When I was younger, I was really into retro video games, and especially the Game Boy. So when I heard there was a Game Boy with a backlight that I could play in the dark, I was soo excited! I legit imported one from Japan when I was like, 12. It's still my favourite console ever! I played countless hours on it, and have even worn down the paint. I absolutely recommend it as the definitive way to play Game Boy games. The indigo lighting, like you said, is super easy on the eyes. Truly a wonderful console.

I swear my cousin had a Gameboy Light when I was a kid. We went camping and I was jealous of the lit display. I also remember it being silver. Which is really odd since we live in Texas.
If your cousin ever went to an airport they sell international items I remember seeing them for sale in the U.S. in gaming shops but only in the airport.
Huh. I was able to use my Game Boy for mass genocide flawlessly.

I think the Game Boy Pocket screen is a little larger than on Light.
Here is my research:
Game Boy classic: 46 x 42 (III)
Game Boy Color: 44 x 40 (IV)
Game Boy pocket: 48 x 43 (I)
Game Boy light: 47 x 42,5 (II)

Your GB Light screen looks really nice. Mine looks horribly fuzzy. Can't even play it in the dark.

The only downside is nintendo didn't add a fucking backlight until the Gameboy advanced SP.
Also I own 2 frontlight version of the GBA SP, however I was born in 2003 and played the system when I was 4 and 5.

U didnt mention the screen refreshing rate plus the faint black vertical lines on high density pixels area issue on the pocket, by the way i have no battery level indicator on my pocket ?? Does this mean that iam holding an extremly rare unit ?
Not particularly rare just an early unit from before mid-1997 or so.
I am watching this to try to figure out if that sparkly screen is unique to Gameboy Light

I've noticed that some GBL's have blue backlights and some green. Is it a different hue for each the silver and gold edition?
I'd personally avoid the early Game Boy Pocket models - the lack of a battery indicator light gets VERY annoying, and leads to a lot of situations like the end of this video except without the dim light letting ya know it's about to go.

That's what makes it awesome less strain on your eyes with EL backlight compared to an LED and doesnt use as much power
