    Congratulations on the very explanatory video. I am very satisfied with my Schlage lock and am already thinking about buying another one for my service entrance.

    Morning! I have an older Schlage push button lock. I like the smart idea. I put Smartbots on my garage doors! (And have Wyze sensors on those doors to tell me they or open or closed!) I had my Schlage locks rekeyed to match. That kit is nice! Also, via Lady A and another Wyze sensor I’m notified the front door is open. “The bloody door is open”, chimes when door closes. . .

      Good stuff Larry. You know how to do it. How’s the keys holding up on the push buttons? Any show wear and tear on the buttons you press?

      @@ModernDayTech Actually, that was a concern of mine, too but no sign of wear.

    In 2022, not so much.... Not sure if this is a new issue but BOTH of mine, connected to HomeKit, cannot see access codes in the Schlage app (from any device). This is a deal killer for most people as you cannot remove any codes. Spoke to Schlage. No fix.

    I’ve had this lock for 3 years the rest of my house is august. The Schlage works great, especially for those who don’t like smart home tech, they can still use the code lol

      I agree, I love having the keypad. I love walking the dog at night with nothing and still being able to get back in easily. I also have the august 4th Gen on another door but never bought the keypad though. Having it separate doesn’t look good to me 🤷🏼‍♂️

      @@ModernDayTech your right it doesn’t lol. I only have the keypad on my back gym but works super good. I have my garage door setup also with my q in HomeKit so don’t really need the key pad. Good video!

    Wow, this is an old product but still relevant today! That shows how well the company is ran! Great job Schlage!

      I agree.Its still a solid product but I do which they have a newer model. Hopefully soon with Apple HomeKey.

    It also took me forever to get into smart locks. A keypad is essential, though. That matte black finish is pretty dope too!

      Absolutely! I love leaving the house with nothing. Its my half hour where nobody can find me and I can't reach anybody. I love it!

    I've had the Schlage Sense for years but I find the tile on the Home app takes forever to update. I usually have to hail Siri and tell her to open my door when I'm a few minutes out from driving to my home.

    • @ModernDayTech
      @ModernDayTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I kind of had that issue at first until I put a HPM closer to the lock. I haven’t had the issue since then. But I find that’s issue with all HomeKit Bluetooth lock.

    Awesome video. Crazy to see this exact model, I’ve had 2 since they came out. (Yup) and they’ve been solid and reliable. Never “not responding” and like you mentioned - it’s the big boy of locks before any of these other smart locks entering the lock game.
    So many automations tie in to this. And yes home app much better for its use. Love it.
    Love to see your auto locking feature.
    Love to see nfc built in so I can tap my watch.
    I use an nfc sticker next to the door jam to allow my phones to lock unlock.

    Does this version, along with the wifi hub, allow simultaneous Homekit and Alexa connections? I like using both ecosystems. I am trying to decide between this one and the Yale Assure.

    Another great vid thank you. Does it work on Apple Watch? Also does Siri work everywhere to open the door or do you need to be close by?
    Thanks again

    I have a question - I have had this lock for about 3-4 years now and has worked great. Using HomeKit most of the time, but have also added an access code for a few friends. Recently I had battery issues and hub issues. So I needed to setup the lock as a new device. However, now I can only set it up has a HomeKit Device or via the Schlage App to have the options of adding access codes. What am I doing wrong... that I can't have HomeKit connection AND use the Schlage app to add extra codes? What am I missing? Help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @ModernDayTech
      @ModernDayTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using both without any issue. Try logging out of the Schlage app and then clicking on HomeKit mode or something like that at the bottom.

      @@ModernDayTech I’ve tried multiple things. Including deleting and red own loading the app. Starting anew. Resetting the lock several times with combinations of adding lock to HomeKit first and also adding lock via Schlage app.

    Great video! Not a fan of the design or the app but it looks to be a very basic HomeKit lock. It’s so loud tho 😵

      Yeah I agree. It is loud but it's quick so it's not too bad.

    Loved the video - definitely a good call to go with a well known respected brand for your smart locks!
    I wonder, since this product is 6 years old at this point, how much longer will Schlage maintain the software with security updates though?

    • @ModernDayTech
      @ModernDayTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! Honestly, I have the same question with every product. Even new products. But I trust a well known brand more to give us advance notice over some no name that will drop it over night and go out of business. Bluetooth has never been the highest security to begin with and probably never will. Hopefully soon, we'll have some thread locks (Fingers cross that thread is safer)

    How would you make software work with a 8 digit code that was saya 12345678 and a 4 digit code 1234, what happens if you type the 4 diget code in it will always open the door and the 8 digit code would be rendered useless... Genius... lol
