Do you have an oil filer cutter to inspect for metal contaminants? I would change oil and filter every 2000 miles until the metal contaminants are no longer found in the filter.
How were you so confident you had no bent valves or hadn’t damaged any pistons or rods? I’ve had mine go today and asked two mechanics, they both said first job is head off to inspect. Just curious that’s all. Kind regards
Because the are cheap gits . Don't think about the van being serviced just spend thousands on a new van when the old one breaks down because they think a yearly MOT is all that's required.
Better still why don’t manufacturers use timing gears or chains instead of this Heath Robinson bollocks,it’s building in trouble for the owners but manufacturers couldn’t give a stuff when their NOT paying the bill,it creates a great way of selling new engines at an inflated price. I’ve worked on diesels for over 50 years and NEVER had to change timing gears in any engine I’ve ever worked on,chain’s yes because they stretch but gears never so it’s no wonder they use these Crap Belts it’s a profitable scam and a cheap way of doing things but not for the owners who have to foot the bill. Someone commented that changing the oil more frequently will make the engine last longer which is correct but it won’t stop the problem of these belts failing, small engines like PERKINS,Early Peugeot and Mercs run for ever when they used timing gears and duplex chains, BMC used chains in their small diesels very successfully and were great little diesels.
@@davidellis279 the belt change intervals are normally years or thousands of miles. It's not a regular service part like oils and filters. Gear driven engines would cost a lot more to make and add little to resale values. Just maintain your vehicle. Take responsibility for your possessions.
@@dennisphoenix1 It’s just a cheap way of the making an engine, they know they’ll last until the warranty period is over, after that they couldn’t give a toss that’s the truth of the matter,I don’t run any Diesel engine that’s belt driven and if everyone did the same they’d soon change change their ways when people didn’t buy them I’m sure. Quality comes way down the list of priorities with manufacturers, profit is their main concern that’s why Volkswagen cheated on their emission control system like a few others did and their now paying for their deception. It does make me wonder how many of these belts have snapped on motorways causing pile ups where people were killed and the investigators never realised what had caused those accidents putting it down to driver error when the real cause could have been the belt failure causing the engine to stop immediately and bring the vehicle to a halt causing mayhem to all around it,they snap without any warning giving the driver NO chance of stopping the vehicle safely. These belts should be banned because people don’t change them at the required intervals because of cost and believe the manufacturers would Never fit such dangerous parts to their vehicles that could cause such catastrophic problems.
well done .... one criticism......i had some trouble trying to hear what you were saying in some places because of that background music that droned on and on all thru the video......please maybe don't use background music.....the best mechanical videos never use background music......the kind of people who really look for good videos like yours don't come for the music

Great video 👍
Do you have an oil filer cutter to inspect for metal contaminants? I would change oil and filter every 2000 miles until the metal contaminants are no longer found in the filter.
It’s a paper element in these not a steel screw on one
How were you so confident you had no bent valves or hadn’t damaged any pistons or rods?
I’ve had mine go today and asked two mechanics, they both said first job is head off to inspect.
Just curious that’s all.
Kind regards
Nice video Buddy 👍🏻 Why don’t people get the timing belt changed at the correct intervals 🙄 Then all this damage would be saved 🤔
Because the are cheap gits . Don't think about the van being serviced just spend thousands on a new van when the old one breaks down because they think a yearly MOT is all that's required.
Judging by the state of the camshaft, the oil hadn't been changed either for a long time
Better still why don’t manufacturers use timing gears or chains instead of this Heath Robinson bollocks,it’s building in trouble for the owners but manufacturers couldn’t give a stuff when their NOT paying the bill,it creates a great way of selling new engines at an inflated price.
Bro u no your stuff fantastic job where u located to bro
Thanks Anthony, Chepstow South Wales I am
@@themobilemechanic1992 not far mate I'm in South Wales llantrisant
well done .... one criticism......i had some trouble trying to hear what you were saying in some places because of that background music that droned on and on all thru the video......please maybe don't use background music.....the best mechanical videos never use background music......the kind of people who really look for good videos like yours don't come for the music
Haha thanks Claymore, I’ve learnt my lesson my latest video doesn’t have music 😂
Good job!! Where you based buddy?
Chepstow, South Wales Mark
