From the info I could find is that the vehicle's armour conforms to STANAG 4569 Level 4 and can withstand 10 kg of explosives under the vehicle and 50 kg from 5m away. It is also protected against RPG-7 and HMG 14.5mm attacks. The reason they say it's revolutionary is because it is the world's first flat hull blast protected hull.
Remember some of these engineers invented the whole V-hull concept with the Buffel AFVs in the Angolan Bush War, and its an area where a lot of our R&D resources are spent as our Army specializes more in Mechanized infantry combat.
Interesting. You'd think they would combine the two for maximum effect, but I guess they've discovered another geometry that deflects blast energy just as good as a V.
I remember seeing that Mbombe after these guys had been at it with their painted hands 3:12. I couldn't figure out for the life of me, why this thing was covered in colourful hand prints on its front and sides, apart from the idea that it was to signify the bloodied hands of protestors! Maybe not the best way to market it then...?
Although I think bush war does better prepare you for city fighting what with the close quarters fighting and constant threat of walking into an ambush.
Mbombe Mmmmm 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🎱 just imagine African countries really come together and United Kingdom of Africa . Economical, Political etc.keep dreaming .....🤭😱🤒😡😠😵🤪😳🤓🤫
Terry Pinion you do know that south Africa was using the vshape hull long before any other country .the west especially USA stole our technology . its all they good at doing . so now we made some new technology . I bet USA is already busy stealing it lol .
Why not use your combined talents to make affordable farming equipment and water powered engines to simplify and improve humanity lives rather than making war instruments exclussively?
We do, but our farmers gets murdered by thugs with the support of our government. BTW, very little water here in South Africa. A lot of farms has already been confiscated and handed to friends of the corrupt politicians. 99% of these farms has stopped producing anything. We are trying very hard to be a second Zimbabwe.
bad for flat bottom it means ied's bellow can flat out do mor damage so if the bottom was v shaped the energy of the blast would blow outwords rather than direct inpact of the vehicle therfor saving lives and MONEY
What. The whole point of the V shape is to deflect explosive force from the bottom. If you take that away you are sitting ducks for IEDs, which is causing the most coalition casualties.

The Russians got a better concept. V shaped hull, 8 x 8 wheel driven, back to back seat configuration to provide better action ability when the inside soldiers have to shoot from the rifle holes under the windows, air conditioning and fighting with a rapid firing cannon of 57 mm calibre and 12,7 mm high velocity guns and 2+2 ATGM launchers against M.B.T.'s Sounds more like an effective fighting vehicle.
South Africa thanks for making Africa proud 🇰🇪🇿🇦🇰🇪🇿🇦
They should make one for transporting money it will help nd save lives too don't u think
Africa proud? You realize that the engineers of South Africa are Europeans?
South African Rooikat is among my favorite of military vehicles.... That and unibuffel
ratel is pretty cool too

They moved away from V-Hull to a low profile flat hull? Fuckin genius.
the chap involved in the interview and who directed the project is a mechanical engineer, he is South African,we were in the army together.

Real progress there...keep it up

Well done South Africa 🇿🇦, Well done rainbow nation, we are capable
The v-shape was used because it works, let's see how well this works.
Yeah and for also those bombs called Landmines or smthing 🤔
No money for the poor plenty of money for war.

Yep, we can call it Wakanda...
I love how they bring "style" to weapons of murder.
without the v shaped bottom EFP will cut through the flat bottom like hot knife through butter
They developed a new way of protecting it from mines, they didn't say how though

Who gives a fuck about farm murders.....I don't....and every farmer killed ...deserves it
@Bogore Sound about right. Does this then mean that Europe is for Europeans, and Africans must get out? And must the Chinese also get out?
@@nelsonsibiya9204 you must be connected to one of the politicians, psychopaths.
Local warlords liked this.

I wonder what nationality the engineers have...
South African.
Not low IQ who dont know how a wheel works.
European.. Are you happy with that
They are South African, during the arms embargo we were thrown into the deep end and came out victorious!
The V hull concept was first used by Sweden in 1942 by the way.
No it wasn't, it was first used in Southern Africa
South Africa inherited a professional military, but well no more to say about bygons, it is what it is today lol.
