Hmm, an interesting project to make out of recycled plastic would be a chess+checker set. All you'd need are cookie cutters. They sell chess cookie cutters and cutting recycled plastic sheets with them would make them two dimensional. Making a small peg or a tab at the bottom would allow you to insert them standing up on circular pieces of plastic (Probably also cut from cookie cutters) that have a slot in the middle. They'll look like those acrylic standees and I bet they'll look marvelous with the marbling. If you want to play checkers, just remove the chess standees from the disks and use the circular disks as checker pieces. If you want to make the board itself, it might be trickier but I'd imagine it's possible to just cut two different colors of plastic sheet into squares and just arrange them into the checker board pattern. Just a thought but I think those would look amazing with recycled plastic marbling.
You guys should make a skateboard and a set of wheels for it . Also, those offcuts look a lot like knife scales used in knifemaking. Custom scratcplate for a guitar would be cool too
A skateboard has been on our list for a long time! Making the wheels would be cool! We actually have a video of making knife scales. They turned out so nice!
@@BrothersMake Skateboard decks would be cool, especially with the blending color design, and HDPE should be sturdy enough for real life use. The 22" penny board could be a good inspiration. Love what you're doing. best of luck!

Please believe that the following comments are meant constructively. I love your videos; they have opened a whole new world to me! My main problem is that this still assumes the recycler has a woodshop or garage. I don't. I also do not have high ceilings. (They are very environmentally unfriendly in the Northeastern US.) And making a wooden mold? It's simply not on. Would it be possible to make a video assuming that the recycler has only a kitchen or craft room? I absolutely love it, what a stunning handle!! I was amazed that worked, I thought the air fryer would burn the plastic that had been in the longest. The multicolour effect was absolutely stunning!! Great work😁👍
This is a very convenient video to come out mere days after the anti-stick on our (non-holey) air fryer has started to fail... That being said, as someone who gets joint pain in her hands, but also occasionally has to "help" a small child get at their lemonade, the chunky, slightly faceted design bottle opener would be much easier to use than the thinner, rounder one. Some surface area under the palm of your (six-year-old's) hand is extremely helpful, especially if the other hand is holding a bottle that's slightly damp with condensation.
Still prefer my old panini press for making flat plastic sheets for craft projects. You lads are the business, thanks for setting me out on the journey .
Super helpful to hear that woodworking tools work great. Love seeing you break out the spoke shave! The ease of melting an offcut to fill an air bubble is great stuff too! :D
Another excellent video and neat project. Thanks! I'm going to use these techniques to make some rasp/file and screwdriver handles. Also going to copy your mallet. Love it.
Love the bottle opener. I collect them. I would definitely buy one from your shop. Might try to make one as well, but use my lathe to trim it down. Will be awhile before I can do it though. Using an air fryer might be a great way to go as well.

You all are so inspiring love the videos! I’ve been making a big push to be able to do recycled plastics at the library I work at. Our maker space always has scraps and there is so many fun things we could do. I’d love to see a video on more shredding options not just melting.

I know that the metal component is required for a bottle opener, but you could do a little better. I've seen 3D printed openers that use a captive coin (or washer) and I bet with the right mold you could do something similar... Maybe even take it a step further and use a bottle cap for the metal component in the opener. After all, the only part of the bottle opener that really *needs* to be metal is the part that interfaces directly with the bottle. 😉
Honeslty I don't know how much work or plastic you would need for this; but I've always kicked around the idea of turning used plastic into crates/boxes to store stuff around the house, or simply make it a laundry basket/hamper. Wonder how that would turn out.
You are doing some amazing stuff, I a, excited to give this a go. The question I do have is about how you source all your plastics? I know I don't consume enough of anything to have the resources to make some of these things. Keep up this amazing work! Also, can you just melt it in a pot on the stove?

That’s a brilliant idea! Different colors could be used to match any décor. Solid recycled plastic would be much sturdier than the particle board options that are out there.
