I have you and Freddy as my fashion inspo. I used to be really scared of wearing feminine and classic clothing and I was stuck with Tshirts, jeans, and cargo shorts. But seeing you and Freddy feel so confident about your personal style regardless of other people's opinion really inspired me.
amalie schimmell I started buying dresses with styles similar to Josie's/Freddy's and wore them on certain occasions like dates or shopping (yes it is an occasion for me) or lunch with my parents. Wearing heels really helped with my confidence whenever I wear such styles. When I first started, I usually had my head down due to shame but the more I wear classic/feminine styles, the more I feel.confident in wearing them although I'm still not confident enough to wear them on a day to day basis. Still , now I can keep my head up, be proud of my style, and feel fab ! (Sorry for the very long comment)
Did you know you can find such amazing finds while shopping at thrift shops? I found a gorgeous camel hair coat made in Germany for 25.00? Amazing brand, can't recall as it's covered with a garment bag now. Similar to your one from Reis? For $450.00? Also I found some Chanel handbags over the years-- I have a red vintage one and also a pink and black vintage one too. Well since I don't work any longer, I have time to graze the thrift shops so that's fun! One of my style icons is Kate Winslet, also Princess Charlene of Monaco and of course you!Thank you Josie again for your beautiful vlog~You're getting wiser as time goes on. xo
My problem is that I know what I really want to wear but I also know that it would be really impractical/ over-the-top for my lifestyle/ work. I work in a business-casual office, commute on public buses and never go anywhere fancy; I am worried I would look overdressed/ out of place. This is the only thing stopping me from committing to wearing certain styles/ pieces. Anyone else having a similar problem?
I sometimes feel overdressed because everyone at uni wear mostly casual clothes, but I like getting dressed up and owning up to it. It's your style, people will get used to it and it will become a part of your persona. So don't worry too much about being overdressed 😊

This one was really helpful. I just realized I don't like dark colours anymore, I'm more into pastel shades nowadays. White has become my new favourite colour. I must clean out my wardrobe which has no place for another dress yet I don't have anything to wear. I don't know if you ever watched Gossip Girl, but the way you dress up reminds me of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. Classy and feminine.

I had my colours done a few years ago and it’s the best thing I ever did. Not only did I start getting random compliments from strangers on the tube but I’ve realised overtime that everything in my wardrobe matches. So if I buy a new dress for example I’m likely to already have the shoes and bag to match from another outfit. Highly recommend it ladies 💕

That looks like what people call a 'dramatic' essence in the kibbe fashion. If you ask for people like that on the reddit community, you'll find a lot more inspo, and that aesthetic has been translated for all kinds of differrent statures, not just tall and statuesque people like her
actually it is you and freddy cousin-brown. i love wearing baby pink, white and in general neutral colours. i love femenine and elegant looking pieces which you can wear for an important event as well as for a day at univesity :)
You can always incorporate it within a signature fashion framework that you have, you just need to find out a certain accent that's very you personality wise. The kibbe system helps with that a lot, especially the notion of 'essence' (but the system did get a new makeover so the updated info is partly on reddit and the more intuitive path is on the facebook group strictly kibbe - helps with seeing things more clearly after you have a conceptual base).

The Go To retailer is the one thing i've figured out. I found a designer whose clothes really fit me. Joseph Ribkoff. But only his more traditional silhouettes . he can have some crazy drape-y pieces that are not me. Thanks for the rest of the suggestions.
Great Video! My sogniture style has currently been Zara & Wallis & M&S. They have beautiful flattering tops, trousers, coats & jacket which really bring out my persobality. I have bought beautiful quality coats which i have kept for 3 years. They represent my bubbly personality and is very elegant when i wear it. I cannot get rid of them because i adore them and they just a special touch to my outfits. personal style is 'tailored Bohemian' ... fashion icons are Diane Von Furstenberg (from the 70s, on), Edie Sedgwick (accessories), Cate Blanchett, and a TH-camr named Anna (channel is There She Goes), but #1 fashion icon/inspiration is another TH-camr named Elise Buch - her ability to combine patterns, textures, fabrics, cuts and silhouettes for her own signature style has provided me with endless motivation to find that same range and freedom with my own pieces and looks.
Huggable hangers are much better for your clothes- velvety and wider so you never get those shoulder points. Nothing slips off of them. They come in many different colors!

My style changes depending on the season. In spring and summer I usually go bohemian, but in fall and winter I lean towards more feminine/street style clothing. With that said, the number one person I tend to look up to fashion wise has lately been Millie Bobby Brown, no matter the season.

Hi Josie, love your videos! Just a tip, I am sure you are aware of this already as you are a smart gal, but knitwear should not be hung on hangers for any extended length of time. This can stretch and/or misshape the shoulders (good stores should have theirs folded on tables, not hung). I am sure you only hang yours for the purposes of filming your gorgeous videos but just thought I would mention so others will hopefully see this and if they pick up lovely knit pieces they can keep them looking fab for longer. Keep up the great content!

I very much like your style and enjoy watching your channel. I also appritiate most of your advices but I must say that I don't agree you should be wondering if someone else would wear something you are considering buying for yoursealf. I think the only important thing should be weather you like it or not and how comfortable you feal in it. Trying to copy someone elses style has nothing to do with finding your own style. Also, I feal like not everyone wants to have a specific 'signature' style, because some people like more than few colors or even styles. So I would recommend to everyone to get rid of things they don't like or don't feal comfortable in any more and buy peaces they will enjoy wearing, and not worry much weather it fits ito certain style or color sheme, I do however recommend to keep in mind weather you can combine it with the rest of your wardrobe. 😘

My style icon would be Blair Waldorf, I’m into very elegant, girly, almost school uniform like outfits. I love dressing up and wearing heels, skirts and jumpers. I enjoy styling my hair and make in different chic ways. Some of my staple brands are jcrew, Kate spade, Tory Burch, Burberry. I also really like New York, Paris, and London street style that looks preppy yet not to grown up. On occasion I like styles with a bit of an edge, like a pair of unique heels or interesting jewelry/accessories like bags and headbands. My all time favorite place to shop would be Nordstrom’s or von maur. Best of luck to everyone finding their own signature style, my best advice is your style can always change, don’t be afraid to defy the social norms and be yourself.
I don't know if I really have a style icon... I do consistently go for light colors in the warmer months and darker colors in the colder months. But usually solid colors in classic shapes with feminine details of some kind, usually in the accessories. 💕

Since watching you i realised I had intro'd greys and now whites (but i do check the wash labels- can't have dry clean only!) This was so interesting, and is really going to help me declutter my wardrobe, which is long overdue! I've narrowed down my style to Whimsical, Bohemian, Quirky and Vintage. The only style icons I can think of off the top of my head are Helena Bonham Carter and Kate Moss. Any other suggestions would be welcome!

30 piece capsule wardrobe of 3 neutrals: black, beige and white, minimal, sleek & edge, natural materials, signature earrings but nothing more. I have something for every occasion in all weathers covering every activity. I generally shop once per decade because my clothes last and last. BTW: how did your walk-in wardrobe build come out? My style icon is probably the Duchess of Cambridge, and not just because I'm writing about her in my dissertation lol. On the blogger front, I like you, Lydia Millen, and Fleur de Force. I don't know that I would ever copy any of your or their looks, because that kind of defeats the purpose of signature style, but each of you will feature something that just makes my heart flutter lol. Ted Baker is definitely one of my main places to shop, for accessories mainly since they don't carry plus sizes, but I swoon for their handbags. :) I'm loving all these style videos Josie. Wow Josie, you just opened up a whole new line of thinking for me. My personal style: Part is very girly, frilly where I can, like yours, you would be one of my icons. Another icon would be Christie Ressel, I love how she has helped me deal with being bigger. My other style is pretty casual beachy. I love the beach and live in Los Angeles. One of my things is wearing dresses, I love pom pom fringe. Instead of jeans or instead of a skirt and top. It is because of personal issues with my waistline and menopause. Will you do more on explaining some of the new make-up or fashion trends? What is in besides some of the new really shiny make up? I just got 3 of the NYX duo chromatic lip gloss, the blue (DayClub) is too wild for my hubby (he really did not like it). While a gold and pink (Booming and Fairplay) have been complemented on every time I have worn them over the last 2 weeks, especially at work. As I have been losing the weight I am also starting to wear more leggings and a tunic or jumper.

I work in a business-casual office, commute on public buses and never go anywhere fancy; I am worried I would look overdressed/ out of place. This is the only thing stopping me from committing to wearing certain styles/ pieces. Anyone else having a similar problem?

I sometimes feel overdressed because everyone at uni wear mostly casual clothes, but I like getting dressed up and owning up to it. It's your style, people will get used to it and it will become a part of your persona. So don't worry too much about being overdressed 😊

This one was really helpful. I just realized I don't like dark colours anymore, I'm more into pastel shades nowadays. White has become my new favourite colour. I must clean out my wardrobe which has no place for another dress yet I don't have anything to wear. I don't know if you ever watched Gossip Girl, but the way you dress up reminds me of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. Classy and feminine.

I had my colours done a few years ago and it’s the best thing I ever did. Not only did I start getting random compliments from strangers on the tube but I’ve realised overtime that everything in my wardrobe matches. So if I buy a new dress for example I’m likely to already have the shoes and bag to match from another outfit. Highly recommend it ladies 💕

That looks like what people call a 'dramatic' essence in the kibbe fashion. If you ask for people like that on the reddit community, you'll find a lot more inspo, and that aesthetic has been translated for all kinds of differrent statures, not just tall and statuesque people like her

You can always incorporate it within a signature fashion framework that you have, you just need to find out a certain accent that's very you personality wise. The kibbe system helps with that a lot, especially the notion of 'essence' (but the system did get a new makeover so the updated info is partly on reddit and the more intuitive path is on the facebook group strictly kibbe - helps with seeing things more clearly after you have a conceptual base).

The Go To retailer is the one thing i've figured out. I found a designer whose clothes really fit me. Joseph Ribkoff. But only his more traditional silhouettes . he can have some crazy drape-y pieces that are not me. Thanks for the rest of the suggestions.
Great Video! My sogniture style has currently been Zara & Wallis & M&S. They have beautiful flattering tops, trousers, coats & jacket which really bring out my persobality. I have bought beautiful quality coats which i have kept for 3 years. They represent my bubbly personality and is very elegant when i wear it. I cannot get rid of them because i adore them and they just a special touch to my outfits. personal style is 'tailored Bohemian' ... fashion icons are Diane Von Furstenberg (from the 70s, on), Edie Sedgwick (accessories), Cate Blanchett, and a TH-camr named Anna (channel is There She Goes), but #1 fashion icon/inspiration is another TH-camr named Elise Buch - her ability to combine patterns, textures, fabrics, cuts and silhouettes for her own signature style has provided me with endless motivation to find that same range and freedom with my own pieces and looks.
Huggable hangers are much better for your clothes- velvety and wider so you never get those shoulder points. Nothing slips off of them. They come in many different colors!

My style changes depending on the season. In spring and summer I usually go bohemian, but in fall and winter I lean towards more feminine/street style clothing. With that said, the number one person I tend to look up to fashion wise has lately been Millie Bobby Brown, no matter the season.

Hi Josie, love your videos! Just a tip, I am sure you are aware of this already as you are a smart gal, but knitwear should not be hung on hangers for any extended length of time. This can stretch and/or misshape the shoulders (good stores should have theirs folded on tables, not hung). I am sure you only hang yours for the purposes of filming your gorgeous videos but just thought I would mention so others will hopefully see this and if they pick up lovely knit pieces they can keep them looking fab for longer. Keep up the great content!

I very much like your style and enjoy watching your channel. I also appritiate most of your advices but I must say that I don't agree you should be wondering if someone else would wear something you are considering buying for yoursealf. I think the only important thing should be weather you like it or not and how comfortable you feal in it. Trying to copy someone elses style has nothing to do with finding your own style. Also, I feal like not everyone wants to have a specific 'signature' style, because some people like more than few colors or even styles. So I would recommend to everyone to get rid of things they don't like or don't feal comfortable in any more and buy peaces they will enjoy wearing, and not worry much weather it fits ito certain style or color sheme, I do however recommend to keep in mind weather you can combine it with the rest of your wardrobe. 😘

My style icon would be Blair Waldorf, I’m into very elegant, girly, almost school uniform like outfits. I love dressing up and wearing heels, skirts and jumpers. I enjoy styling my hair and make in different chic ways. Some of my staple brands are jcrew, Kate spade, Tory Burch, Burberry. I also really like New York, Paris, and London street style that looks preppy yet not to grown up. On occasion I like styles with a bit of an edge, like a pair of unique heels or interesting jewelry/accessories like bags and headbands. My all time favorite place to shop would be Nordstrom’s or von maur. Best of luck to everyone finding their own signature style, my best advice is your style can always change, don’t be afraid to defy the social norms and be yourself.

I don't know if I really have a style icon... I do consistently go for light colors in the warmer months and darker colors in the colder months. But usually solid colors in classic shapes with feminine details of some kind, usually in the accessories. 💕

Since watching you i realised I had intro'd greys and now whites (but i do check the wash labels- can't have dry clean only!) This was so interesting, and is really going to help me declutter my wardrobe, which is long overdue! I've narrowed down my style to Whimsical, Bohemian, Quirky and Vintage. I have something for every occasion in all weathers covering every activity. I generally shop once per decade because my clothes last and last. BTW: how did your walk-in wardrobe build come out? My style icon is probably the Duchess of Cambridge, and not just because I'm writing about her in my dissertation lol. On the blogger front, I like you, Lydia Millen, and Fleur de Force. I don't know that I would ever copy any of your or their looks, because that kind of defeats the purpose of signature style, but each of you will feature something that just makes my heart flutter lol. Ted Baker is definitely one of my main places to shop, for accessories mainly since they don't carry plus sizes, but I swoon for their handbags. :) I'm loving all these style videos Josie. The more I see of them the more I wish you would write a book with all of this information so I could have it to flip through when I need inspiration. :) xx

Wow Josie, you just opened up a whole new line of thinking for me. My personal style: Part is very girly, frilly where I can, like yours, you would be one of my icons. Another icon would be Christie Ressel, I love how she has helped me deal with being bigger. My other style is pretty casual beachy. I love the beach and live in Los Angeles. One of my things is wearing dresses, I love pom pom fringe. Instead of jeans or instead of a skirt and top. It is because of personal issues with my waistline and menopause. Will you do more on explaining some of the new make-up or fashion trends? What is in besides some of the new really shiny make up? I just got 3 of the NYX duo chromatic lip gloss, the blue (DayClub) is too wild for my hubby (he really did not like it). While a gold and pink (Booming and Fairplay) have been complemented on every time I have worn them over the last 2 weeks, especially at work. As I have been losing the weight I am also starting to wear more leggings and a tunic or jumper.
