When I saw this card I thought to myself "Hm, there's got to be a way to cast this on turn 2. Hope Legenvd makes a video about it so I can learn how" lol
a bunch of wizards gather at a leyline and then an ocean god sees them and says “god DAMN that’s a lotta wizards” and then she smites the enemy gamer out of existence
Yep and the best part was the fact that it was a red deck...I absolutely despise the high speed element of red because even with mana ramp and a perfect opening hand it's not enough to counteract or otherwise pressure them enough to give you the breathing room and time needed to pop off
I really appreciate showing the losses! The "reality check" as you put it is so nice to see as opposed to just cherry picking the wins from a series of games.
Always interesting to see what broken combos are possible in other formats, but apart from seeing a few opposing decks, it tends to feel a bite rote to me. On the other hand I can easily watch 2 hours of back and forth Standard or Draft with more varied play patterns even in a combo deck.
Just the nature of "win/lose the game" combo decks usually, especially thoracle. They don't really have a fair non-combo way to win the game usually so the play pattern is very same-y. At least that's my experience/view of them. At least this deck you can actually interact with the opponent to some degree, it's not just "tutor and protect my combo pieces".
I really like the idea! I think this is the typical deck where Enigma Jewel could shine: it's a 1 drop that increases devotion, and the ability makes Nikthos free. It can also be used with Vizier, which is useful in those cases where you could untap Nikthos but you wouldn't have the required mana to use the ability. Also, if you feel that's not enough payoff you could always add an additional Otawara or Castle Vantress, without changing a single nonland card in the deck. The transformed side would be incredibly useful too: if you exile a Vizier, you can untap two lands for free as soon as you craft it, and if you exile one Jace you can loot twice in the same turn. That's probably enough to basically craft it for free (you could even target Nikthos twice and go full control!). I feel it could be worth experimenting with.
Basically Pioneer for Arena. Every standard set that is available on Arena can be used with no Alchemy or Historic cards allowed, though a couple of Explorer Anthologies have been released, and you also can use the Kaladesh/Amonkhet/Innistrad Remastered sets.
dammit I want this deck right now. I mainly play Standard and only have a very subpar mill for explorer, historic and timeless. this deck seems exciting, even though you can't actually recommend playing it
@@dinklebob1 my idea was to have it for some redundancy for Kiora and the cycle untapper to allow for an early mana boost but yeah probably not worth having a tapper land that you can't play alongside nykthos in the first 3 turns of the game.
I think match 6 was the first time I've seen you actually concede a game. I mean, plenty where you were dead lost, but I don't think I've seen you hit the concede button before.
You have some really cool deck ideas but the games you’re showing are always against obvious noobs, who can’t even play efficiently. Would be nice to see if your decks could hold up against actually good players.
If you’ve watched his content for a while you would know that he’s gone against some tough match ups before and he will highlight decks weaknesses as well. When they have early access events he faces other content creators that are pretty good players as well.
If you think you're good enough to call them obvious noobs, you should be good enough to understand that a durdly combo deck isn't going to be good in best of one. Just enjoy it for what it is without having to try and show everyone how cool and unimpressed you are.
Tomorrow's Standard video should be going up on the MTG Arena channel:

hooray! welcome back to it!

I got you fam.
xD
Big brain legenvd back at it again
The first time I saw him even talk about it he mentioned Leyline of Anticipation.
While Ultimate guard has your collection covered, LVD has the decklist covered, litterally.
A fair devotion thoracle!? It's a miracle!
this deck is such a huge flavor win. a bunch of wizards gather at a leyline to generate enough knowledge and mana to win the game
a bunch of wizards gather at a leyline and then an ocean god sees them and says “god DAMN that’s a lotta wizards” and then she smites the enemy gamer out of existence
That last turn was BRUTAL. Dude was all set to combo off and you just turned it all off.

Whoa, and ACTUAL concession from the man himself? Crazy
Christ I need more mythic wildcards
history's seventh recorded use of fair thoracle

Tis the soul of wit
Match 6 was an lvd concession. Super rare.

Worth exploring!
this deck is so fine tuned 💯
Can someone explain to me what Explorer is?

@@aeolus7762 So it's like standard but bigger? Also...what's pioneer?
@@Say_Tin that is easily findable with google
@Say_Tin That is a way to put it, yes. Pioneer is the official Wizards format not on arena that is anything from Return to Ravnica to present.
@@aeolus7762 I see, thank you!

Someone had to do it 🤣
I wonder if a few lotus fiels could be worth it just to have a few extra "nykthos" copies in the deck.
It doesn't scale with devotion. I don't know if it would make enough of a difference to justify the land sac downside. But maybe?

32:11 I've watched literally dozens of LVD videos to completion, and I have never once seen him concede a game 😲
Hey LVD, great deck.
Did you plan on make a deck around Mindslaver?
Cheers from Brazil
anyone has that decklist of his 1st enemy the izzet one?

i used to watch yuour stream on twitch, does he stream anymore?
Enjoy the explorer content. Fun looking deck and cool games, even if it isn't the most viable.
Normaly Thoricle mostly just bothers me but this is a good use.
Why spend 4 mana to cast Lotus when all your untappers can untap the Land you got in play already?
Lotus doesn't cost 2 extra mana to activate, so if we untap it twice it already payed for itself.
This might be the bluest deck I have ever seen such wow
Silver, leyline or fold
Sweet!
I hear Jace hangs dong in this set
Impeccable penis joke
"Jace hangs dong"?
maybe i suck at this deck but i just went 0-5 with it.
Like I said in the outro, it's not a competitive deck.
Hype
Imagine having a new standard and not playing standard, smh
I posted 10 new Standard videos already, smh.
@@LegenVD Only 2 in the actual standard ladder everyone can play :|
There’s more on the MTGA channel.
Decks that try to win on turn 3 saying good game is such a tilt, no! was not a good game, there was no game mf
I'm sorry but decks that bore your opponent to death are not viable imo
Ugh
