This seems like a great opportunity to make an FPS that's very accessible to people who haven't played many videogames and might lack the proper reflexes or simply need more time to take in the surroundings, aim, and would generally benefit from a slower pace. I wonder how well it does on that front. We need more videogames that can be approached by people with little experience in them.
I love this game. Yes it's janky at times and it doesn't look like a AAA game. But it nailed Robocop. Between the characters, recreations, boss battles and late stage secondary gun. I've loved Robocop since I was a kid and am really happy with this game. I only wish there was a new game plus to really play around more with the skill tree. Cause once you have things upgraded you really feel like Robo
Looking past the faults, you still can enjoy the game for what it is, as RoboCop fan or non fan. Sometimes gamers focus too much on the negatives, without enjoying the many positives a game can offer. Thanks for the honesty Jake, as a RoboCop fan and gamer.
Focusing on the negative is the new social media meta, just look at Starfield. It was a good game for about 2 weeks, now it's the worst game Bethesda, or any studio for that matter, has ever made in the history of gaming.
Or Frozen crossover with Terminator. Imagine you are a cybernetic Olaf! Elza, come with me if you want to live! And the final goodbye as he's melting himself to save the future...
I've never played a RoboCop game but I've always bloody enjoyed the films so picking this up is a no brainer. I will wait until it goes down in price as I have a big backlog at the moment.
For real though, everyone should get out and support devs like this, AA developers used to be such a solid part of the gaming landscape and they're dying off as studios get bought up and budgets get higher and higher
As a kid I was a HUGE Robocop fan and it always bothered me that there were no games that actually felt like Robo. Now I know it was just a matter of waiting for technology to be in the right place for it to happen. Also it was clearly an IP the creators understood properly. I put rogue city on the same level as xmen origins wolverine, where for the first time you actually get to play Logan the way he should be played. So far I am absolutely LOVING rogue city
I wonder what you'll think of the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine game then.. From my understanding it is going to be like an open world X Men Origins: Wolverine game..
I love the demo which is already a very nice thing that brings me back when game devs had nothing to hide. I cannot skip this game because I love this character and the two first movies are really something special to me.
Honestly, the "light" RPG elements of this totally work for me. A lot of modern RPG's are so deep, and so complex that frankly, they are exhausting... there was a great balance in this for a game you want to load up for a couple hours and just have a good time.
This brings me back to the 360 days when random games would come out that were a little different, not as long, but simple and a good time. I remember buying naughty bear because the game description on the back and the cover caught my attention as a 9 year old. Loved it.
Its been a good few months that made me feel like a kid again. AC Mirage, Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, and now RoboCop! I miss having these smaller super fun games that aren’t 70+ hour longs. Thank you for the review, you guys are the best!
For better and worse, the game is like FPS games from 2000 - 2007. Reminds me a bit of The Darkness, Soldier of Fortune, and slightly of Deus Ex. Technically as well, from its visuals and sound design, it's like they made the game in the 2000s, and then slapped a new coat of modern paint on it like Halo CE Anniversary. I say it looks and feels old, and it mostly does, but because of it and despite it, I like it a lot so far. The story is decent with enjoyable enough side missions; the atmosphere is great and the recreation of the dingy setting from the films is done well. It has some humorous moments and adequate heartfelt parts. The shooting, punching, grabbing, and throwing all feel impactful. I haven't run into many glaring issues during gameplay, but in cutscenes when going from one shot to the next, there are often big blocky pixels for a second, some frame rate slowdown, and texture pop-in. While I don't think it's the same quality as my favorite games based on films, like Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, Alien Isolation, and The Warriors, it's still very good from what I've experienced.
Picked this up on launch day. Played a few hours so far. The best description I have for it is very old school FPS with modern graphics. It's like they made this for me! I'm planning on buying my boys copies just to give them more sales. Great game, simple, fun and nastalgic. Cheers!
For the most part. There's still a ton of braindead modern gamers shitting all over the game calling it "mid" because it's not Call of Duty, even though they hate on CoD all day everyday too.
@@Gatorade69the AI is shit and there's like 6 different enemy skins and the game play is extremely repetitive, it's shit and only doing well because of nostalgia.
It's a dream come true for fans! The only things i miss, are the lack of the real sound of the Auto-9 gun and the beep green target when focus (the person). Devs made this game with heart for the fans! So far, the best Robocop title in game. What a good nostalgia!
This is on my list. I've been playing RoboCop games since the C-64, and everything I've been hearing says the fun factor and the fidelity to the material significantly forgives the roughness that comes from a smaller studio with limited resources. Looking forward to it.
Their Terminator game was awesome af, i remember playing it parallel with Resident Evil 7, and being more intimidated by their game compared to RE7 which some people say is the scariest experience in gaming along with Outlast (at least back then), they just had captured the Terminator atmosphere so well, you feel the hopelessness in fighting this unstoppable force of remorseless robots, especially at the hospital level where they send like 10 T800 after your 4ss lol, i never got jumpscared or something playing both games back then, but Terminator was so well made and moody i was like "damn i wish i never have to experience a similar reality where we fight something like skynet" Im really glad that this RoboCop game looks dope as hell, will for sure try it out once i update my rig, to anyone who likes this game i recommend trying out Terminator Resistance, its amazingly good and this company deserves more recognition especially when their first game was such a huge flot (it was a Rambo game that was on rails shooter), but instead of quitting they decided to improve on themselves and came up with the best Terminator game this world has seen World building and atmosphere is something they excel at
I was pretty sold by the trailers. Looks like a fun shooting game. After armored core 6 I realized how much I missed games that were quick and crazy. I’ll get this soon for sure

Thr fact that is was made by the same studio who worked on Terminator, Maybe we finally get a remake of Robo-Cop vs Terminator, haven't played the game since the good old Sega Genesis days. I'd buy that for a dollar!
I think this game will have longevity and will be polished by the modding community over time. Already seen suggestions from mods forums to add footsteps, Auto 9 Sound effects, and the mechanical sound Robo makes when he turns.
@@HappyDude1 There are footsteps and Auto 9 sounds in the game. But you know gamers, somebody will always find a way to make them better. The scanline CRT effect is on while Robo is in analyze or targeting mode. Personally, I'd love a short rendition of the theme when Robo arrests someone and they are taken away by the squad care. Weirdly there's no music in these sequences and the theme would go really well with Robo's heroic closeups.
I actually loved their terminator game, so I'm hyped. It was a game where the gameplay was mid but the encounter design was excellent, like genuinely excellent. On hard the difficulty was perfect, you got the power fantasy but also had to be aware because the terminators could melt you. One of those games that was much more than the sum of its parts.
Bought it and been streamin it ❤ no problems except some fps problems in cutscenes but that’s alright 9/10 so far and terminator resistance was awesome to platinum 2 times ❤

Yeah, I pre-ordered and finally entered Delta City today. I stayed away from the demo to be able to savor the game. I imagined it would be like Terminator Resistance: Infiltrator Mode and in the first few hours it really is, and then it starts adding stuff in. I enjoyed it immensely. I'm probably only quarter of the way through, but I got what I wanted. I remember playing the 2D platformers back in the 90s on a variety of platforms, and then there was a rail shooter arcade game. Well, the mobile one wasn't too bad but got boring quickly. It always surprised me how few Robocop games there were. So finally there is this one, long awaited Rogue City, which even with its dated graphics (well, faces mainly) still delivers the atmosphere of the original movies in an immersive way. Thank you Teyon for two of the best games on two of the best franchises ever.
Best RoboCop game ever made. I was hooked from the opening and was loving it all the way through. We definitely need games like these that help you escape from the day to day grind! Nothing too smart or overly complicated, just plain dumb fun.
This THIS. More games like this. You can get quality without being a bloated AAA game, B tier games are some of the most endearing ones people remember.
I will 100% be getting this game. I love Robocop. Being a child of the 80's I played the original arcade game. Even Played the ZX Spectrum port, which for its time was brilliant. Really looking forward to playing. Will have to re-watch Robocop 1 and 2 now :)
Weird, because I really enjoyed the side quests, they are funny too at times and I also enjoy walking around slowly backtracking or searching for random violation and crimes and citizen who needs help while listening to that metalic step sound of Robocop. It feels like you explore and get to know more the side of Robocop that the movies didn't tell you. Who would have thought that we get to search for (SPOILER! DON'T READ AFTER THIS) a missing house cat and ended up shooting bad guys in the end of the side quest.
Ok, so it looks like they put some care into this, but it’s unpolished in some areas. That can be tightened up with updates if their will be any post release support.
I preordered the Alex Murphy edition and I have been having a lot of fun with it. As you said it isn't perfect and has some issues, but it's still charming as hell, especially as a die hard fan. I have played every Robocop game pretty much, from the old arcade versions, the NES versions, SNES versions, Robocop vs. Terminator and even the XBox one. I even actually liked the XBox one. It was hard as fuck, but I managed to have fun with it. I do get why most people didn't though.
Looks more like a walking simulator shooting gallery with infinite ammo and health. You only know it's RoboCop because you see him in cutscenes, nothing about the HUD or gameplay differentiates this game from most other 90s-2000s FPS shooters.
So far this game has been a blast on ps5. Just like review said, the shooting is gruesome fun and most importantly it gets the feel of Robocop perfectly. The devs did great job expanding out the world with the extra side content to give a good sense of pacing. The only real negatives are the cutscene animations needed more work in the lip syncing and face visuals and perhaps controls could have been a bit more tuned (still not bad). Other then that the game is good. If your a fan of Robocop or linear fps games, then this is definitely worth looking into!
@@benw3029 I've done both, don't see a huge difference so I just stick to performance. But I can't find much info on exactly what the difference in fps and resolutions between the two are, so might be worth looking into
I'd buy that for a dollar. Honestly this game would be impossible to make for a AAA company because they need to adhere to progressive social norms and most of the stuff in the Robocop franchise are a no-no for "modern audiences"
I loved the Terminator game they put out. From what I've played so far of this game (4 or 5 hours in), I have loved what I've seen so far. Like the Terminator Universe, they've nailed down what makes Robocop, well, Robocop. Not just the mechanics, but the feel and vibe the movies put out. From a nostalgia standpoint, what else would you want? I can't speak for youngsters who may not be versed in the franchise, but for me, this is a very bright point for the franchise as a whole.
Saw Gmanlives' review on this. So glad this game came out. 2023 is truly one of the best years for gaming. The developers definitely went above and beyond with the budget they had.
You mentioned how you make a good Superman game, since he's invincible. They did a good job with Superman Returns on the XBox 360. You were indestructible, but the section of the city you were in had a health bar. If that section took too much damage, you lost the mission, and had to do it again. That's the best way to do that kind of game.
I guess I am the odd man out but I like the difficult part of the game to be the beginning. I prefer the end to be a bit easier because with all the time I put in I expect to be a badass at the end except for boss battles😂
So the company that made a surprisingly good Terminator game made a surprisingly good Robocop game.... Do not make me beg what needs to happen next!! Robocop Vs. Terminator remake!!!!
I am definitely the target audience for this. RoboCop is an absolute favorite film. And I played this for a bit last night, and it did what I wanted. You stride in like nothing can stop you, you end people violently, and then you have weird conversations with people as you arrest them. The voice acting especially for characters you know is sometimes wildly different. But it is fun and not trying to be the Last of Us.

They added more content to the Terminator game so maybe they’ll do that with this one too.
@@Ahrimane that would be awesome. After saying RoboCop, I really need to give the Terminator game a try. Is it good?
Looking past the faults, you still can enjoy the game for what it is, as RoboCop fan or non fan.
Sometimes gamers focus too much on the negatives, without enjoying the many positives a game can offer.
Thanks for the honesty Jake, as a RoboCop fan and gamer.
Focusing on the negative is the new social media meta, just look at Starfield. It was a good game for about 2 weeks, now it's the worst game Bethesda, or any studio for that matter, has ever made in the history of gaming.
Past
Games are expensive nowadays, so a little criticism goes a long way.
@@BixRibene yes, exactly, that's why I'm giving Jake his props, for constructive criticism.
*non-fan.
These devs keep improving with each new game. Would love to see what they can do with the Predator IP.
I was thinking the same thing!
This. Dam ilfonic drop the ball on a full of potential game. Predator needs at least 1 modern single player game
Or Frozen crossover with Terminator. Imagine you are a cybernetic Olaf! Elza, come with me if you want to live! And the final goodbye as he's melting himself to save the future...
@@RaineWilderThats The most headass shit ive heard all day and it’s barely 1:20 am💀💀
We already had Predator Hunting Grounds few years ago.
“I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle”
Wait, hold on…
I've never played a RoboCop game but I've always bloody enjoyed the films so picking this up is a no brainer. I will wait until it goes down in price as I have a big backlog at the moment.
Can’t ever skip a before you buy! Ty for the best daily vids! 🕹️
thank YOU!
Gameranx, the only review I trust. IGN-orant=Robo7!
There was one game from 1988. Perfect arcade.
I wonder what you'll think of the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine game then..
From my understanding it is going to be like an open world X Men Origins: Wolverine game..
@@TheGamersGrottomade by the developers behind PS4/5 era Spiderman games, no less. Going to be epic
@@TheGamersGrotto Could be very good if that's the angle.
Nostalgic modern double A gaming. Simple, fun, doesn’t overstay its welcome.
Some simple good old-fashioned video game fun. That is exactly what this game needed to be, and it looks like it delivers. Well done Teyon.
Yeah no bullshit just straight up video game, something we need in 2023
Old fashioned games , doom duke nukem didn't have unlock shit. What is old fashioned to you?
I love the demo which is already a very nice thing that brings me back when game devs had nothing to hide.
I cannot skip this game because I love this character and the two first movies are really something special to me.
The game almost reminds me of the simple and gory gameplay loop of Soldier of Fortune back in the day. Nice to have a little skill tree on top now.
A bit of that and a bit of black due to the gameplay and effects. Black was on Xbox and PS2 FPS game
They really captured the first two movies. It is impressive.
Love the shooting damage.
Bethesda should take notes.
NOOOOOH?!? ..and 3 😛
Doom is nice
@@tiktokgirl007 3? nope! (to OLD)
AGREED 💯
Shooting damage? Well ya cause this game is linear as fuck and a million times smaller than a Bethesda game
Loved it.
The environmental damage is really impressive. It looks the same as COD games. Also the game overall looks fun. I might get this down the line
Huh cod games don't have any environmental destruction
Lol this game is Miles ahead of any COD game with the damage
But there's legit 0 environmental damage in CoD games..
Lmfao are you on glue?
Do you mean Battlefield?
A welcome Double A game. I'll play it when the crazy season winds down! Thanks Jake!
Its been a good few months that made me feel like a kid again. AC Mirage, Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, and now RoboCop! I miss having these smaller super fun games that aren’t 70+ hour longs. Thank you for the review, you guys are the best!
Yes I definitely remember seeing rainbow flags and people talking about their sexuality in my childhood marvel games.
Spider man 2 is terrible, nonsensical main story and identical gameplay to the first one.
But I'm glad you could enjoy it.
@@OffendEveryoneImmediatelycame here for this....thank you
@@OffendEveryoneImmediately OOOoo look at me, I'm so big and strong that I get upset seeing a pride flag.
@@demon794clearly he upset you or you wouldn’t have replied. It’s not that serious. People can have their own opinions.
you can tell the studio really passionate and tried real hard to make a robocop game and it shows. appreciate that.
Cheers!
The easter eggs and attention to detail is incredible. This game is so simple yet does everything I’d want. I’m recommending to everyone.
So good to see AA games being well received!
Their Terminator game was awesome af, i remember playing it parallel with Resident Evil 7, and being more intimidated by their game compared to RE7 which some people say is the scariest experience in gaming along with Outlast (at least back then), they just had captured the Terminator atmosphere so well, you feel the hopelessness in fighting this unstoppable force of remorseless robots, especially at the hospital level where they send like 10 T800 after your 4ss lol, i never got jumpscared or something playing both games back then, but Terminator was so well made and moody i was like "damn i wish i never have to experience a similar reality where we fight something like skynet"
Im really glad that this RoboCop game looks dope as hell, will for sure try it out once i update my rig, to anyone who likes this game i recommend trying out Terminator Resistance, its amazingly good and this company deserves more recognition especially when their first game was such a huge flot (it was a Rambo game that was on rails shooter), but instead of quitting they decided to improve on themselves and came up with the best Terminator game this world has seen
World building and atmosphere is something they excel at
I was pretty sold by the trailers. Looks like a fun shooting game. After armored core 6 I realized how much I missed games that were quick and crazy. I’ll get this soon for sure
Armored core 6 is one of my favorite games of this year. Glad to see someone else enjoying it.
Holy fuck I made it to almost when yall posted. You guys are the ONLY reviewers I listen to because you guys tell how it is from a gamers perspective and I just love it. Thank you guys for all the hard work you guys do. Best gaming channel on TH-cam hands down
Just picked up the Alex Murphy version on Steam for £24.99. I’m a huge Robocop fan from back in the late 80’s and I’m loving this.
Already seen suggestions from mods forums to add footsteps, Auto 9 Sound effects, and the mechanical sound Robo makes when he turns.
and the scanline CRT looking thingy full time, not just while zoomed in. I love the look of that.
Thats not in the game ??? Thats the best part

4 franchises that hollywood doesn't care about but hopefully gaming will save: Terminator, Robocop, Dredd, The Matrix
I saw a lot of effort and love in the demo. Hoping this sells well enough for a bigger and more ambitious sequel.
Been so hyped for this game! Can’t wait to grab my copy this weekend 🙌🔥
I've had this game since early access and is an absolute blast. Once you fine tune the shooting, it feels amazing !!!
Let's pray that they make a Predator and a Rambo game.
I'm so hyped.
Wanted: Dead was another AA "B" game that i absolutely loved this year. Janky PS3 style goodness with humor and heart.
@@MatticusFinch1820now that game was terrible
I forgot about this game and now I want it lol
I will 100% be getting this game. I love Robocop. Being a child of the 80's I played the original arcade game. Even Played the ZX Spectrum port, which for its time was brilliant. Really looking forward to playing. Will have to re-watch Robocop 1 and 2 now :)
Just bought it, and I absolutely ❤ it. Being a child of the 80s, I'm a huge Robocop fan, and this is the game I didn't know I needed.
This looks like a lot of fun, but I still think the price point is a little too high for it. Definitely gonna pick this one up on sale
This is a really good RoboCop game, well optimized too. Definitely a good groundwork for a sequel
Excited to play this game but much like Terminator: Resistance it's better at a $30-40 price tag.
Ok, so it looks like they put some care into this, but it’s unpolished in some areas. That can be tightened up with updates if their will be any post release support.
I liked terminator resistance and had fun with the demo. Definitely getting it
I preordered the Alex Murphy edition and I have been having a lot of fun with it.
That was a good take on a great game, thanks for the presentation, Jake!
I like this studio. Robocop vs Terminator next! And then they can do a Predator game.
Looks more like a walking simulator shooting gallery with infinite ammo and health. You only know it's RoboCop because you see him in cutscenes, nothing about the HUD or gameplay differentiates this game from most other 90s-2000s FPS shooters.
RoboCop is back on the menu boys!
DAMN RIGHT
So far this game has been a blast on ps5.
How is the haptic feedback on the ps5 controller?
You play on performance or quality? I can’t decide
@@benw3029 I've done both, don't see a huge difference so I just stick to performance. But I can't find much info on exactly what the difference in fps and resolutions between the two are, so might be worth looking into
Saw it on xbox store for 34,99 as soon as i heard you can give people parking tickets i bought it 💀
10:58 Thanks for fixing my cracked display.
The only complaint I have is with the voice acting. Almost every villain sounds like Snarf from Thundercats.
Where’s the Goddamn pizza Jake!!??
His here in this video reviewing the game
I'd buy that for a dollar. Honestly this game would be impossible to make for a AAA company because they need to adhere to progressive social norms and most of the stuff in the Robocop franchise are a no-no for "modern audiences"
I'd buy that for a dollar...... But it's probably like $60
Still mf $60 on Xbox rn
I loved the Terminator game they put out. From what I've played so far of this game (4 or 5 hours in), I have loved what I've seen so far. Like the Terminator Universe, they've nailed down what makes Robocop, well, Robocop. Not just the mechanics, but the feel and vibe the movies put out. From a nostalgia standpoint, what else would you want? I can't speak for youngsters who may not be versed in the franchise, but for me, this is a very bright point for the franchise as a whole.
Robocop v Terminator remake incoming…
could it happen?!
Also, I hope they can do Judge Dredd!
Saw Gmanlives' review on this. So glad this game came out. 2023 is truly one of the best years for gaming. The developers definitely went above and beyond with the budget they had.
“I’d buy that for a dollar”
Dam AA games need to make a come back like the ps2 days.
Robocop and Starship Troopers are the two best action movies of all time.
Worth my hard earned $1.
I really liked Terminator resistance and I'll definitely be picking this up
So the company that made a surprisingly good Terminator game made a surprisingly good Robocop game....
