it’s all about preference, and while I would love to have a well built clipper with top tier performance, we don’t really have that. I’d say the closest thing we have to that at the moment would be the JRL 2020C and the Babyliss LoProFX, but I’ll be putting out a clipper tier list soon so check back for that! Thanks for the comments and for watching! 💈
@@FutureBarber You’re right too. The perfect clippper doesn’t exist. Everybody choose the best for everyone, in the way of performance, budget and even how it feel in your hand. JRL it’s a good clipper, I got a LoProFX, for me it’s amazing, good for bulk and fading. Just a little detail, it takes a lot of time to full charge even when it’s not empty. I don’t know if that’s my clipper or everyone it’s the same. If you talk about it that’s gonna be interesting.
@@Johnny-ue5pq the LoProFX is a great clipper. I think it’s probably got the best power of a cordless, and it can fade pretty well in the right hands. I’m not a fan of the shape because it’s a little boxy compared to the classic Senior shape, but it’s probably a top 3 clipper out right now no question. 🤙
Wahl is tried and true compared to those italian clippers that burn out after a month. I know so many barbers that went back to wahl and andis because of those style craft and gammas keep crashing, and if they do last for months they look ran down and cheap.
One thing Wahl does really well is build quality, you're not wrong! I'm hoping they come out with some new stuff to compete with the performance of the new brands because if they pair that with their legendary build quality they could easily take over the game again! When I'm behind the chair I'm always going to prefer performance to build quality though, and Wahl hasn't been on the top performance-wise since the corded Senior days. Thanks for watching man!
WAHL is a godfather of clippers . I never had a disappoinment using WAHL . Especially this cordless magical clipppers . My all time personal favorite clipper
I used Wahl for years, but the reality is some of these new clipper companies are making better machines. I own like 6 cordless Wahl Seniors, but they sit in storage because they can’t keep up.
I’m just looking for a clipper for cutting my own hair at home. And after watching this video and reading the comments😅 Magic clipper still seems like the way to go.
Staggered blade basically works as thinning shears, "pointcut" during fade. I've bought one from gamma, works pretty well. I've found that it's also a bit more forgiving. So that's it haha
I hear ya man, and I know that's the point, I just like taking digs at it because I don't really see how it can actually do that based on the nature of how it moves. Perhaps I need to revisit it or throw it on a better clipper and give it more of a chance. Thanks for watching!
@@FutureBarber definitely good to try it, I've put Wahl blade on my Ergos, which I dont like so much on its own, but with the blade I can at least for me see some improvement. But overall I am JRL fan lately.
I’ve owned the same magic clipper for about 10 years and it works as it did when I first bout it. It does feel a bit on the weak side. I keep the blades lubricated to combat this. I have an oyster 76 for debulking thick hair. Battery on magic clipper lasts for a good 4/5 haircuts before charging. I own a babyliss fx clipper that I alternate but the magic charges fully in a fraction of the time compared to the babyliss. I’m actually going to buy a 5 star magic. Although these new brands that are trending may offer more power etc, the older style brands offer more consistency and durability. In the end they do the same thing, it is mostly about preference.
On my station right now is the JRL 2020C and the TPOB Machete. If you like the shape and weight of the Babyliss LoProFX that’s definitely up there as well. Those are probably my top 3. For magnetic clippers I like the Caliber .50cal BMG, it’s really good for fading but not as good for bulk. Best all around if I had to choose one would be the JRL 2020C. It’s good at everything, but I like using different clippers with different techniques so hard to pick just one. The JRL 2020C and TPOB Machete pair pretty much covers all bases at the moment.
I still love the corded Andis master, the Cadillac of clippers. The Oster fast feed, and the 76. I would like to try the TPOB though. Looks interesting
Corded tools hold a special place in my heart. They’re what I started on way back in the day. Cordless tools are a whole different animal, but there’s lots of choices and most are pretty pricey. It’s hard to choose, but we are going to try to give our best thoughts on as many of them as we buy, so stay tuned! Thanks for watching! 💈
I think its worth mentioning that there’s new and improved magic clip on the market called “gold magic clip edition” (it is the successor) which has a new and faster rpm motor, along with a new titanium, dlc coating blade and finally with wahl premium guards included in the box with charging stand as well. I have both clippers and I can definitely say the gold clippers are wayy better, they basically fixed all the issue with the old one The machete might beat the original magic clips but I don’t think it has a chance with the gold magic clips, if we are talking about the most bang for your buck
The Gold Magic Clip was upgraded to a 6500rpm motor, while the Machete advertises 7200rpm. Trust me, it still beats the new one. Not to mention the price is wayyy lower. In case you disagree, I just googled them both to be sure. If it was better I would have included it in the video. Trust me, I am not here to promote one brand over another, just value for viewers. Machete still wins.
Got a new magic clip last week, had other ones from like 2019, the new ones were mad like garbage. Didn’t last and would die in like few haircuts. My older ones still cut forever and stronger. Even the charger cord is different and they sound like they are dying and weak. They suck now. Just ordered a pair of TPOB ones so let see!
@@TirlaFlorin18 yeah they are okay for like back ups, they feel extremely cheap. But you can still do what you gotta do. Def good for back ups. But honestly better grabbing the babyliss pro fx870, used my boys pair other day for a haircut and they are super smooth and nice, beats the magic clip.
I was a master guy always had a senior on the side… now I use the instinct with an andis blade and an ergo.. hv 2 cordless seniors I never use, a jrl on the back burner
Well this video is about how the Machete was a better and more affordable option than the Magic Clip (even the new one tbh) but unfortunately it has been discontinued anyway. If someone comes out with another super good clipper for a great price I’ll make a video about that. 👌
TPOB doesn’t have “relationships” with the factories, he just buys them at the same price and slaps his branding on. I bought his instinct knock off, he couldn’t deliver it, so he sends ANOTHER knock off brands instinct called the ZClipper. When I reached out to him he got mad and blocked me instead of fixing the issue or giving an explanation
Yeah there’s definitely been tools that are the same with his branding, like the Goblin(Instinct), but a few of the newer ones he actually upgraded the internals and blades to make them better. At the end of the day the quality is either the same or better and the prices are lower, which is the point of the video. I’ve had customer service issues with all the brands, including TPOB, it’s kind of just luck of the draw. Also, you can’t order clippers fully customized with packaging from factories without first building a relationship and putting down a big deposit, that’s just the way it works. You gotta remember this is just a regular guy building a clipper company and not one of the big brands, and there’s gonna be some hiccups. He rage blocked me a couple years ago for the same reason, but I don’t take it personally. 😂 Thanks for watching man! 🤙
This is a brilliant video. I love all the comparisons and the demonstration of the sounds. Man some of those are LOUD! I’m convinced! I need one. Hook me up! 😊
I was tempted by a corded Wahl Magic Clip for about 60 euros (55 dollars). What will be then your choice under 100 USD, corded, for home usage and grooming tasks (hairs and beard)? I don't want a cordless option cause my previous tool lasted almost 25yrs, I want a replacement with constant power and a reliable components with no need of battery replacements.
If it’s for home use and you can get it for that price you should definitely do it! It’s a great clipper for home use, just bad for professional use compared to many others. 🤙
The Machete opens the same amount as the Rebel does, but Stylecraft has a stretch bracket you can put on if you want to that makes it open bigger. All of the clippers in the video open up pretty much identically.
TPOB seems cool, but the way these clippers are mass produced problems occur often, shipping from the states to the UK would be a drag if repairs are needed
Yeah I don’t know how returns and repairs work with TPOB at all, but I also haven’t had any problems so far. They’re pretty inexpensive and other tools use the same parts so I imagine it wouldn’t be that much of a headache to fix. A lot of companies just send new tools as replacement if it’s under warranty in my experience, but again I haven’t had to do that with these yet so I don’t know if TPOB does. 🤷♂️
But when its shipped into Europe are they any Taxes ? because for example tpob machete cost 109 = 126 euros + delivery = 29 euros = 155 euros for TPOB clipper and still not sure if i will not pay some taxes when it cross borders. So for example i can buy in Europe some gamma boosted here for 120 euros. So tell me how is this good option?
Not sure exactly what the total costs is when you order in Europe but in North America it ends up costing significantly less, especially when you use a discount code. If you can get the gamma boosted for less where you are it’s probably worth it to get that instead. 🤙
I seem to agree! I been a hobbyist for 6 years now. In barber school at the moment and I'm not feeling my corless Magic clips. Bought a new blade for it and not any better :( I got a pair of TPOB Demon trimmers. They're bad ass. Better than my Babyliss Gold trimmers. Do they still sell the Goblin clipper? I don't see it on their site anymore. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! They don’t sell the Goblin anymore because the vector motor used in that style of clipper is notoriously faulty. I think he plans on having it again one day once the problems are worked out. A lot of people are into that clipper but I’ve yet to use it. The Stylecraft Instinct (same clipper) is way overpriced where I live so it will probably be a while before I get my hands on one. I’d definitely rather pay TPOB prices for it, especially if it’s just to make a TH-cam video on it. 🤙💈
Nobody is arguing that it can’t do the job, just that almost every other tool is better and many cost a lot less. The popularity of the Magic Clip is what is on trial here. If people couldn’t cut hair with it it wouldn’t still be selling. My issue with it is people who are committed to it tell other people to use it and all of a sudden we have thousands of people using an inferior tool because they don’t know better. I bet you’d love using the Rebel or Machete if you tried.
@@vitagameplay I definitely agree with that. My old one was CRAZY loud. They’ve fixed the noise issue with the new ones though. I wouldn’t have recommended it before, but now I do, and the TPOB one is cheaper. Just trying to put out useful information to save people a few bucks. Thanks for watching! 💈🤙
My magic clip burned out just shy of a year. I actually liked it and felt relatively solid except for the adjustment lever being holo plastic. Will not buy another :(
@@onechain13 Yeah I always thought the same thing. Usually the build quality of Wahl is great, despite the other issues with lack of innovation. The lever always feels cheap on Magic Clips. Thanks for watching. 🤙
How can i buy a Tpob Machete? I tried finding one on Amazon with NO luck, then went to the official TPod website and the Machete is not longer listed as purchaseable. What happened to it and is your opinion still the same?
Hi there! Unfortunately it has been discontinued! I still use mine every day and picked up a couple spares while I could. If another company ever makes one as good as that for a decent price I will definitely make a video on it. Until then, the Stylecraft Rebel is the same machine, it’s just a little more money. If you don’t mind paying for it, I would recommend getting it!
I'm looking for a good home clipper, and decided to get the Machete after this video. But I cannot find it on the TPOB website or on Amazon. Does anyone know if it's been discontinued, or replaced by another model? Is the Troll the equivalent one? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! So bad news.. it seems the Machete is no more. Luckily I stocked up for myself! I am going to try to test some more and find an affordable professional grade trimmer that people can reasonably afford for home use and make a video sometime soon. Stay tuned! 💈
@@FutureBarber: Hey, doing a review of good clippers for home use would be amazing. I'm curious about which clippers have power for regular clips, are forgiving for those of us who are not pros, and maybe an idea of what's best at different price ranges. Thanks again!
Yes I would recommend the TPOB Machete from the video! Go to thepissedoffbarber.com and use code FUTUREBARBER at checkout for a discount. If you wanna try something with a different shape I would recommend the JRL 2020C. I don’t have a code for that one yet and it costs more but they are both great. @@simonwestra9532 I haven’t tried it personally but it looks okay! I didn’t like the original Babyliss FX clippers, but I think they made improvements. I’d still rather use a JRL or a Machete/Rebel 💈
Whals biggest mistake was not take the next step into innovation. Out comes babyliss blows everything out of the water, and they still refused to inovate. Once they did, they released the cordless detailer wich was in all honesty underwhelming and lacking. Having the upper hand on the market with years of experience, the lack of innovation is overwhelming.
I have only one clipper from tpob and it is The Troll and Id like it cus cant zero gap it and the blade keeps loose and thats a no no for me now If I can get blade like the magic clip on the troll than it should be better but I have tried the machete yet I have to use it first before buying cus I made a mistake with the troll
Huh? Not only are the prices much lower, but there’s also discount codes on top of that. Where I live the Rebel is $259 CAD and I order my Machete all in shipped for $170 CAD without a coupon code. I’d say that’s quite a bit cheaper lol
I like thw video but it's built on a faulty premise - the Magic Clip uas long been replaced by the Cordless Senior and there simply is nothing on the market that is superior to it - everything else is just "kind of" like them, but more expensive.
@@BobaDavis more people use the cordless Magic Clip than the cordless Senior. I agree the Senior is better, but this video is about how bad the Magic Clip is even though people keep buying it.
@@FutureBarber Where are you getting that information from? If any barber cuts thicker hair, they're probably using anything but a Magic Clip. Maybe, if the shop provides clippers but even then, that's just a budget move, in which case, that isn't going to change.
My magic clip has six years of shop use and is still my main clipper only having changed the blade twice, your style craft or tpob clipper will not last you six years any time I’ve bought gamma babyliss or tpob tools they’ve never lasted a few months before going bad waste of money wahl and andis have been around so long for a reason..
Even if it’s true that it won’t last as long, I’d rather use a better performing tool and buy it more often. Wahl and Andis definitely have better build quality for sure, but I haven’t had one of these cheap ones go bad on me in a short enough time that it wasn’t worth the price. Also, Wahl and Andis have been around for so long because there weren’t any other clippers worth buying. Times have changed, it’s time for those companies to change too.
Great review. I agree completely.... the noise! My God. Wahl is excellent though... But none are perfect. The new brands are excellent,. But getting them repaired is difficult. Customer service from the top three is excellent
I want a 100,000 rpm clipper with 1 year run time, so when I even get close to the hair it just flies off from the blade moving so fast. Also so I can just use one clipper all day. If I happen to get back to back clients, then fuck proper sanitation! I've got the do ALL clipper! Remember this baby has 1 year run time. 1 hour isn't nearly enough!
The thing about wahl is the don’t rush to put out something that’s not gonna last. The more power you put on a clipper the more wear your gonna have like cam followers. Magic clip isn’t for bulk cutting but more for blending and detailing hence the stagger tooth blade
Im thinking of buying Billpro Bl800 for bulking. Its a replica of JRLtrimmer.Seems nice enough from the videos. Its not for detailing but got the cordless detailer for that
. Subscribed! Loved the video; very impressed with channel's quality. Only 500 subs? Oh yeah, paired with your mission statement I read in the About section, that's definitely going to change real soon. Keep up the hard work brother!! OK I’ve a few questions from another perspective. I am not a barber, I just cut my own hair at home. For a few years now been using some cheap, corded clippers courtesy of my local Walmart. Considering my financial situation then, the cheaps have not been the best but always got job done good enough. Now that I can afford it, looking to upgrade to cordless, professional-grade ENTRY LEVEL clippers like the Wahl Magic Clips. Nothing fancy/extra i.e. longest battery life, less prone to heating up because of prolonged use; just a cord free, professional grade enough to get the job done, while also being an upgrade to my current cheap clipper, as well good enough performance in comparison to other professional clippers. Also more forgiving as I am still learning this skill (in my research it seems this is what the crunch blade would provide). The Magic Clips seem to be IT per these unique requirements, specifically durable build quality and backed by good customer service. However, I have considered TPOB for affordability. My concerns that steered me away from TPOB; build quality and customer service. Your video is making me reconsider TPOB, again because it's more affordable (who doesn’t wanna save an extra buck?) for a better performing product. *The questions:* [1] Are the Wahl Magic Clips suitable for at-home use ONLY, considering they'll be used less frequently than in a professional setting? For fading, trimming, clipper-over-comb-ing. I still plan to keep and use my cheap corded for bulk hair removal. Considering I cut every 2-4 weeks, never really an issue though that I have A LOT of hair needing to be removed. [2] If Magic Clips aren't ideal for home use, which TPOB clipper would you recommend instead, considering as of April 2024 the Machete isn't available on TPOB site? Thank you for your time, I look forward to your reply in the Future. .
Hey, thanks for the kind words! Yes, unfortunately the Machete seems to not be available anymore. I’m lucky I stocked up and bought a few! The Magic Clip wouldn’t be a horrible clipper for home use, but I wouldn’t call it affordable at all. If you were gonna spend that amount I’d recommend the cordless senior over that. As far as other TPOB clippers, I can’t speak to their quality. I got a Troll and I didn’t like it at all, but I think he has one that is similar to the magic clip in power and performance. I think it’s the Slime but don’t quote me on that. Those are very inexpensive on Amazon, but again I haven’t used one so I can’t totally vouch for it. I think the reality is that most professional clippers are expensive for a reason. Since I don’t really buy anything but what I think might be good, I’m not sure I can give you a good recommendation at this time. The Machete was totally the answer to that question before, which is one of the reasons I made the video, but I will have to keep my eye out for the next great deal! The TPOB Play shows a lot of promise to be one of the best clippers yet, but if I recommend that company too much everybody thinks I’m doing paid content for them lol. I won’t be doing a TPOB tool review for quite a while after all the cheesy backlash in the comments lol. If you can get a deal on a Magic Clip or Cordless Senior I say go for it, but I would never pay retail price for those. Sorry if this doesn’t help much! I appreciate you watching. 💈
Having an affiliate link to earn money based on my effort to make a video that happens to have a product I like in it is different than being paid to make it. I made this video before I had the link, which is why it’s not in the video. If you think $36 of affiliate link money in a few months is worth the 3 days I spent editing this video you are sadly mistaken lol. Secondly, I like Wahl clippers too. I have many Wahl clippers but only keep the good ones. The cordless Magic Clip is overrated and underpowered, that’s what this video is about. I’ve done more haircuts with Wahl clippers than you probably ever will. This video is an opinion, and is meant to inform people of a better option. The Machete isn’t even an original TPOB designed clipper, it just happens to be the least expensive version of a clipper I believe is way better than the Magic Clip for the money. Believe it or not, not everyone is trying to swindle you. Relax.
True, but if we are going to do it anyway, why use a tool that isn’t as good? Seems pretty insane to me. I could use a crappy Conair clipper from Walmart and do a good fade, but I choose not to punish myself. 🤷♂️
Not an ad at all, Magic Clips suck, and I’m letting people know that if they want an alternative that’s better and cheaper, they should get a Machete. If a company comes out with a better option, I would recommend that. In fact, I would personally make some improvements to make it even better but I don’t have my own clipper company. If I include an affiliate link for any company and get a kickback for making a sale that’s me being paid for my effort leading to a sale. For the record I’ve made $9 from my affiliate link to date and I promise you that’s not worth the time I put into this video. The entire reason I started this channel is because a lot of the ones I used to watch are all sponsored now and I don’t trust them. Believe me, this channel will never be bought. Affiliate links are absolutely nothing like sponsored ads. lol
Never heard of that one before! Looks like its the same as the Calibre .50cal. Most of the cordless magnetic clippers out there these days are decent and that looks to be from the same factory. Not good for bulk, but if you can find a cheaper version good on ya! They're awesome for fading and fine-medium hair in my experience.
If you think I’d have to be sponsored by TPOB to say the Magic Clip is garbage, I cannot help you. Showing people a good clipper at a good price, not all TPOB stuff is good.
@@Junior25th yup! Unfortunately a lot of people missed out. They discontinued it. In its place I’d recommend the Stylecraft Rebel if you like this style of clipper. It’s the same thing, just costs a little more. I made the video to help people save some money at the time. 🤙
Nobody buys this channel dude! lol. Magic Clips are trash and I figured I might as well provide a cheaper better option. If you think I’d have to be paid to say the Magic Clip is bad I’ve got a bridge to sell you. 😉
No thanks. I will stick to my completely silent original Moser/Wahl Chromstyle and Kuno and my T-cut with detachable blades, which are feather weight and which have never ever disappointed me. You can have those chubby 70's thing which take agea to charge. Kuno has a 60min charge WITH a fast 15 min 80% charge, get a life. Made in German. Period.
At the moment, I agree 100%. As soon as these legacy companies find a way to pair high build quality with high performance they could be at the top of the game real fast. At this rate it doesn’t seem likely anytime soon, but hey, competition breeds innovation. I’m just stoked we have a lot of options these days and it looks like it will only continue to advance. Thanks for watching!
It is my personal opinion that the clipper I mentioned in the video is better and cheaper than a Wahl Magic Clip, based on using them. That clipper isn’t even available anymore which is unfortunate. The Stylecraft Rebel is the same and still a better option, but I think the price is way too high, which is another reason I made the video. I am nobody’s rival. I am making videos to show people good value. Not everything has to be dramatic lol.

"Not biased"
Yea right lmao.
5:38 not sponsored but extremely biased the fact that u have a discount code with them says it all.
💯 agree
Im also a wahl baber Yes they need to work and more power with these cordless clips but over all They still cuts better
got a pair of magic clips that have lasted me since i started cutting in 2017. got a pair of instincts that had their battery bug out on me mid cut. same with the alpha. honestly they’re still great to fade with and they do cut different to a lot of machines on the market. seniors/magics are so widely used bcause theyre so easy to fix/parts are accessible. now that these newer companies are becoming bigger they thankfully are getting better in regards to that. all in all, if my JRL onyx can last me the next 5 years i can truly say that they’re the top dog.
excellent video tho excited to see what else you provide the industry!
@@bcd398 thanks for sticking around man! Appreciate ya. 🤙
Thoughts on the Machete?
@@Mr.Oct___ The Machete is a forgiving tool, what i mean is that the motor runs a little slower so will give you some wiggle room as far as removing too much hair like a more powerful clipper may. At this point I would highly suggest grabbing the TPOB Play clipper it does everything smooth and effortlessly, my new go to.
@@robcrawford1092 mmmm….Thank u brother.

@@FutureBarber Exactly. LoProFX in the right hands make wonderful cuts. In top 3, no doubt about it.

Thanks a lot! I’ve been meant to try the Wez Tech. Hopefully I’ll get one soon. Thanks for watching! 💈
What would you say is the best clippers out right now?.. not worrying about budget.

I think its worth mentioning that there’s new and improved magic clip on the market called “gold magic clip edition” (it is the successor) which has a new and faster rpm motor, along with a new titanium, dlc coating blade and finally with wahl premium guards included in the box with charging stand as well. I have both clippers and I can definitely say the gold clippers are wayy better, they basically fixed all the issue with the old one
The machete might beat the original magic clips but I don’t think it has a chance with the gold magic clips, if we are talking about the most bang for your buck

Maquinas chinas costosas que duran poco, tengo una magic clip con motor 7200 y hoja faper
Yea but tpob lever doesnt open far enough. It only has 4 clickd
The Machete opens the same amount as the Rebel does, but Stylecraft has a stretch bracket you can put on if you want to that makes it open bigger. All of the clippers in the video open up pretty much identically.
Magic clips the go to first clipper because it a good recommended first clipper for 100$
I think you should check the price again. Magic Clips cost more than the Machete. I wouldn't recommend anybody use a more expensive and worse tool.
Tbh theres nothing wrong with the magic clip. I still put out blurry fades with it. Its not the clippers tho its more on your skills and techniques
@FutureBarber I get you. I had the rebel but sold it. Didn't like how loud they got but everything was good on the clipper

@@FutureBarber: Hey, doing a review of good clippers for home use would be amazing. I'm curious about which clippers have power for regular clips, are forgiving for those of us who are not pros, and maybe an idea of what's best at different price ranges. Thanks again!
I'm starting barbering an got some tpobs for my first sets of clippers an trimmers with the shaver
Those bundles are great for beginners! I wish I had something that good when I started. Thanks for watching!
How bout some cordless sterling 9?
I have been using corded magic clip I really like is there some other clippers you would recommend?
Yes I would recommend the TPOB Machete from the video! Go to thepissedoffbarber.com and use code FUTUREBARBER at checkout for a discount. If you wanna try something with a different shape I would recommend the JRL 2020C. I don’t have a code for that one yet and it costs more but they are both great. They’re the two I currently run at my station. 🤙
Hi, what's you're opinion about the new BaByliss Pro FXONE Lo-ProFX
@@simonwestra9532 I haven’t tried it personally but it looks okay! I didn’t like the original Babyliss FX clippers, but I think they made improvements. I’d still rather use a JRL or a Machete/Rebel 💈
Whals biggest mistake was not take the next step into innovation. Out comes babyliss blows everything out of the water, and they still refused to inovate. Once they did, they released the cordless detailer wich was in all honesty underwhelming and lacking. Having the upper hand on the market with years of experience, the lack of innovation is overwhelming.
Every time they announce something new is coming I get really excited, then they come out with something super dissatisfying. 😔
Thank U 🫵🏼
Great info 👍🏼
You the Man 🫵🏼
Peace ✌🏼
Is the angle of the blades, they're different on the magic clips, I think it just matters on how you hold your clippers. I personally dont like them.
Not hold them really but how you rock it out. I think uall know what I mean can't explain it
I have only one clipper from tpob and it is The Troll and Id like it cus cant zero gap it and the blade keeps loose and thats a no no for me now If I can get blade like the magic clip on the troll than it should be better but I have tried the machete yet I have to use it first before buying cus I made a mistake with the troll
You can definitely zero gap the Troll, I’ve done it to mine. Honestly the Machete is better though. I’m not a fan of the Troll.
I still have my cord seniors💯
Classics. 🤙💈
I got 3 magic clips looking nice on my station 😋
Tpob is fire I can confirm but the magic clip is fire too so idk
don't forget me when ur big
No. I'll buy 2 more
I wouldnt say tpob is too much cheaper then its counterpart
Huh? Not only are the prices much lower, but there’s also discount codes on top of that. Where I live the Rebel is $259 CAD and I order my Machete all in shipped for $170 CAD without a coupon code. I’d say that’s quite a bit cheaper lol
still Magic clipper is my best choice
Cool
TPOB for the win 🙌
Slaying the game.
En Argentina no nos podemos dar el gusto de comprar maquinas tan cara q duran poco
jRL onyx top. It is very quiet and durable
The JRL Onyx is very good. I use one every day on my station. My two mains are the JRL Onyx and the TPOB Machete. 👌
Wahl Seniors are a great clipper.
@@MB-vk8cv I agree! 💈
volume please..✌😁
Great review. I agree completely.... the noise! My God. Wahl is excellent though... But none are perfect.
The new brands are excellent,. But getting them repaired is difficult. Customer service from the top three is excellent
That magic clip blade makes me wanna buy a whole new magic clip cordless Lol the regular magic clip, the gold magic clip blade is wack
Or just stop buying Magic Clips altogether because they are trash lol
@@FutureBarber nah amma still buy it 🤣😭
I want a 100,000 rpm clipper with 1 year run time, so when I even get close to the hair it just flies off from the blade moving so fast. Also so I can just use one clipper all day. If I happen to get back to back clients, then fuck proper sanitation! I've got the do ALL clipper! Remember this baby has 1 year run time. 1 hour isn't nearly enough!
@@soevasive one can dream. Haha! 🤣 💈
Machete the best clipper on the market
It’s one of my top 3 at the moment for sure!
Its not for detailing but got the cordless detailer for that
That staggered tooth blade cuts more hair
It definitely does not bro. 😂
Litteraly made me buy a machete
Hell yeah man! You're gonna love it.
I don’t support negative trolls. That’s what this world needs less of.
You do you friend! Just offering my opinion.

*The questions:*
[1] Are the Wahl Magic Clips suitable for at-home use ONLY, considering they'll be used less frequently than in a professional setting?
Don’t listen to this paid shill.
Wahl clippers has lasted me longer than any of these AliExpress clippers
Relax.
Wahl has fallen off a long time ago. Noisey machines with trash battery life.
They always have pretty high build quality though! We have to give them that credit. Hopefully one day they'll pair that with a clipper worth using!
Wahl build quality nosedived years back.
And a good barber can cut and fade with anything
True, but if we are going to do it anyway, why use a tool that isn’t as good? Seems pretty insane to me. I could use a crappy Conair clipper from Walmart and do a good fade, but I choose not to punish myself. 🤷♂️

TPOB phantom!
Decent magnetic clipper. 👌
Wahl is like nokia sooner will disappear if they still coming out same thing but only different colour and name
You got that right!
More videos pls
Soon! Thanks for watching! 😀
Throw a crunch blade on a jrl and thank me later!
Interesting, I didn’t know it fit on there. I’ll have to give it a try! Thanks for watching! 💈
@@FutureBarber i have a crunch blade on mines with a fusion guide blade and it mows!!!
So cutting blade wahl crunch and guide blade the fusion from style craft and it even feels more powerful
But just by adding the crunch cutting blade the top can vary. In my experience at least.
@@rjdbarber1613 Looks like I’ve got an experiment for my spare JRL! 🤙 I think I have a spare SC fusion blade lying around as well.
So all it is…. Its just a paid ad
Affiliate links are absolutely nothing like sponsored ads. lol
Jrl still the best
JRL is dope. Different style of clipper though.
❤JBL ONYX!!!!!
My favorite clipper is wmark 9001
Never heard of that one before! Looks like its the same as the Calibre .50cal. Most of the cordless magnetic clippers out there these days are decent and that looks to be from the same factory. Not good for bulk, but if you can find a cheaper version good on ya! They're awesome for fading and fine-medium hair in my experience.
I did not like how the magic clip cut at all was definitely over rated 👎🏽
Big time agree. 👌
This guy obviously is a tpob sponsor 😂😂 tf out of here
If you think I’d have to be sponsored by TPOB to say the Magic Clip is garbage, I cannot help you. Showing people a good clipper at a good price, not all TPOB stuff is good.
Machete doesn't exist I checked their site & Amazon
@@Junior25th yup! Unfortunately a lot of people missed out. They discontinued it. In its place I’d recommend the Stylecraft Rebel if you like this style of clipper. It’s the same thing, just costs a little more. I made the video to help people save some money at the time. 🤙
How much did they pay you 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nobody buys this channel dude! lol. Magic Clips are trash and I figured I might as well provide a cheaper better option. If you think I’d have to be paid to say the Magic Clip is bad I’ve got a bridge to sell you. 😉
Gamma is trash. I tried them
Nobody is trying to convince you to use Gamma lol. Thanks for watching though!
Period.
@@everydaybarberlondon never heard of them! I’ll have to check them out. 💈
Wahl pricing high , and brand also trust but, zero innovative product
Wahl overrated
At the moment, I agree 100%. As soon as these legacy companies find a way to pair high build quality with high performance they could be at the top of the game real fast. At this rate it doesn’t seem likely anytime soon, but hey, competition breeds innovation. I’m just stoked we have a lot of options these days and it looks like it will only continue to advance. Thanks for watching!
This is just a hit piece from a rival.Wahl will outlive topb
It is my personal opinion that the clipper I mentioned in the video is better and cheaper than a Wahl Magic Clip, based on using them. That clipper isn’t even available anymore which is unfortunate. The Stylecraft Rebel is the same and still a better option, but I think the price is way too high, which is another reason I made the video. I am nobody’s rival. I am making videos to show people good value. Not everything has to be dramatic lol.
