For those that might be interested, Laswell also did a terrific duo album way back in '87 with another sax great, the German Peter Brötzmann. It's called "Low Life."
Laswell and Brötzmann had a band together, called Last Exit, with Sonny Sharrock and Ronald Shannon Jackson. Their music was pretty wild. th-cam.com/video/FKYq4H3-iKM/w-d-xo.html
@@marcschmiert9431 I first heard Bill Laswell in 1998, the material Hallucination Engine changed my life, in 2006 we came to Moscow from Chisinau for the Painkiller concert, talked live with Zorn and Laswell
The editing here does such a good job of heightening the conversation these musicians are having with Ruby’s work. Absolutely does justice to all of the incredible artists involved
@MysteryProductsLtd 0 seconds ago Most enjoyable. Thanks. Have been into both Zorn and Laswell for ages and I love Sterling Ruby's art (maybe I will see that live someday).

i really liked how this session started. id love for mr zorn to record/compose something on that much more heartfelt and melodic direction, i can tell hes getting much more mature with his own sounds in recent works. it is really sensitive also seeing that hes at probably the latest stage of his career. such an unhinged genius, never stop questioning!
Tried this at an art league tour for VIPs in Charlotte recently. Room cleared real quick. It plays at Gagosian. Would love to have Perry Farrell, John Frusciante and Nigel Godrich at my Gagosian opening. Get that wallet ready Larry! 🔥 I enjoyed Bill Laswell's work during his Tabla Beat science days.
He's been struggling with mobility issues in his hands/arms, so he's started playing an 8-string with a pick, taking a more ambient and less percussive approach to the bass.

Finally, a new video with Mr. Zorn 😭😭😭 biggest influence/inspiration in my life.
The discovery of "Naked City" is among the most beautiful remembrances of my youth. Hope Fred Frith and co. are doing well
I very glad that the Gagosian Gallery paid attention and singled out such great musicians as Bill Laswell and John Zorn !!

Long live Zorn and Laswell!!!!!
Always made sure to catch any Zorn/Laswell shows in NYC since the early 90s Always amazing & inspiring.
Que suerte ❤
Genuine geniuses.
Just two guys did a film score without even needing a film. That sounded great. Probably would be amazing on acid.
Wow, amazing, I know quite a lot of Zorn's music but this is one of the most beautiful things I have heard him play!
Great works Sterling! The combo with John and Bill is awesome
i first met them in painkiller.......always astonishing

Sometimes you can eat something from the trees in the forest but you can’t eat everyday.

Huge…
Chi è l'artista della mostra?
Where is Gigi
Cardboard.
But whose great paintings are those? A great combination but the artist should be credited prominently as well.
Sterling Ruby - see above creditS
Great music by lejends. The "art" on the wals total fraud. But oh well. Gotta make money to hire real artists to come play.
Do they get equal pay?
I love Bill Laswell, and I am wondering what kind of bass that is? 8 string!
Yes, but I believe that one string of the pairs is thiner than the other
He's been struggling with mobility issues in his hands/arms, so he's started playing an 8-string with a pick, taking a more ambient and less percussive approach to the bass.
