The fact that I live in Indianapolis and can name streets in Houston and feel these stories like I lived them and grew up with these guys is crazy to me. I’ve been jammin screw since 98, and can’t put into words the influence the entire SUC has had on my life.
@flip flop I randomly bought DJ Screws The Legend one day at this record store I used to go to. I spent the next 3 days listening to it on repeat, the rest is history after that. I have every ZRo album, every Keke album, 12 DJ Screw albums, ESG Sailin Da South album, Lil O, Guerilla Maab...literally SUC is all I listen to.
The started rapping for fun, and talk about things they actually do and live...no other musical culture is as genuine as Houston’s. 2Pac, Biggie, JayZ...everyone started rapping to make money, but not the SUC. They are organic and raw and real.

It's crazy hearing SPM's voice. You can tell that prison has destroyed that old spirit he use to have. It's pretty sad but I'm happy he is still going strong. He really was on some next level shit. Thanks for sharing this. The fans need it.

Rap was slang for talking and when the emcees started talking over beats at hip hop parties back in the 70s they would call it rapping "hes rapping over the beat" eventually they started rhyming and over time it turned into the rap we know

Wow..I cant believe SPM spent his entire rap career thinkin he was dying of Aids..Only to find out (in 2008) after years of being in prison that he never had it.
I think he just had a negative thinking pattern that stemmed from his childhood
Like he knew that he was special and would be successful one day and kept a positive mindset when it came to his music but deep down he didn't feel 100% worthy of obtaining success without the devil taking it away from him in the worst possible way
Even after the fame, money, and everything else he just felt unworthy of a good life..
It's all in his music...For example..
Jackers in my home..I hear em saying Los I'ma getcha! I'm knowing it's the devil but eye pay him no mind, I've been dodging that fool ever since eye was nine
Prison saved him from the temptations that would've and almost killed him..
It's all a chess game, God's last move placed him where he is@ 2day which saved his life

Everybody was worried about what Screw could do for them not what they could do for Screw..... example....we went to kappa one year and few of us got there before Screw and we was meeting at popeyes and me and someone else(no names) said let's get some food while we wait for Screw and we started in and no one else came in and wen we went back out we asked why y'all ain't getting food, they said they had to wait on Screw so he could buy everybody food.....most of who y'all think was down wit him was actually just hanger ons

I remember back in the day being at this bar called Tejano Boulevard, it was a straight up hood ass bar on the Northside. One Saturday night SPM pulled up in there with Kid Frost and a big ass entourage. That was Houston in the 90s.
My aunt and uncle owned boulevard nights on Irvington Blvd and Crosstimbers. I’ve heard that story. My aunt said she ain’t care who they were they had to get in line.

Damn I’m sorry to hear that I suffer from ptsd and anxiety so I definitely understand how strong and dangerous your mind can be when it turns against you I use to have to smoke and drink myself into a coma every night just to sleep I’m thankful I stopped using drugs and alcohol but my anxiety still gets the best of me sometimes and makes me physically ill so stress is not good for the body.
@@Evergreen1400 yea anxiety attacks takes me everything i have to try to stay calm... Its mentally exhausting. Seems pain pills makes it manageable. Put me in a decent enough mood which motivates me to function normally. Its a constant battle in my head. Glad to relate to someone who knows what its like.. Im glad that your substance fres. @@simonrosas7937. After alcohol and marijuana no longer had the power to put me down for the night I started using oxycodone it was pretty much the only thing that could give me a good nights sleep. I guess it started with drank I started sipping Codeine and promethozine that stopped being strong enough so I started to pop a couple Percocets with my drank then next thing I know I’m crushing perc 30’s mixing them in my drank then I just went straight to doing lines of perc 30’s or whatever I could get so yeah ive been to the bottom of the bottom. I’m nowhere near perfect I still smoke marijuana but nowhere near like I use to one of the biggest things that helped me was me seriously changing my life I had to leave the streets and pretty much everyone I knew from my life alone because my life was what caused me so much anxiety and stress which made me use drugs I’m return so I had to change my life and give all that stuff up I no longer worry about the police coming to get me or going to prison or my enemies/friends trying to kill me im not going to say I don’t have any worries in my life because I do but I try to make my life as stress free as possible I hope you are able to find some peace in your life you deserve it, you owe yourself the peace in life you deserve.

SPM comes up for parole in Oct 2024. He has a 45 year sentence. It's highly unlikely he gets granted parole on his FIRST review after 22.5 years, half of the 45. Esp on an aggravated sexual assault of a child case. Aggravated means his victim was under 14. I think she was 10 or 11. Hell he had a 10 year old kid who's mom was ONLY 20 😮 They may deny him and set him off 5 years til 2029 and review him again for parole. Texas is cutthroat with sexual and violent offenders. His music is still great. Good luck to him.

This case should be retried due to the lack of physical evidence. He was sentenced due to pure testimony. Remember he went to prison behind the 9 year old who stayed over SPMs house with SPM’s daughter
