Trying to choose between this one and The Lost Art of Handwriting by Brenna Jordan. So difficult!
It’s always hard to choose between books!

Excellent review.Im from the Uk and this is the only book I can get of his over here that doesn’t cost a ridiculous amount of money. Its a good basis for other styles like Spencarian or Palmer.
You are right that one of the most useful aspects is the lesson plans…as knowing what to do next can be frustrating and can easily turn into a point of resistance. But here you just follow his plan knowing there is some logic to what he gets you to practice even if you are not sure why yet.
Although I have several other resources I decided to use his book as my main one because its so well thought out and thorough.I feel thats the way to make the fastest progress , settle on a basic source then you can build on that foundation. Then apply the principles of deliberate practice which this book also facilitates as it has all the resources you need to analyse your practice. Frankly Im amazed it isn’t more expensive.
Hey @begbrook123 thanks for your comment. That’s really interesting that it’s difficult to get cursive books there, I thought there would be sooo many in the UK! When you finish this book and want to learn more - you can always find old handwriting manuals online, or you could go to your local library and do interlibrary loan (if they don’t have what you’re looking for). I’m really curious (because you’re from the UK) - what kind of handwriting education did you receive in school?
Most schools, I went to quite a few, did no formal handwriting training ( I’m talking about the 1960’s) but one school did insist on italic. They only made one exception and he was an American . By the time he came to our school he had immaculate Spencarian and he was an A student so they let him be.Italic was slow and broke down very quickly with any speed so that’s when I started looking at other styles like copperplate and engrossers but again they were not very fluid and not really suited to speed. So in the end I found cursive and Mr Sulls course. Now I use cursive with Spencarian or ornamental capitals but still use copperplate or engrossers for more formal things.
However have to say that our postal service is so expensive now that letter writing is all but killed off. When at school we had pen pals and even played chess by post. Lol I’m sounding really old!
Wow, that’s really interesting! I agree that letter writing can become a bit pricy, but when it is time to send a letter, it’s fun to decorate it. I wonder how much the postal system struggles with cursive, because many people aren’t taught it. 📝
I love people back in the days coz they all have beautiful handwritings. I can do cursive but I want Michael Sull's book on my shelve. Watching your video makes me want it even more
Yes, handwriting used to be very Important for people to have. I hope you get the book, it’s really great 😌

@@ohsfer11820international shipping can get really frustrating! Did you learn cursive growing up? Or is it a new hobby?
@@aliyyaharteIt was taught briefly in grade school but I learned by copying my parents handwriting. I can also imitate my friends handwriting😬 But I would say it is a hobby for me. Beautiful handwriting is an art. Thank you for sharing your work and recommending this book❤
@@ohsfer11820 In elementary school, I was only taught cursive for a few weeks (but I still have the workbook 😅) . It is a great hobby to have. Yes, beautiful handwriting is an art, but sadly it seems to be dying out. So happy you like my channel 😁✍️✨

I will always recommend the Speedball handbook! The fonts are so superior to spencerian script.
The Speedball handbook is really great!
Looks like it's set in an Antiqua typeface.
