You did so much better work than Gallant, unfortunately Panthers had more gritt and this team don't have it yet. Things may change next season, they may not, but thanks for the great season!

It’s not the coaches. It’s the so called “star” players who never rise to the occasion. Mika, Kreider, Panarin are the current teams Rick Nash. Score goals all year and disappear in the playoffs. Only this year our D was horrible

Great fans, not! Presidents trophy, last 4 standing is a really good season. Room to grow but if you are an all or nothing fan there is no joy so why bother .SMH
Peter did good job. I think he's found out a lot about his team that he didn't before the playoffs.
That Penarin and Mika are too soft? The question is what has he learned? Did he learn the right things? Let’s hope he understands the need for size and hitting in the playoffs.
@tom I'm sure he did but this was not the place to speak his mind about it. Trust me, he has way better conversations behind the scene with Chris Drury. If only we could be able to do some eavesdropping. ;) I think we would be vindicated a bit.

Thanks for all the hard work this year, Peter! Thanks for the memories and the time and dedication it took to go far. Probably my second favorite Rangers season of all time.
Peter did hell of job, speak to Drury and especially core players open their mind on weaknesses that happened and make them understand Florida is standard need get those 2nd players or depth to win
Panthers are the new prototype: power forwards defense and center with needed goaltending. Close but don’t have the size nor tenacity. Still proud of our NYRs…
I disagree to say don’t have the tenacity or will .. took panthers over 20yrs to get to at least go to 2 cups in row… hopefully guys win so kick your butts and we are not too far off… all your grits and energy took lot to defeat us. So we will be back better stronger and couple bounces might have been different but we are right there … as I said holding Florida to win since like to talk trash … we have given you respect ✊ so win it now ….

Very happy with coach Laviolette. He can only do so much with what he had. Just imagine if this was Gallant? Those "good looks" would of meant a 4-0 sweep
Not sure about that. The team would have fought harder under Gallant. Gallant actually shows emotions. And gallant also got us to an ECF. Not saying I don't like Peter, I think he did a good job.

25 and Laviolette is the best Rangers coach of my life. Mitigated this teams known 5v5 issue as best he could. A healthy chytil a RW signing and some depth defensive moves alongside a big trade deadline move and this team can be a threat again. Got two years before a reboot when Panarins and Troubas contract ends. Let’s see
Agree... you really couldn't ask for more from the coach. He was pushing buttons to try and get the most out of his guys. No complaints from me.
Lavi is a great coach. Trust him behind the bench completely. I hope this core can rise to the occasion and put it together one of these years.

Actually, where weee his adjustments through the series? The players could have played with more effort, but the players are also creatures habit. They will do what feels best for them regardless of whether it works or not. It's the coaches job to see what is happening on the ice, make the adjustments and get the players to buy into it.

Excuse me sir, Florida literally put on a clinic on how a team needs to play late in the playoffs and into the Finals. I am not the biggest fan of Lavy, I understand he had a nice year, but so did Gallant. The fact he's implying that the Rangers can force their "style" of play and win a cup tells me we are going in a circle with this franchise. How in the world have we not learned in the last decade, since 2014 that finesse and style points don't mean a thing in the playoffs where grit, desire, banging and wanting it more mean far more than a stat pat. SMH.
I agree with this. You can’t defend your way to a finals win. You can turn and look at Carolina who play the exact same way as Florida and the rangers found a way to win 4… but you absolutely felt with this rangers team throughout the playoffs that if we ever went down 1-0 2-0 3-0 it’s over. They don’t have enough zone time and pressure to really give the feeling they’re going to come back.
The Kreider hat trick happened during the only 5 minutes of playoff hockey they played the entire playoffs.
There’s 100% a style issue.

You did a great job. Certain players shutdown when it mattered most.
Fact remains that the Rangers showed no passion in the 3rd round. there was no grit. No anger. No playoff atmosphere. No physical play. Panarin refused to go into the corners. Mika disappeared as did Kreider. they played like it was a regular season game in November and not a playoff game in June. Florida simply wanted it more than the Rangers did. And that's the series in a nutshell.
Florida is just a better team .
Or maybe (Not an excuse but definitely reality) they were just completely exhausted with nothing left in the tank… LFGR

The same players shut down every year in the playoffs.

A lot of softball questions. No ask about why didn't Jones get a game over Gus or Trouba? Why didn't Laf move to PP 1? Any consideration to moving either Kreider or Zib to another line? Why did Rempe play if he only go to get 4 mins? Any consideration of playing 7 D-Men?

We need desperately need Trocheck as captain. He's also the true 1C. Honestly I wish Mika would agree to be traded. He's been declining for the last 3 seasons and idk how more people don't see it. He's insanely overrated. Doesn't shoot, doesn't play physical, turns over and gives away pucks like no one I've ever seen. I really don't think this team will win a cup with him as our 1C. He just doesn't care anymore. Its unacceptable

Coach overall did a great job. In the end the players on the ice need to get it done, and they didn't. Wasn't even close. Our snipers dissapeared under pressure. Igor kept us in every game, our forwards were just outplayed . Giveaway after giveaway after giveaway after giveway...How they are not embarrased? Florida is a great team. Now that its over i'll admit it. But missing open nets, not taking advantage of our chances, in the end is what did us in
To be honest I could feel it coming after Carolina took two games and almost had taken the third one in the row. I could see NY struggling offensively...
@shot To be honest, me too. But after the Kreider hat trick in game 6 and the magic in OT that continued in games 2 and 3 against Florida I thought it was their year...only to be disappointed yet again.
I'm used to it being a Rangers fan since 1974 but it's getting old as I am myself.

For me the realization that weren't going to win was after they blew game 4 against the Panthers and I saw the look of panic and confusion on Lav's face/

@@thethomasj1795 I saw that look as well. The 3rd period of that game 4 told the whole story. It was a total assault by Florida in the Rangers D zone. In fact, it was embarrassing. Hence, the "look" on his face.
Something you may have missed is the reaction of Paul Maurice wearing a mic. They showed the clip on TV the next game.
At some point- I don't remember but I think it was after the OT goal by Reinhart- Maurice shouted "this is when things turn". I paraphrase but he used the term "turning".
You did more with this team than galant did ' but you need to get nastier ' bigger guys in order to go deep in the playoffs ' can't win with guys like trouba ' Mika and Miller folding like a cheap tent ' until you get those type of players with grit and size you won't win a chip ' should of learned when you got beat down by tampa 3 years ago ' Drury has some tough decisions to make

Before 1994 Keenan knew he couldn't win a cup with the current team. Although they had good young talent Weight and Amonte, they traded them for tough players who can bang in a long series like Tikkanen, Matteau, Larmer, Noonan, Anderson, MacTavish. 2024 Ranger roster is way too soft as Panthers proved.
No Jacob trouba exit interview? Would really like to know his mindset when he went for that hit on Rodrigues in game 6. No way drury can have him back on the blue line to start next season

Not for nothing but miller and Schneider had better chemistry when trouba was out and the team out scored opponents 26-10 in the 6 weeks he was out

So let me get this straight. Trouba, Fox and Lingrin were playing hurt in the playoffs. There were 2 healthy defensemen available to play and Lavi did nothing. Not even dress a 7th dman to help out. This is a great coach?

Everybody is hurt this time of year, I agree, BUT after seeing the way Zac Jones played during Trouba absence, I would have loved to see his play in the playoffs a bit. I thought he played super well when we had the chance.
While I think coach Peter had excellent season, he did not adjust after seeing how Florida attacked our bottom 6 knowing that top6 while more talented lack emotion drive and are not capable of turning the tide. We need more size and no more quitters. With the season on the line coach Peter failed, to remove injured players and call a challenge. Do you think panthers coach would have did same NO!panthers played dirty and physical and you coach left Igor to defend himself. Hope he will not pack it up and head 4 a team who may lose but at least break their F face
I believed in this team more than I believed in the Rangers any time since 2014. Matchups count and this was a bad matchup. This is something to build on, but Florida isn’t going to go away so the project of figuring them out starts now.

Was Mika really injured and Panerin as well? I realize the panthers are dirty players but the Rangers could have unleashed Rempe or Trouba to counter that. The refs seem to turn a blind eye on a lot of the panther cheap shots as well.

it’s going to be so hard to go through a whole regular season which we know is not real hockey.. more than any sport, the post season intensity picks up and you need to have battle tested players.. Ryan Lindgren was a beast this playoff and he should not be included in the defense sucking against the Panthers . i can’t get excited until the playoffs and we all know in hockey things can change season to season very quickly. it hurts to get this far and lose
It's disgraceful how poorly and unmotivated the Rangers played the last 3 games of the Panthers series. They were up 2-1 at that point and couldn't even win one more game. That is disgraceful. This Rangers team has no heart or leadership.

Like Lavi, but don’t think this team could do any better than what we saw. One or two major changes are needed to get over this hurdle. Think Drury deserves another crack at it.

The rangers had 0 regulation wins against Florida in 9 Tries,
Regular Season, and postseason combined
Bottom line Florida a better team period. They will win the cup!
The Bread Man became extremely frustrated and it impacted his defense enormously (both forechecking and back checking). Also, he was fanning on shots .. missing the net .. and his body language and facial expressions were that of a beaten man .. too many mistakes on the ice .. the Cats should be renamed the BEASTS ... They beat you up and wear you out for 40 minutes .. that's why they OWN the 3rd period ..
Hearing all kinds of BS about being "outcoached". Florida played at a level that the Rangers seemed to be incapable of. Now that we have already crowned the Panthers style of play as the model to mold a team around, Drury knows what the Rangers need.

The New York ranger one mistake was making changes. If these players and I have for got their name were on injury let them stay their don’t. Make changes when there was nothing broken. Kakko is a free agent on July 1st and has been benched by two different coaches during the playoffs. Drury would not part with Lafreniere when everyone was losing patience with him and look how he has flourished now. Maybe the same thing will happen with Kakko. I hope they give him another chance . This team has a long history of letting young players go to other teams and then they have better careers than than they did when they were a Ranger. Going all the way back to the 70s with Rick Middleton to now with Buchnevich and JT miller

The problem is that your core players, although they perform admirably during 82 games( which, to me, are preseason games) they are not built to compete for the right to claim the Holy Grail bka Lord Stanley. Lack of 5 on 5 play has been and still is the Achilles heel 2 times in 3 seasons reaching the ECF. No physicality whatsoever from your core players, i.e., Kreider , Parnarin, Zibangad. Defensemen, although young, still were shakey. You would think that they would learn from their experience having played in the playoffs before. Disappointing.

So we'll take the optimism and another "wait t'ill next year" hopeful speech but frankly 3 years of playoffs runs with basically the same core of players should be enough for Chris Drury and the coaching staff to identify what's missing.
If we saw weakness in the corners and players hearing footsteps times and times over leading to a ton of turnovers a head coach with decades of experience in the league saw it too.
They had a spectacular season, as they did in 2014, 2015, 2022, 2023 but it's obviously never enough in New-York.
There is always another team capable of getting the job done.

If I'm being honest Drury should have hired Knoblouch. With ZERO head coaching experience before joining the Oilers he won 2 more games and now his team is in the SCF.
But how were you gonna know that knoblack was gonna take that team to the cup. It was a coin flip. Lavi shows experience & a motivational mentality towards the team & in the locker room as well.
Don’t just attack the regular season. Build a slightly different kind of team. You can’t just run it back with the same guys. I don’t like his responses. Are you crazy? You were dominated!
Clearly need different players, unrestricted players must go and get someone good for Kakko. Everyone must lift weights in the off-season, can’t even clear a puck….ridiculous.

@kyle You need to add Trocheck and Lafrenière to the list of blameless players. I saw grit in Gustaffson and Lindgren as well. And Schneider also even if he seems a little bit too shy for my liking.
Hey coach, you needed to adjust. You didn't defeat Florida all year in regulation, you needed to break up the bromance, bench Trouba, talk to K-Poke, tell Mika he's no Ovechkin and put Laffy on PP #1. You needed to use Zac Jones for his offense! You needed to play Rempe 20 mins. You let Florida push you around, you needed to address the fact that you didn't do well 5 on 5 and that coming from behind time after time is not a recipe for success. You say you just needed one more goal but you had exactly 6 high danger shots in game 6. Whatever, go NY Rangers.
We could of kept galant for this.
