    • @ANWRocketMan
      @ANWRocketMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hakimcameldriver It has received massive upgrades since then. new engines, new tracks, new turrets, new gun, new thermal imaging and fire control systems. Not like any of our neighbours have much to counter them with as far as armoured vehicles go at least.

    • @ANWRocketMan
      @ANWRocketMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@comitatus5337 Since none of our neighbours can really counter these and a low threat of direct war... it's hardly a pressing matter. There was a new indigenous design tank concept in the 90's too but got cancelled since we don't really need much more right now and certainly don't have the money for it. Many of the systems developed for that tank were then integrated into the Mk.2 Olifant tanks.

    For the white South Africans complaining about how weak the army is compared from the apartheid one. Answer me this: What are we going to do with a powerful army? Tell me. We are in a very peaceful region with very strong alliances. For example, The Rooivalk costs $40 million each. We have around 11 of them and in the past 27 years only one has been used in active combat and only for a short period.

The Seleka general offered a ceasefire because some of their units suffered 50% casualties. Much of the knowledge and experience of the SADF has been transferred as far as training goes. Some of the generals and officers from that time still serve today too.
