    Bautista brought a whole country together with one swing of the bat. And Kawhi gave every Raptors fan the scare of a goddamn lifetime when he bounced that shot.

      You mean Toronto and the Raptors Fanbase? Just because it's the only team, doesn't mean all 36 Milllion People were watching them.

    winning gold in mens and womens hockey in 2010 and 2014 was probably one of the biggest highlights in canadian olympic history

    • @MrSprigg
      @MrSprigg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      2002 was bigger, because it had been 50 years, and the Canadian women weren't expected to beat the USA team. They did, despite some truly bad officiating, and then the men took the gold two days later in a dominant 5-2 performance over the Americans. 2010 doesn't come close to 2002 in terms of emotional power.

    • @funnyperson4027

      @@MrSprigg damn didn't even know thanks for the info. sad I was too young to remember

    • @lovejotted
      @lovejotted ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrSprigg 2010 was better. We lost to USA in the round robin. We blew the lead with 24 seconds left, went into overtime and one of the greatest players ever finally stepped up after a lacklustre tournament to give us the gold medal. Things like that only occur in movies.

    • @MrSprigg
      @MrSprigg ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lovejotted 2010 is at best third all-time on the Canadian hockey scene. 1972 tops everything. EVERYTHING. No debate is possible on that, because without 1972 there is no 2010 or any other great international hockey moments of the past 50 years. No Miracle on Ice, no Canada Cup, no pros in the Olympics again. Anyone who doesn't put 1972 at the top of the list is wrong, end of discussion.
      2002 tops 2010 for the reasons I gave earlier; fifty years after winning Olympic gold in 1952, the impossible odds the women were given, and the sheer magnitude of that gold medal game. 2010 was 'Yay, we won again!'. 2002 was 'WE FINALLY WON!!!!!!!' If you weren't there, then you can't understand.
      1987 is the other contender for third place, watching Gretzky and Lemieux do what they did in that final series against the Soviets. That was probably the best three-game span of hockey I have ever seen in my life. I would put it ahead of 2010, but I will listen to arguments to the contrary. But 2002 and 1972 are untouchable.

    • @lovejotted
      @lovejotted ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrSprigg Not reading all that but my opinion would remain the same anyways. I am sure the other ones were amazing but for people below 25 it's 2010 all the way.

Catriona Le May Doan with back-to-back Olympic golds at Nagano and Salt Lake. Sisters Justine Dufour-Lapointe and Chloe Dufour-Lapointe winning gold and silver in Sochi. Hayley Wickenheiser winning 4 consecutive Olympic golds in Hockey.

    I guess it depends on what your frame of reference is. Anyone who was alive at the time will tell you without a doubt the greatest moment was Canada-Russia '72. Several of our greatest moments are missing here... The first time the Jays won the World Series, the 4x100 relay in Atlanta, the 1976 & 1984 Canada Cups, the 2002 and 2014 Olympics, 2016 World Cup of Hockey, all the times Canadian based teams won the Stanley Cup, all of Gretzky's records (even the ones he set in LA, being Canadian), Orr's OT winner in 1970, Lemieux's come-back from cancer and his 5 goal cycle, Richard's 50 in 50. Several World jr hockey championships (2009 & 2020 kinda stand out), probably forgetting many others.
