Best quote: "Be honest with yourself." Will I wear it? Do I love it?" Or, is it an impulse or am I thinking of buying it to model someone else? Good advice...makes me think!
After weeks of research and hesitating I've made a break through after watching your videos - I just basically grabbed the best clothes that I love to wear and moved them to a spare wardrobe, creating a basic sectioned capsule wardrobe. Stage one! Thanks Signe.
For ladies with more well endowed busts, a crewneck is often the wrong way to go. They actually make everything appear larger and are not particularly flattering in general. A v neck is much better and doesn’t make you look like a large, lumpy wall.
Fashion Diva I have triangle shape, round face, B cup and small neck so crew-necks, roll-necks and sweaters make me look fat. I'd rather wear v-necks, lose necks and cardigans to look slimmer.
Ladies, she has a wonderful cool color-based wardrobe, if you are on the warm side (skin, eyes, hair) try to chose warm tones for the upper clothes (instead of gray, taupe, instead of cool white, warm white and so on).
OMG I have just realized this video is from 5 years ago, I thought it was new,!!!! so timeless pieces you are still on trend, even 5 years later!!!! I am amazed :)
I really like your advice to be honest with yourself when it comes to style. How many times did I buy items I "wished" I would wear and never did. Stick to what works for you and be true to yourself 💜
This has been neat. I'm with you on the heel hight and comfort in shoes; haven't worn anything High in years. Looking forward to the next in this series. Thanks and Cheers.
Agreed! I don't even own a white bra anymore. Nude works much better with everything--especially white. Probably one of the best tips anyone ever gave me.
Yeah I noticed after a year how much of my clothes I really wear. All I wore the whole year we're basics plain short and long tops,d denim shorts jeans with a simple cardigan, hoody or jacket. Guess when have family (hubby and kids 4 & 5 year olds) tend to want dress quick and comfortable.
Two years later and your video still comes handy! I'm planning a 3 months trip to Europe and your video has been a huge inspiration to know what I should pack! Thank you! ♥
So glad I found this video! I find the hardest thing about trying to create my own capsule wardrobe is how many dresses, thin pants and skirts people tend to use in my research on how to create a minimal wardrobe- but I only wear jeans too! Thanks so much for us pants wearing people's 💖💖💖
I like the way you’ve curated your wardrobe. It’s very functional and mixable. I am doing good because I already have several of the basics in my closet.
I'll be going to the library to check out "The Cool Factor" for sure. With your help, I have streamlined my clothing pretty nicely but I really need to tackle my jewelry & accessories. Really looking forward to this series!
Thanks to you I have already started my capsule/basic wardrobe and most of my pieces have come from second hand shopping, im currently on the hunt for a leather jacket and some light washed levis jeans wish me luck lol, I plan on applying this method to my childrens wardrobe as well, thank you for all the style love you share, it has really helped with my finances as well as my confidence 💕
I just started watching your videos and love your "pared down" concept of fashion and comfort being a priority! Now I want to go through my closet and get rid of at least 75% of what I haven't touched or worn in years and stick to quality basics. By the way, you'd look great in ANYTHING! Most of us have challenges and your tips are very helpful.
Your wardrobe is exactly the one I was picturing for myself since I started minimalism. I love it, we look 100x more fashionable with this type of out of time quality pieces than we would with any designed, printed, fancy cheap pieces of clothes whatsoever. It depends on your style though, but I used to compulsively buy all sorts of designs Colors and shape when really I’m just always in my marinière and dark thick jeans. I never like to wear my cheap items in the end which is a waste. I’m now getting rid of all those patchwork clothes I never wear, the pinky glittery nails and just focus on the pieces I really love and neutral colours they’re the best ♡
I love your channel. I found your channel yesterday and subscribed. I love your style and I feel that I have finally found someone I can relate too. This autumn I have thrown out all the items I don't wear and I was surprised to find that nearly all the clothes that remained were navy, light grey, white, off white and a few black items. And everything that went to charity was bright and colourful. So now I think I am on the road to understanding my own style but I still need encouragement not to go back to my old ways of wasting money on clothes I'm not going to wear.
im the same, i really prefer all the boring/neutral/classic pieces at this point in my life. i see alot of nice things around that totally catch my eye but i just know ill get bored of them too soon and i will not like wearing them and they will just stay in the closet. so cheers to white light and dark grey navy blue and black simple sweaters and black grey and dark blue washed out/destroyed jeans. and totally simple and elegant booties.
Thanks to you I've started thinking of a seasonless wardrobe. I live in south central Texas, so I especially like this idea as we really only have two seasons and it rarely snows here. Cold is 55 degrees F. Summer hot is high 90s & low 100 degrees F.
Just stumbled across this video and chuckled a bit to myself. I think my closet and yours are very similar... this is actually what my basic wardore looks like except I don't own any dresses or skirts. My color palette consists of black, grey, white, blue, khaki/beige, army green... I thought something bold and interesting like leopard print would just be a great addition. Really awesome video!
I think &Other Stories is the best store to look for silk shirts! They have very good quality but not too expensive. I havet really seen any silk blouses in second hand stores, or they are always kinda out of style and not very classic pieces. Btw I love that you post so much more now 💕
this video got me hooked; just subscribed! i really appreciate seeing a style that's got more of a classic unisex vibe that's still flattering for women, which suits me better than a lot of ultra-femme looks out there. i'm also a college student so comfort and practicality are SO important to how i dress, but i still want to look put together. thanks so much for this helpful series!
This sounds like a great series. I definitely enjoyed this first one. I have a somewhat different style than you in that I love to wear dresses and skirts but I really like your style as well! I find that I can apply your videos easily to my own style. I also greatly value comfort!
Love your aesthetic! You have such a beautiful, well curated, and sustainable wardrobe. I can sit and listen to you all day! Your black dress....can be worn as a tunic over jeans. You might even belt it...or not. A long necklace....hint hint....that drops to the middle of that dress/tunic...perhaps a statement pendant/charms? I think you would get more use out of that beautiful black dress worn more as a tunic

I absolutely love your content, and your style! You were my inspiration for a capsule wardrobe... it all started around the same time I just had my daughter. I was in like a style limbo....and really liking your style I tried to incorporate that into mine. I wasn't feeling comfortable with the clothes I was wearing...then I remembered that almost all the time you make a video like this you say to adapt it into your own style. Well I discovered that my own style is what I would describe as feminine Bohemian rocker...your advice still works in my wardrobe!! So thank you so much!

I like the 100% cotton t shirts from Comfort Colors found on Amazon. I wear the ladies, but a I also enjoy the men’s! I buy an oversized men’s long sleeve T to sleep in!
Tommy Hilfiger makes a great white t-shirt that is thicker and not see-through. I’ve been buying them for many years. They come in other colors as well. They are great for winter months because they are heavier.
Hi, came to see you upon the recommendation of Justice Leconte. Your style is probably the total opposite of mine, I am very feminine and love dresses and skirts. However I do appreciate your blog and that you say you have to be true to your style. Nice to watch it.
Hello, thank you for all yours videos, I really love your style is so simple but classy very easy to wear. this basic wardrobe is nice and so usefull. Your work is great!
I know you visit the UK so if you visit a Marks and Spencer store (you will definitely find more than one in London) you can get quality white T shirts that are not see through. I have two myself.
I have Just bought the book and can’t wait start reading it!! Your approach towards life and decluttering is inspiring me a lot and let me tell you that since I have started to organize my life in the same way everything is changing very positively!!!! As an Italian , I am also a Huge fan of hygge ☺️😍
I love your style ! I think I have almost everything you mention in this video, I don't wear dresses or skirts I'll wear a dress to a wedding but that's it, and I have two pairs of dress shoes in black suede, looking forward to your next video
This series is great, I know that I need help with my basic wardrobe. Am a Print lover & fashion designer so my wardrobe is full & colourful but I still struggle everyday to get something to wear, (something that my husband cannot understand at all)🤷🏼♂️. Thanks for the tips.
I'm slowly building my effortless wardrobe clothes. When I need ideas, I watch your videos over and over. Also looking into buying some pieces from everlane. Can't wait for the next video.
Hey Signe! Love your channel, thanks for all the tips you share! Try the Muji brand for non-see through white tees. They're cheap and a nice, thick quality. You can wear a yellow bra under, and it won't show! Even probably red, as it somehow blends into white skin tones and doesn't show under white most tops...
I love your photo shop overview. I recently added “a change” to my basic tees collection. I bought a camo, black & grey v neck with coker necklines. In search of a white & 🤣that’s it! I like wrapping my denim button down around the waist of my knit LBD - I wear slip on sneakers or slides with it. I ❤️ plain skinny jeans & distressed.
Brilliant, thank you for this. I was feeling a little lost with clothing and I tend to buy too much or lots of something I like and then never wear them all! It is so nice to listen to someone make perfect sense. I would like to ask one question, do have separate work clothing to your clothes you wear when your not working?
I really enjoyed this video! I have always loved gray! Recently I have been decluttering and redefining my style. I just found some jeans that fit well, and I have been ordering a few T's and tops online. I need to simplify a lot of areas. Love your ideas. I look forward to watching more of your videos. thank you!
Thank you yes this is all very helpful. I just did mor research on some of the basic items and quality to replace in my wardrobe as soon as I wear out the cheap stuff…which shouldn’t be long 😝😂
Love this video. Again very helpfull! I started my capsule 1.5 years ago, but im still looking for good quality basics as you said. Especially t shirts. I love a good v neck shirt that is a lighter fabric. I always bought them at h&m cause they are exactly what I look for but the don't even last one season cause the quality is so bad. Tried other brands, but never found what I looked for so if you know a brand that has good ones, i would love to hear your recommendations!
@@mariasmith2198its the other way around too, just because you see someone wear black bra with white shirt that doesnt mean all parisian do the same. What are you trying to proof there? 🤣
What a great video. I love the logic behind each piece. Since moving back to Prague 2 months ago, I only have a small/capsule wardrobe wanna be and I love each piece, although I need to update it for autumn/winter now :P Agree with nude bras!
Do you have any tips on photographing your clothes? Your wardrobe sheets always look so clean! Whenever I try to take photos of flat-lays or clothing hung up, I always find it hard to get the lighting and color balance to look right. Is there a better way than having a designated/professional light to help with the lighting and then adjusting the color balance/levels/etc. in post?
Nude bra is on my shopping list, haha! Thanks to all, can't believe I haven't thought of this
U
Use Lessy
Yes! I think it's necessary. I narrowed my bras down to around 8. ALL of them are multi-way wear bras.
Try a red bra instead of nude. I was told by a bra fitter that red surprisingly shows thru even less than nude.
Use Less I was going to recommend this as a bra specialist, I'm glad others beat me to it lol

Are you a minimalist? I'd love to hear what you think the busty women like us. Also I think button downs are about impossible for us.
it also depends on the shape of your face, I have round and crewneck is perfect for me
Fashion Diva I have triangle shape, round face, B cup and small neck so crew-necks, roll-necks and sweaters make me look fat. I'd rather wear v-necks, lose necks and cardigans to look slimmer.

What a great video. I love the logic behind each piece. Since moving back to Prague 2 months ago, I only have a small/capsule wardrobe wanna be and I love each piece, although I need to update it for autumn/winter now :P Agree with nude bras!
I would love to see a fitted blazer made of various color denims. Like the designer Ralph Lauren..
One of the only fashion bloggers I listen to!!! ;)
Hi from LA! Can't wait to see more from this series!!
Do you have any tips on photographing your clothes? Your wardrobe sheets always look so clean! Whenever I try to take photos of flat-lays or clothing hung up, I always find it hard to get the lighting and color balance to look right. Is there a better way than having a designated/professional light to help with the lighting and then adjusting the color balance/levels/etc. in post?
