    Excellent guide, I'd been doing lenses but wasnt sure how to move on to these tear shaped stones. Used your guide as a reference to do other colors and it turned out great.

      It’s one of my earlier videos, so the production level isn’t the best but I’m glad you were still able to follow the process and adapt it to use it for different colour recipes 👍

    Just came across this recently and I gotta say that the end result is amazing. Would this also be applicable to other kinds of gemstones?
    Keep it up man, you're doing an amazing work.

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
      Absolutely, this approach will work on any gemstone.
      Work from dark in a top corner to bright in the opposite bottom corner and add a glint and you’re sorted.

    Do you have advice for how to paint the little blood vials seen on some blood angel models?

  • @cremationtv9132
    @cremationtv9132 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for sharing! Been looking for a great technique for my blood angels! Though I have to ask. How come you dont add gloss to the blood stones?

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching, glad you found it useful.
      I don’t tend to add a gloss to the gems because I already paint on the white dots for the light glinting.
      By making it glossy I find it spoils that effect by the real world gloss glint.
      If that makes sense?
      Of course, if you like the gloss look, go for it 👍🏻

    Looks great. Is it reasonably straight forward to get a similar result on smaller stones and for example the blood drop on the BA Primaris shoulder pad? Thanks

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Absolutely, the process is exactly the same. I only picked this one to make it easier for people to see the steps.
      There’s a pic of a BA shoulder pad gem on my instagram painted the same way, if you can check it out? Brushstroke77 on Instagram :)

    Thank you very much for this video! Fantastic way to paint these blood stones.
    However, it is not always easy to follow you, because the focus is not quite right and the video is blurry, but I guess this is criticism on a high level :P
    Keep it up ;)

    You wouldn’t happen to have a Vallejo equivalent list would ya?

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have all the Vallejo equivalents, so I can’t confirm that they are true matches, but this is the best comparison chart I’ve found.
      Hope it helps

    For once something that requires several colours and i actually have those colours 😭😭

  • @StormcastMarine
    @StormcastMarine 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Multiple layers to build up a solid color.
    Space hulk squad has 150 gems, so that's 450 coats. Great, they are black now.

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re after a quicker, table-top solution can I recommend painting them a bright silver, wash them with a black to add gradient and then glaze with red (or whichever colour you’d like)?

  • @datensaft
    @datensaft 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would have preferred that you demonstrated this on a real blood drop found on most marine minis.
    But instead you choose to get the biggest one available that is also flat instead of the curved ones found on most armours.
    ...almost as if you are not able to pull this of on a smaller scale.
    It does not help to know how to paint this on a large surface, if it does not translate into reality. You could have just painted a blood drop on a piece of paper in any scale, if you just wanted to demonstrate the PATTERN.
    It would be the same to me, if you released a video on how to paint the eyes of a 25mm mini and proceed to demonstrate it on a 1:1 scale bust, just because its easier to film.
