In this video I will show you how to remove and reinstall wheel lug studs without the use of a press. I install ARP studs on my MR2.

my damn new studs wont sink in. even borrowed an impact wrench and its not powerful enough. i tried to use some emory cloth to sand down inside the hole and its still too tight no way i can get them seated in. im wondering if the kid at autozone gave me the wrong studs or something.
What was your solution on this? I'm having the same issue but I'm pretty sure i have the right lug stud. It just seems like the hole is too rusted and the new studs won't get seated.
@@Rggauthier1087 i went back to the part store and the first guy had given me the wrong studs. new ones went right in with the impact wrench.
sounds like the wrong one. if you got the studs out, the new ones should go right back in.
Why is it your specific car had NO issue with clearance to remove that stud..?? Every other car i have seen they have to bend and cut shit out the way to allow the stud to be pulled out OR they even cut the stud in half to allow it to be removed easy ...
Great video.. so what do I do if while tightening the new wheel studs they spinning..? 😩😩 I’m using hand tools, ratchet and a socket.!
thank u so much! i do have 1 question and maybe its stupid but i dont have an impact available right now &&im doing everything manually.... so basicailly, do i need to use the washer/bolts when i put new studs in manually? should i use the torque wrench to put them in? what is the best way to make sure they are secure without the impact wrench? HELP
Do you know how much larger diameter the stud knurl should be than the hole in the axle the stud is getting pressed into? Thanks
For most Toyota or Lexus 5x114.3mm (4.5), the knurl will be 14.20mm.
Working on 07 Fj Cruiser rear studs
How do I know the splines are lined up
Do I need to make sure?
Other videos make it look like it slides right into the groves before they tighten them
they tend to slide right back into the original grooves
what's the size of the opening on your hub. i need to replace my studs for longer ones due to spacers?
one of the best videos on youtube I have seen on this topic installing wheel studs happy I found it thank you
Would it be better when installing the new stud to use a deep socket and an open-ended lug or nut so that any potential damage to the thread isn't on the material that the lug nut would be in contact with?
Not a bad idea but generally no damage happens unless you have the wrong studs.
Can new studs be "drawn thru" using just the washers and threads method on a VIRGIN AXLE? Meaning, a brand new axle that has NEVER had STUDS before? Virgin pilot hole???
Yeah just pop the hymen and you are good to go my guy
Thanks for putting this together. Had a stud break the other day and this is a huge help. What kind of lube did you use when installing the new stud?
Do the wrk on Toyota vehicles ??????? I have a verossa I want to knw if wud it wrk on it ???
is it possible to seat a new stud with a breaker bar if you do not have access to a impact driver???
it will take a lot of effort but yes, its possible!
@@EngineerFreely DONE!
It worked well after ensuring it was clean w/ a wire brush and a bit of grease on the base of the stud... Toyota sienna. Thx 👍
Very useful. Thank you.
What size was the stud?
Did you already have matrix studs installed in the front?
Well done 👍
This is great, but how did you gt the dust shield off? Mine is completely in the way and I can't find space anywhere to get the old studs out and new ones in.
On most cars there is a spot on the back that is open and not in the way. What vehicle is it?
Matthew Sprague hey I have a 2006 avalon and I have rotated hub and there doesn't seem to been enough cut out on the shield was thinking cutting a Lil bit with Dremel metal cutting discs
Any suggestions
NEVER hammer the studs out, unless you like early bearing failure. The tire takes all the impact when driving and does not transfer the same force
Unless you have the tools to "press" them out while its still mounted... what do you recommend?
Thanks for very nice knowledgeable video
Thanks for very knowledgeable knowledgeable video
Is it the same thing for front or back of the car?
For the front you have to remove the flux capacitirs
For the back on some you have to uninstall drums or emergency brake disc/drum combo before doing this.
Excellent-complete, Thanks.
Subscribed, great video.
What is the part # on those studs??!
Thanks
