  • Citroen DS5 1.6 THP 155, EP6. I believe it's the same as the Citroen DS4, Peugeot 3008 and 5008. Not sure if same for Peugeot or Citroen Diesel. Follow the procedure below prior to disconnecting the battery:
    * Open bonnet and driver's side window (the window is left open for access reasons).
*Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition and put it more than 15m from the vehicle (do not leave the key in the ignition or near the vehicle as the transponder circuit will detect the key and this can prevent the networks from sleeping).
*Wait for 5 minutes, - Don't press any buttons, open any doors or use the remote key fob during this time.
*Follow the steps in the video and disconnect/remove the battery.
*Wait at least 5 minutes before reconnecting battery.
When reconnecting the battery follow these steps:
*Ensure all doors and tailgate are shut, and the key is more than 15m away from the vehicle.
    * Reconnect the battery by reversing the steps in the video.
*Wait a further 3 minutes (do not open doors).
*Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
*Again through the window put the key Fob in the car or in the Fob Reader, press the Start Stop button without pressing any pedals. That will switch the ignition on only.
*Press the Start Stop button again, without touching any pedals to switch the ignition off.
*Remove the Key fob from the reader through the window, then lock the car using the sensor on the door handle or the button on the fob.
*Unlock the car either using the sensor on the door handle or the fob.
*Now open the door, start the engine and check there are no errors etc.
    *Switch off your side lights.
Done! You've just saved yourself a fortune in labour costs!

Absolute star - brilliant video, my DS DS5 has a different airbox but otherwise the same, I was able to follow the guidance and replace the battery and using the written steps was able to avoid all the warning messages and alerts normally associated with touching anything in the engine compartment. In terms of time - it took me nearly four hours but that included a break and replacing the headlight bulbs while the ECU was'nt watching - probably net a couple of hours to do the change, bearing in mind I'm a complete novice and have never touched a DS5 before.

I'm facing a similar issue with my ds5. Bunch of warning messages on the panel. Did you Aldo have the "engine fault" one? After replacing the battery, did you have to clear the codes using some diagnostic tool to make them go away?

Thank you. Followed your instructions and it worked to a tee. I did put my fobs in the microwave though (Faraday cage). If it feels like the battery box won't come out just give it a good yank towards yourself. 2016 blue hdi

I used to think that the (manual listed) 3 hour job to change a headlamp bulb on a 2007 Renault Megane was the most ridiculous service issue I'd come across. Ladies and Gentlemen we have a new winner! Great video though.

I disconnected and reconnected my battery on a DS4 (1.9 HDI) and lots of warning lights came on, but after I drove the car, switched off the ignition and then started the engine again sometime later, all the warning lights had disappeared. I now have to changed the battery and I'm not looking forward to it. My father-in-law who recently put an entire new engine in for me says I need to take the wipers and sill off to get the battery out. I have no idea if this is a better way though?

I haven't done a DS4 myself but I believe it's the same as the DS5 (not 100% sure on difference between petrol and diesel though). If it is then it's much easier to do it like this video rather than remove the sill and wipers.

Well hero since you're at it can you please show us how to change the gearbox oil? It seems that you empty the reservoir by the bottom but you fill it it by the top and that top is "conveniently" placed under the battery support ...
    Thanks in advance, good tut

Haha I will keep that in mind. I may well do it at some point but have a few other project cars to sort out first. Glad you found this video helpful 👍🏻

Did you leave it for hour an hour to allow the on board computers to reset, I believe they can throw up quite a few faults after a battery change. Need to do mine, great video, I'll need both hands😁

    • @HeroRepairs

Cheers. Nice to know it's helped someone. I believe 5 minutes is adequate if following the correct procedure which I have now added to the video description.

Do you know by any chance where is the backup battery stored on a Peugeot 3008 hybrid 2? It keeps telling me the same error, backup battery flat, and a few mechanics have failed to help me now

    • @HeroRepairs

The auxiliary 12V battery is in the boot section under the floor panel.

Same model car. Why do I report a power failure after I replace the battery?

    • @HeroRepairs
      @HeroRepairs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Not sure. You may need to check with a code reader to see what's going on and possibly clear the code.

I thought you're ment to disconnect the negative before positive?

    • @HeroRepairs
      @HeroRepairs  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes that is correct, but good luck telling that to Citroën's engineers.

Typical 😂. When I've disconnected the positive terminal, the alarm went off??
