Quite the raging debate about the notes and tuning. All the notes are being played correctly, the high end of the chanter is just a bit sharp. This can be fixed by seating the reed higher but a lot of pipers don’t worry too much about tuning practice chanters. He’s also circular breathing and keeping perfect time which is impressive. However breath pressure from the cheeks is harder to control than from the lungs and the high notes (especially high A) are very unforgiving of changes in pressure. The high A goes really sharp when he switches to air in the cheeks to take a breath near the end. The point is to demonstrate proper finger technique and timing. Give the guy a break.
as a musician my guess is he is playing a reed that is stiffer than usual... I am building to a 5 reed on the clarinet, it sounds terrible right now. So your piss ant comments about his reed are crude at best and vulger to say the least. a public servant helping anybody with a YT account. Especially inviting children and other to be better themselfs you should be ashamed. my problem with it is I cant see the right hand in parts good video...
It is the right note, but it's horribly out of tune. If you listen carefully, in some places it hits the pitch briefly and rapidly goes sharp. Blowing hard could also possibly have a factor in dragging the note sharp.
Im a piper from.Scotland...im.45.. Piping since was 10.. He is right... He is spot on.. Even the American pronunciation of a turlough is spot on lol.. . excellent bro... Yeah i won Scottish championship under 19s solo and as playing with Camelon pipe band won plenty of European Scottish and 2ndat worlds.. All grade 3.. Im about to start playing again. Hi, I’m Scottish and I play the chanter. You might want to get a new Reed as your chanter seems off tune. No offence
That high A sounds very booky
High a? No no no ELEVATED A
Can anyone tell me where I can buy a good practice Chandlers on the Web?
