I am about to DM for a first time, one of the players chose to play monk. I can't wait to see all of the cool shit that monks can do in my own adventure. They look awesome and I am super excited :))
She would have actually survived that fall as a fish because of her size because scientifically, it would reduce A LOT of fall damage with weight distribution and air resistance. If you toss a mouse from the empire state building into a pile of matresses, it survives unscathed, if it was an elephant, it freaking explodes.
@@keithredacted8154 except she wild shaped right as she was about to hit the "water" meaning she was still falling at the terminal velocity of a creature much larger than her goldfish form when she hit the rocks. If you throw a mouse off a building, with an elephant strapped to it, I imagine youd see very different results in that scenario, not too differently than if you were to shoot a tomato out of a cannon

Which is why that cat was fine from that height. They are able to pick a spot on the ground as they descend, lock in on it, and then pull their limbs in to rotate faster and spread them out to go slower in order to get into position to land. You can even see the cat doing this in the clip at the end!

The change of being a character that just hits stuff, simple and straightforward, could be appealing after a campaign of having to choose/prepare spells and figure out which would be the best to use in a particular situation. Being a monk of an order whose purpose is to document and sus out information also fits well with Marisha's meticulous note-taking habits and love of problem solving

More than 70ft. Slow fall negates an amount of damage instead of feet. So to even possibly endanger Beau with a fall it would have to be max damage on a fall of over 120 ft (1d6 per 10ft). Or average damage on a fall of over 240 ft which is above the damage cap if you’re following RAW. So high levels monks are practically immune to fall damage. TLDR: dope monk shit

@@vedymin1 unfortunately, to every such story there is the other side of the coin. I heard of broken ribs and worse. If your cat is getting old, don't take chances. Heck, no owner wants to take chances with their critters.
@@vedymin1 It's about having the height needed to slow their velocity and prep for the landing. But no cat walks away from those huge falls unharmed, even young they take some serious impact force and typically break bones and have serious bruising.

They never got to it, but they were at Level 14, so Beau could fall 70 feet without consequence. I’m sure Matt was planning a lot of 71+ foot falls.
