Once I tried to book a private Bed and breakfast in the Netherlands. They hesitated to give the house to me. In my message I told them, that I am a super clean person, work in the hospitality industry. Immediately I was given the house to stay. When I left....... I left house very clean. They thanked me so much. But many European Hotels dont want Indians as guests. Especially Switzerland , Germany, The Netherlands...
That's stupid. The whites when they come to India and stay in a room it smells like shit. Their body odour is even bad as they don't bathe!!! Don't be stupid and behave like a white man slave.

basic problem is we are not taught civic sense and manners when young. we brush teeth every morning because we developed it as a 'habit' from young. similarly, we should develop habits/attitudes to stop spitting on roads, abusing others (both in social media and real life), talking loud in public places etc. these things should be taught first in home and then in LKG, UKG (not letters in alphabet or other academic things)
Indians especially mallus take pride in hooliganism, we have a perception that if we are a hooligan we are badass Disobeying rules, arrogant behavior, talking loud in public, spitting everywhere, pushing people in public etc etc stems from such attitude
I am a Kerala born Delhite and trust me Malayalees and South Indians are still far better in basic manners then other other people from our Country, the guest is being too harsh on Malayalees. Yes he saying because he has some experience but he gotta see how filthy many towns and cities are in North, East and Western India.
@rahul Bro he can’t speak to everyone in India. Only audience he has is us. We malayalees are far better than others. But we have lot of room for improvement. People in kerala are intelligent and capable of doing many things. The old government and religion problems are drowning and stoping us. At least if we succeed at developing our Kerala like other best countries, it will be a motivation for other states to follow.
The problem is they think what they learn at home is the only way of living or dressing. I have seen kids throwing snacks wrappers out of the window in hospital rooms.
When we fly to kerala, the last leg from Singapore, Malaysia etc is a nightmare. More than 80% of travellers are drunkards and stare at everyone else. It's a very uncomfortable journey and we always try to get the first row seats just avoid interacting with crowd.

Although malayalees are comparatively better, our problem is oversmartness and unnecessary competitiveness. Thinks Queuing is for fools, even if there are only 4 people to pay at a textile showroom, no one gives a damn about the person who was there at first. Also, went to Armenia for a trip. People in the group were completely ignoring the local rules there. Not properly queuing and fighting with the officer issuing visas (coz they have UAE visas and the entitlement that comes along) and dancing (drunk) in the tour bus (as if they are on a college trip to Ooty😅), despite several warnings from guide that police will fine the driver.

Emirates flight from Kochi to Dubai and Dubai to Frankfurt were two completely different experiences. The flight to Europe was a nice flight serving alcohol, and great food. The other one had almost broken seats.
My friend airhostes from malaysia, she said it was a nightmare flying to kochi, people were molasting, touching here and there, and she told that she never want to take if the scedule if it is to kochi. 😟 its really shameful to listen to such thing when you live abroad

Cabin crew of middle east carriers do not prefer to operate on sectors to India ..they try to get their duties changed to other routes if they have a choice. The same crew behave way better with you when you fly to a different destination...so it's not the color of your skin, it's their experience on each route. The allocation of older aircrafts in our routes is strategical though. Newer aircrafts offer better operational efficiency on longer routes...simple...
Operational efficiency is one strategy. Marketing and branding are other strategies. Airlines aim to maximize profits from their operations. Been in this industry for a while and spent about a decade in the operations center of one such airline, actually working with the personnel who allocate aircrafts to routes, which is why I say...
I grew up in the 90’s as an Nri gulf malayalee and used to travel to Kerala during vacation. Most people felt entitled to ask for more than 2 drinks even when the air hostess politely says no. Some people will make their spouse grab a few drinks for them. And the lavatories towards the end of the flight is unbearable. Now happily settled in the US, we get treated well in our flights from here to maybe Qatar or Abu Dhabi but there is a decline in a positive attitude in most of the connection flights to Kerala. But things have improved a lot from the 90’s imo.
What he said is absolutely true. I traveled 27 countries till now and 90% of the flight from india to layover destination is so bad. I also felt the staffs are rude . And a complete change from the layover country to the destination country

മനുഷ്യർക്ക്‌ കുറെ നല്ല qualities ഉണ്ട്. സത്യസന്ധത, കൃത്യനിഷ്0 ,അനുസരണ,സഹതാപം,വൃത്തി,സ്നേഹം.... etc. അനുസരണയില്ലാത്തവരാണ് traffic rules തെറ്റിക്കുന്നത്. വൃത്തി ഇല്ലാത്തവരാണ് റോഡിൽ മാലിന്യം ഇടുന്നത്. പലരും purposefully ഇതൊന്നും ചെയ്യുന്നതല്ല. അത് തെറ്റാണെന്ന് അവരെ ആരും പഠിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. Education, Govt. rules എന്നിവ കൊണ്ട് ഇതെല്ലാം പ്രാവർത്തികമാക്കാം.

ഞങ്ങൾ ഒരു യാത്രയ്ക്കിടെ ഹോട്ടൽ താമസിച്ചപ്പോൾ നടന്ന സംഭവം. പ്രഭാതഭക്ഷണത്തിന്റെ സമയം. ഹോട്ടൽ ഭക്ഷണം Buffet സ്റ്റൈൽ ആണ്. എല്ലാവരും ഒരുതവണ എടുത്ത ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു കഴിയാറായി. രണ്ടാമത് ഭക്ഷണം എടുക്കാൻ പോയപ്പോൾ ആണ് ഞാൻ ആ കാര്യം ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചത്. ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കാൻ ഉപയോഗിച്ച കൈയ്യിൽ സ്പൂൺ പിടിച്ചാണ് എന്റെ വല്യപ്പൻ വീണ്ടും ഭക്ഷണം എടുക്കുന്നത്. എനിക്കത് വളരെ മോശം രീതിയായി തോന്നി.

My daughter studies in government school in Kerala. They have an entire chapter dedicated to cleanliness(how to keep oneself and surroundings clean) and another for waste disposal(various types of wastes and how to dispose them). So it's not because it's not taught in schools.
One chapter is not enough,. It shall be tought from 1st std to 8th std on repetitive basis. Questions should be asked by true or false or multiple choices

I agree 100% that we Indians, in general, lack basic civic sense. In the west, people are taught basic manners at a very early age and they have a hood framework of rules to support this and a working police and law enforcement to enforce. Often the general public is well mannered enough that many of the unpleasant stuff that we see in India never even materialise in these countries. They teach their children, how to segregate and dispose waste, how to carry yourself in public, how to cross roads safely …such things even from school level- and schooling is mandatory and education is a right. Knowing our countries issues , accepting the faults and then taking steps to change ourselves will go a long way in addressing these things.
When we travel on public transport and our kids put their feet with shoes on the seats, I always remind my wife not to allow it. She tends to let them do it, trying to be a liberal parent. I tell her that people will not only blame us but will also spread the word that "Indians did this."

I hope Kerala one day truly becomes "God's Own Country," with people who are just as amazing. Even if the process begins during my lifetime, I would be happy. Kerala is the place I would choose to be born again if I were ever reincarnated.

We as a group are those who try to get a deal better than the next person. Or we want to get the best services, and from our part, we want to do the least. Our sense of injustice being done to us is greater than our wish to do justice to the next person. We want to get the best deal (for ourselves) possible out of any situation, and failing this, makes us feel we are cheated. Helmets : do the bare minimum to avoid fines : get the cheapest ones which you can get Roads : go as fast as you can using all lanes without considering others Rooms : tidying up is the hotel's work, so if you do it, you are getting a worse deal than otherwise ( maybe we feel it is like washing the plate after eating in a hotel), we want to get away with the minimum payment for the maximum benefit. If this kind of thjnking continues, we will continue to behave this way.

I fully agree with the Santhosh's answer to why we in Kerala don't follow traffic rules. There is a tendency to oppose everything without proper investigation, a trial of experience or even plain trust in something. We just have to say NO to everything. Probably comes from the feeling that social justice will be cease to be if we comply with anything. It runs in our blood. But seems to disappear to a great extent in those who emigrate!

Our nightie is not a night wear like the Europeans(it's the most decent attire, it's not made of transparent material and it covers head to toe). Unless you are not dripping water everywhere, going out with wet hair is also not a nuisance.Also having dessert first or last is a personal choice. There's nothing indecent about it. Maybe but we leave hotel rooms with folded bed covers and things in place. I started watching the video with lots of scepticism. But as the video progressed, I just realised how true every bit of what he said is.
basic problem is we are not taught civic sense and manners when young. we brush teeth every morning because we developed it as a 'habit' from young. similarly, we should develop habits/attitudes to stop spitting on roads, abusing others (both in social media and real life), talking loud in public places etc. these things should be taught first in home and then in LKG, UKG (not letters in alphabet or other academic things)

When we fly to kerala, the last leg from Singapore, Malaysia etc is a nightmare. More than 80% of travellers are drunkards and stare at everyone else. It's a very uncomfortable journey and we always try to get the first row seats just avoid interacting with crowd.

Thinks Queuing is for fools, even if there are only 4 people to pay at a textile showroom, no one gives a damn about the person who was there at first. Also, went to Armenia for a trip. People in the group were completely ignoring the local rules there. Not properly queuing and fighting with the officer issuing visas (coz they have UAE visas and the entitlement that comes along) and dancing (drunk) in the tour bus (as if they are on a college trip to Ooty😅), despite several warnings from guide that police will fine the driver.

Emirates flight from Kochi to Dubai and Dubai to Frankfurt were two completely different experiences. The flight to Europe was a nice flight serving alcohol, and great food. The other one had almost broken seats.

Cabin crew of middle east carriers do not prefer to operate on sectors to India ..they try to get their duties changed to other routes if they have a choice. The same crew behave way better with you when you fly to a different destination...so it's not the color of your skin, it's their experience on each route.
The allocation of older aircrafts in our routes is strategical though. Newer aircrafts offer better operational efficiency on longer routes...simple...

I grew up in the 90’s as an Nri gulf malayalee and used to travel to Kerala during vacation. Most people felt entitled to ask for more than 2 drinks even when the air hostess politely says no. Some people will make their spouse grab a few drinks for them. And the lavatories towards the end of the flight is unbearable.
Now happily settled in the US, we get treated well in our flights from here to maybe Qatar or Abu Dhabi but there is a decline in a positive attitude in most of the connection flights to Kerala. But things have improved a lot from the 90’s imo.

My daughter studies in government school in Kerala. They have an entire chapter dedicated to cleanliness(how to keep oneself and surroundings clean) and another for waste disposal(various types of wastes and how to dispose them). So it's not because it's not taught in schools.
One chapter is not enough,. It shall be tought from 1st std to 8th std on repetitive basis. Questions should be asked by true or false or multiple choices

I agree 100% that we Indians, in general, lack basic civic sense. In the west, people are taught basic manners at a very early age and they have a hood framework of rules to support this and a working police and law enforcement to enforce. Often the general public is well mannered enough that many of the unpleasant stuff that we see in India never even materialise in these countries. They teach their children, how to segregate and dispose waste, how to carry yourself in public, how to cross roads safely …such things even from school level- and schooling is mandatory and education is a right.
Knowing our countries issues , accepting the faults and then taking steps to change ourselves will go a long way in addressing these things.
When we travel on public transport and our kids put their feet with shoes on the seats, I always remind my wife not to allow it. She tends to let them do it, trying to be a liberal parent. I tell her that people will not only blame us but will also spread the word that "Indians did this."

I fully agree with the Santhosh's answer to why we in Kerala don't follow traffic rules. There is a tendency to oppose everything without proper investigation, a trial of experience or even plain trust in something. We just have to say NO to everything. Our nightie is not a night wear like the Europeans(it's the most decent attire, it's not made of transparent material and it covers head to toe). Unless you are not dripping water everywhere, going out with wet hair is also not a nuisance.Also having dessert first or last is a personal choice. There's nothing indecent about it. The last part about traffic discipline is an interesting topic. The basic difference in traffic discipline in different countries stems from the fact that to get a driving license in many countries you have to learn the traffic rules thoroughly. The theory test is exhaustive and so is the actual driving test. By the time you get your license you know what is right and what is wrong and how to behave correctly in traffic so that everyone on the road is safe. When you put a bribe and get your driving license with no knowledge of rules and regulations and how to be a safe driver, then we end up in the situation which was touched upon in the discussion.

Absolutely correct to all mentioned. Civic sense, etiquette, manners must be taught from early years of learning, knowledge and education cannot give you such kind of finesse. Exposure , and much more are required to meet those standards. We need good finishing schools to get people there.

Maybe but we leave hotel rooms with folded bed covers and things in place. I am a Keralite but I feel this is the case with Indians not just malayalis- the ones who are not schooled properly- you’re right we as Indians lack civic sense, and are lawless. This needs to be addressed at school level education. Honour laws, social etiquette, volunteer etc. but our education is focussed on other unwanted subjects and politically influenced.
