Most beautiful piece of music to ever be used in a soundtrack, absolutely arouses the emotional responses. You're not human if you don't agree. Also Greatest movie Jeff bridges starred in.
This is my favorite movie. The soundtrack is a compilation of some of the most beautiful music ever created. I watch this movie @ least once a month. What a beautiful take on humanity and a love that will never die.
this film has always left me with the most beautiful melancholy, the kind of sad that is happy and leaves you hopeful. leaves you day dreaming about the kind of world that we could have that we should have. the film 2010 always leaves me with the same kind of feeling, when David says somethings going to happen, something wonderful. and all the monoliths fill the sky flying out in every direction to bring life to every corner of the galaxy and to know that we are no longer alone.
This film is why I love movies it was the first I remember watching and it’s still with me today especially when I’m at my lowest moments . It needs a reboot or sequel ! Fuck it I’ll write it myself
The Synclavier II digital music system was used extensively to create the soundtrack and sound effects for the film. Starman is one of my all time favourite Sci Fi films and my favourite electronic soundtrack
Starman, The Last Starfighter, Krull, The Mosquito Coast, The Keep, The Legend, Flight Of The Navigator, Empire Of The Sun, The Neverending Story, as well other films that I had the luxury to watch as a kid in the 80's just all around compelling soundtracks - Starman is out of this world!!!!
I watch now and then on DVD. I can close my eyes and remember this music playing all around me at the Drive In. For those of you born after 1990. We actually drove our cars into a giant 10 acre complex and parked about 250+ cars to watch a movie on a giant outdoor screen. It was being played through speakers all throughout the complex and on one hanging in your car window. I really miss seeing movies like that; under the stars with the night breeze.
The part where he brought the deer back to life was really a touching scene it had me in tears,Let us hope that when we do travel in space and find other life and it's friendly would the best thing man could ever have.
A lot of people don't know this, but Starman was produced my Michael Douglas. It was written well before ET in 1982, should have been a huge hit, but the name and the times didn't work. A shame. Always a reccomendation to friends.
Its a cult film for movie connoisseur like us just like Pulp Fiction is a cult movie. The cuts, story , music , actors it fits the bill for legendary in its own way.
The end title and intro to "Plainsong" by the cure are so similar and both bring out emotion in me every time I listen to them. The gift that music brings to take you away for one brief moment is so powerful.
One of my favorites… So glad that they were showing the world that a lot of us were not from here. I’m not from here either and I cannot wait to get back home … 😢I miss my family so so much, my people.. I never want to come back to earth ever again.. no pon intended against the human species.. it’s just not my thing to be in this type of form... unfortunately, I was sentenced here for 1000 years and my sentence is almost finished so I can give my report… soooo excited .. our time is very different than earth time and so many other things are different.. but it’s cool…
This movie. The soundtrack. Beautiful and memorable. So much in fact, as I was waiting for the season finale of GoT on HBO, I heard a small sound clip of the soundtrack in the background music of Dan Black’s “Symphonies” as they aired the preview for the new Zendaya series, “Euphoria” and I perked right up. Recognized it right away... that’s the music to Starman! Haven’t watched the movie in 30 years yet I remembered it’s beautifully haunting melody. Crazy.
My favourite film of all time and the first film I remember watching ever ! I want it to get a remake so bad . How cool could they make it look with today’s technology and it has a ready made sequel . And these theme WOW I LOVE IT
Its sad to know movies of this quality will never be made again... filmmakers got to change their storylines...regain emotion and a spark of difference...everyone is doing the same thing...point of films is for people to feel happy, and joyous coming out the movies with their dates...not by watching stupid, violent, movies that only represent mediocracy.
Sat enthralled with this film back in 1984 at a cinema in London. Was very moved by it I remember. The soundtrack is sublime. One of those that makes your heart soar.
J'adore ce film, un mélanger réussi de romance et de science-fiction. Je ne me lasse pas de le revoir et ça me fait verser une larme à chaque fois. Et Karen Allen était bien mignonne ;)
Maybe because producers lost that "felling". Old movies, the stories look almost real. Today special effects, violence, some movies are garbage. Sorry my english, I'm portuguese, born in 1981, and saw starman first time in 86.
fies diesel You have good English sir. I was born in 80 and like you, I also seen it for the first time around 86. I must have seen it 20 times in my life, and I hope to see it at least 20 more times before I die. I love this tune. I bought it on iTunes and listen to it all the time. Awesome music for an awesome film! 👍
When I think about this movie and how it’s a science fiction romance, The movie Ghost has a lot of similarities. Especially at the end when he has to go
My mom loved this movie. Mostly because she got to see Jeff Bridges' butt in one scene lol. The music for this movie was very powerful at the time I first heard it. I still like watching the movie just to listen to it.
"You are a strange species. Not like any other. And you'd be surprised how many there are. Intelligent but savage. Shall I tell you what I find beautiful about you?" [Shermin nods] "You are at your very best when things are worst."
The reason why everybody likes this song...! Is because of that slightly detectable alien *tint* to it; Therefore, we've all heard that sweet-eerie sound somewhere before... in the distant past, on a distant world, in a distant land... but in a land of distant light ...that makes it seem truly possible- that it is truly heaven like out there(!) -Stephen k. HAWKINGS If you want that? All's I know is that I'm taking the 5th! That's right the 5th dimension. Later😇
They turned it into a tv show that lasted only a year it was very good but they dropped it just like they did V and Alien Nation. But it is on TH-cam , you should check it out.

The Holy Spirit, allow me to see that the "Starman" is the morning star in the morning. Lucifier son of the morning...once again review your childhood Hollywood Satanic 80's,70's, 60's etc movies. It's been there all along ultra programming. Don't believe me, start looking at the movies symbolize. I cried too...and the whole time they feed on that emotional feelings. 1/3 has fallen and control Hollywood
Absolutely love every Scene in this flic., and Jeff should have won Oscar for his Oscar worthy, otherworldly performance...
Most beautiful piece of music to ever be used in a soundtrack, absolutely arouses the emotional responses. You're not human if you don't agree. Also Greatest movie Jeff bridges starred in.
I am 82 and it still got to me.
I’m 71 and saw the film when it was released in 1984. I still cry. And that deer!
This is my favorite movie. The soundtrack is a compilation of some of the most beautiful music ever created.

Sad ending great movie hand full of great actors

The real reason we go to the movies no one else could have played it better than Karen and Jeff
Perfect cast and Jeff and Karen amazing

The people today would ruin it. The filmmakers of today are not good filmmakers. Why remake it?
Why would you want to remake it? I would never be the same. This film is great as it is, it doesn't need to be ruined by new technology or ideas.
Gets me every fu...g time... Every time!!
Anyone who dislikes this has no soul.
ДА!
Oh God yea...!
Probably a rep toid! I believe they have none...
I will definitely add a yes to that! 💜😊

yes amen 2 u !!
they forgot we are smarter starman
Those who write scripts and direct movies today are too worried about not being politically correct enough.
On 2017 Russia released a version of thise film. It was called atracction 1 and attraction 2.
I love those versions.
the best jhon carpenters!!!!!! 👏🙌😢
It's a shame the film score was never nominated
elmercorn: I completely agree with you, thanks for visiting and writing. Regards!
IT WAS NOMINATED FOR A GOLDEN GLOBE, BUT DID NOT WIN, AND IT SHOULD HAVE, GORGEOUS MUSIC.
It should have won for such a stunning theme.

Hear hear my favorite film an score of all time
7:27 There was a poster with a different design on it, that used those same words, and at the bottom it said "Get ready. Company's coming."
Why can’t they make movies like this today?

Greed, stupidity, politics. In no particular order.
The ONLY version of this song is the Original soundtrack FULL VERSION. Tip Top version. full 11+some seconds worth.......gorgeous song.

Best Ever...
My mom loved this movie. Mostly because she got to see Jeff Bridges' butt in one scene lol.
The music for this movie was very powerful at the time I first heard it. I still like watching the movie just to listen to it.
The only other theme I think is comparable to the greatness of this one is; Love's Theme from the movie Midnight Express (1978).
also " the Year of Living Dangerously" (Peter Weir) stars Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hunt(won her an Oscar) Mel Gibson
WE NEED STARMAN 2
Today’s Hollywood will screw it up.
Awesomeeeeeeee
A space ship the size of a little satellite moon , Space says round things are the way to go to move through space.
