--> More than player changes (though some are warranted), tactical changes are needed. Teams have learned to let the CBs pass between themselves, then stiffle the pass into midfield. We need to take advantage of our speed in more direct ways. --> Trusty has got to be regretting his move if he can't get past Scales.
The slow midfield, with the constant passing backwards, was a major problem. It gave Kyogo no service. Hopefully the manager makes the changes you suggest, especially Scales being replaced by Trusty.
Happy New year Paul your analysis is brilliant and I for one really appreciate your hard work and look forward to every broadcast you make. We never showed up at Ibrox but the Bhoys are humans and are under huge pressure in the cauldron of hate. Let's get back to winning ways and respect all our Celtic family.
Kyogo’s offside goal was the only time we tried a long ball to him instead of trying the madness of tippy tappy mince through their block. It (nearly) worked and gave them a fright. Instead of trying it again, we subbed Kyogo with Idah who kept coming short and losing the ball.
Absolutely spot on .. the first time in the game Kyogo got proper service and showed what he can do he was subbed shortly afterwards. Totally baffling decision.
I'm starting to think we're not the team we think we are.The finishing is horrible. Most signings don't live up to the expectations.Don't show up for the big games. When tested, the cracks are noticeable. 😢🍀
Kyogo is entirely dependent on service in his current role. If the others don't play how can he be expected to bail them out. All goals are dependent on chance creation and if he isn't getting the ball he can't deliver.
Thanks Paul, great analysis. I agree the midfield is the problem and needs to be changed and I would suggest moving to 4-4-2 as we constantly get overrun, allowing the opposition to freely run at our defence. However nobody played well but this performance is not a one off as we have lost 6 goals in 2 games. BR needs to act now before we give away more points ! Hail Hail
Anybody in Scales position would've had a bad game, watching every player in front of him give the ball away, and often without pressure. No wonder he was nervous, probably terrified to pass the ball to anybody.
Been hearing this for a while that the idea of winning while playing badly is the sign of a good team... complacency creeps in then it becomes a problem ..and here we are ...I see a 1/1. draw today ...then the pressure will really start to ramp up to perform..but in the end wil win the league. ..🍀🍀🍀
I absolutely agree with u on Scales, sadly however one sizeable difference between Ange and BR is Ange doesnt have favourites, so while I agree with u I am not at all convinced BR wont play Scales
I expect nothing less than a top performance, strong response after that on Thursday. The fans deserve it after having to watch whatever you want to call that on Thursday. My Celtic starting XI v St Mirren: Schmeichel AJ CCV Trusty Valle CalMac McCowan Engles Maeda Kyogo Kuhn 🍀
Good point you make about trusty I also think he deserves to be in before scales only vickers gets pass marks for old firm game brendan Rodgers has also got to be questioned with the old firm result
The flaw in this thinking is the idea that players who didn't play against Rangers are better than the ones who Brendan deemed to be his strongest starters.
a few just waiting the chance to have a go at Liam Scales as we expected , agree he was off form. However I've seen CCV make a few howlers like passing the ball into hiis own net In Europe which probably cost us three points against Brugge when under no pressure whatsoever. He was no better or worse than the rest of the Hoops all like rabbits in headlights.
meant to add, surprised ur the first I have heard be critical of the manager's treatment toward Trusty , I would go further I thought the way he through him under the bus was disgraceful, sure he wasnt playing well in the cup final but he wasnt exactly the only one and to single him out in the manner in which he did was diabolical
Short memory. Scales started last season holding the defense together when CCV was out. You keep saying that every player had an off day but pile on to Scales. All three goals were defensive errors. I know Scalrs started it but there should be 16 scape goats not 1
I don't think it's specificlay about Scales. The defence has been so solid with Trusty and Ccv yet Rodgers seems determined to get Scales in. Why pay 6 million for a defender who is quick and big and not play him instead of Scales, who's passing is criminal all the time ?
It wasn't just his defending that was terrible - his passing was dire too. He had an all round footballing disaster class. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he was carrying, like the others, a virus or remnants of one
would like to see Maeda given a decent rest with bigger games than this coming up. last few games (particularly against them) he has lost his speed and energy. maeda without pace would be a very poor football player and he looks a bit like that just now.
How can Kyogo possibly 'perform' when he doesn't get proper service,? Kuhn's one of the biggest culprits in that regard but hes far from being the only one. If we get the likes of Tierney and Jota back I'm sure the wee man will 'perform' all right .. 😁
Sick of people using Kyogo going about 6 games without a goal saying he isn't getting service whilst the likes of Meada, Khun, Engles & others can score from open play. We call him a hunskelpers due to scoring 8 goals whilst 4 was in 2 games. Scored against them in 6 games in 17 apps. In Rodgers spell he scores a goal every 180 mins, that is a fact. We've got a striker that looks like he will score 1/4 games & Idah was signed due to fans loving him scoring 2 goals against them, that is the reason and nothing else. If he scored the other 2 goals against Hibs then he would have got a thanks for your service. It's baffling how we are 11 clear at the top with 2 strikers scoring under 15 goals between them and we are half way through the season.
@@liammckeown9167Aye, Engles has been really banging them in from open play, hasn't he .. ?🙄. Kuhn has been great this season but he's a bit selfish and often goes on his own when he should release the ball to Kyogo in a better position. And Maeda is just Maeda .. totally unpredictable.. though he could certainly be used as our third striker if we get a quality winger to replace Palma. Rodgers has said he wants goals from all over the team and Kyogo's role is not the same as under Ange. Kyogo hasn't changed the system has.
@gezobel That's what I said to my mate. Maeda as a striker and a better winger. I know Engles has only scored 1 or 2 from open play but I'm just meaning in general like of Johnsone has even scored 2 or 3 from open play. He's been here 4 season, I personally think that you get the best or 2 or 3 seasons after that they go stale. He ain't going to get better and all of a sudden 32 or so bang 30 goals a season. I love Kyogo and he's a great but I don't think he'll get any better. We want to keep players for 4+ seasons a 20/21 season will happen again
The individual performances were awful against the Rangers as well documented but I wonder if it doesn’t go deeper in that the model has been sussed and no longer fit for purpose. It was obvious in the cup final that Clément had it figured but that alarm bell wasnt heeded. Apart from the constant passing between the centre backs, the wingers hugging the touchline and the midfield with no forward ball available go across the pitch the trap is sprung and wére facing 3 on 2 or worse. Happened constantly at IBROX.
The same happened with gerrard and Lennon in cup final we stole 1 nil.. Lennon learned nothing from it and cost us 10 following season. Our style of play seriously needs to change cause teams have latched on to our slow tempo
I am happy enough with that team but tbh you could change 9 from Thursday. Seems crazy to say but the team are under pressure to deliver tomorrow. I look through and just ask: How many over the last six weeks have been delivering consistently? C’mon bhoys and finally get our 2025 underway.
Great analysis Paul, couldn't agree more! The midfield was so poor giving no protection to the back 4 allowing them to run at our back 4. It was 5 against 3 and again the midfield created few if any good chances in the first half. However if Kyogo had taken 1 of his 2 chances in first 6 mins! It would have been a different. We have now lost 6 goals in 2 games against them. BR needs to change players or system or both. Doing nothing doesn't work. Hail Hail
Would take McGregor out of the team, always protected by the fan base but he was especially poor on Thursday, 32 in the summer, played a lot of football and it’s clear he’s lost a yard of pace, constantly lost the individual midfield battles, would like to see us invest in a 6 this window, if not try Bernardo there for a run of games
I wonder if illness has been a big contribution to just how bad we have been? What would you make of Rodgers sending out the exact same eleven that played at Ibrox? It is not a thing you would rule out , from him . 😅H H 🍀 🍀
Sorry calmac should be used like Modric is at real as he doesn't have the legs anymore to boss the middle just sit on him and he is missing in the game defence are lokking to pass to him and he keeps pointing to them to pass it back cant move away from his marker to create space for defence to go forward the ball just blocking them to move into the space and his marker is also in that space so they pass it sideways or back bring him on at the hour mark calmac and hatate couldn't tackle afish supper bernardo needs a tackler with him midfield cant do it on his own would like to see bernardo, mccallum and engels as that is the future of the midfield
We need to get back to basics fist haif of the season we where blown teams away we need quick passes going forward no side to side play with intent and show why we're the best team in Scotland H H 🍀
!McGregor will captain the team for sure! - On what recent evidence??? McGregor slows the team down with his backwards tippy trappy passing with he defence putting them under pressure on the ball for a player of his experience he should be calm under pressure and be more brave getting the ball forward and quickly. He acts like a rabbit in the headlights sometimes when faced with an oncoming challenge. Against St Johnston we got the ball forward quickly at every opportunity and almost zero attacks against us because McGregor wasn't playing. He should be dropped for the game tomorrow.
There is zero loyalty from the modern fan looking for Scapegoats, especially homegrown ones. BR was out thought, it was only CCV great footwork that he was not caught on the ball and most of his passes are only safe ones. Hatate and Scales were trying the break through pass, looked worse becasue the lack of movement and bravery from the the rest of the team. The substitutions were very predictable and help them as kyogo was starting to get on to adventurous passes. Scales and Hatate gave the ball away a lot but they were not the only ones
I don’t know what you expect, I’m only passing comment on a bad performance. Scales and Hatate did not play well, there is no changing that fact. In terms of loyalty, I’ll be in the stadium today cheering them on like I am every single week.
Analyse it all you want. Eleven players with their hearts in it and a degree of skill and passion will win all day long. Gutless tarts achieve feck all. As we saw on Thursday.
I wouldn't put idah on he's a waist of money couldn't get a game for Norwich and we paid 9million for him kyoko all🎉and day long give him the service and he will score goals hh
Spot on ... I wasn't a huge O'Riley fan but at least he knew when to slip Kyogo through. Abada and Jota also gave him proper service. Tbf, another part of the problem is Brendan expects Kyogo to help defend corners and set-pieces .. which he does well, incidentally .. but he is therefore unavailable up front for the sudden counter attack. Rodgers prefers all this tippy-tappy stuff from the back getting nowhere which baffles me, tbh.
Who is scouting the defenders we have signed, not 1 of them good enough and we desperately need a new 1st choice no6 to free up Calmac as we have been found out
Kyogo got one ball over the top which stops the high press by the way, he slots it away although offside, what do we do next sub him keep ,2/3/4 others in pick any, and start tippy Tappy shite again and being rangers in to us this. creating pressure IE scales Taylor to mention 2 , where the fxxxx are the elite coaches and manager it's fxxxxx obvious my 14 grandson seen it and he's a goalkeeper ,thick
That decision along with moving taylor into midfield in the second half exposing scales even more and giving Cerny the whole right wing to himself beggers the question is Rodgers as good as some fans think.
@jackjones1249 the answers eat for me no, Rodgers and his elite coaching staff learned nothing from the cup final ,cerny rangers about the park as if he was maradonna, the song for most of the the rangers players should have been in in my own in no marking nothing , no closing down no angling their forwards so our keeper knew were their shot is going IE the first goal , the worst performance I have seen from any Celtic side at Ibrox and I have seen some DROSS at 71
@jackjones1249 I have already broached that very topic on various sites 11 minutes into the game, SFA 1 credable league 17 points in Jan, 2 Celtic board no interest in league, attendances , merchandise, bars, 3 advertisers i appreciate its far fetched, if Celtic go out and smash their next opponents as we were playing severe questions must be asked
Cal needs dropped, slowing game own too much,Kyogo should be out not been at it all season, not so sure Idah is much better thou.So disappointed against them,we were clueless .
For as long as chronic Greg Taylor continues to steal a wage and a starting position at our club, then no matter who you play at LCB (be it Scales or Trusty), our backline will continue to be pulled out of shape and not function anywhere near the level it should, due to the pressure the LCB is under in having to cover two postions at one - all due to the ridiculous nature of Taylor's excessive inversion. His channel is constantly left overexposed and due to his defensive ineptitudes as a whole, but especially his absolutely abysmal recovery, lack of pace and tactical and positional awareness as a left-back. This is Taylor’s 7th season in the pro game playing LB and he is still nowhere near accomplished in his primary responsibility...which is to defend!! As the data suggests, he is regularly the worst outfield player in our team in terms of efficiency and productivity. If our egoic, stubborn and one-dimentional manager can't identify this blatant problem area and continues to play him ahead of Valle, then it proves just how clueless the guy is. Either that, Taylor has some sort of hold over him, as there is no other logical explanation to continually select such an error-ridden dud!
We need a new winger on the left, Maeda is not the answer and never will be, people have been complaining about Scales and Hatate a lot lately but Maeda has been even worse and never gets mentioned. Time to get a left back, centre mid and winger in this window hopefully
A win is the only thing acceptable, preferably convincing to show last week was a one off, for me - Schmeichel, AJ, CCV, Trusty and valle, calmac, Engels and bernardo, maeda kyogo and kuhn, i don't want to see Taylor and certainly not scales in a celtic jersey again.
Everyone was utter garbage but scales was like a blocked toilet pan. I would be happy if we paid Shamrock rovers to take him back. Utter shite 💩and our captain needs to get a grip or he can go way him.
Scales should not be at Celtic park guys rubbish one of worst Cdefenders ive witnessed ..he is not an accident waiting to happen , but always an accident to happen .
He's done much better than alot of fans would've thought but only by necessity. He's not Celtic level in general. Trusty and CCV should always be the partnership.
He was signed as a left back as far as I know. That's where he played the majority of games before he signed for Celtic. Then he got asked to play left centre back (presumably because of injuries) and did well initially. Some games he's been decent/good. Obviously the other day he stank the place out.
This is where Rodgers earns his massive salary. Get this team motivated and put the Ibrox game to bed. Scales and Hatate , alongside Taylor need benched. I’m looking for a reaction to the utter garbage we witnessed the other day. Mon the hoops✊🍀
Scales is being hung out to dry for one awful performance... Yet Hatate has been persistently dreadful for quite some time
--> More than player changes (though some are warranted), tactical changes are needed. Teams have learned to let the CBs pass between themselves, then stiffle the pass into midfield. We need to take advantage of our speed in more direct ways.

Idah lost the ball that led to the 2nd goal. I would go with Kyogo again and try get him some goals and confidence before europe starts again.

not that he is the only culprit...but are we seeing the end game on the horizon for the captain...?.
Hi Paul, Here's my starting 11 for tomorrow:
Schmeichel
Johnston, CCV, Trusty, Valle
Engels, McGregor, McCowan
Kuhn Kyogo. Maeda
😀😀😀🍀🍀🍀
I don't care who plays, but it might help if they attempt to shoot on goal.
That pause before Mccowan....., phew . agreed on all points Paul. we go again , and remember why were in the position we are . Champions

Thanks paul.that was a comprehensive show in a limited time.pretty confident we will win. Cheers from Melbourne.
I absolutely agree with u on Scales, sadly however one sizeable difference between Ange and BR is Ange doesnt have favourites, so while I agree with u I am not at all convinced BR wont play Scales
I expect nothing less than a top performance, strong response after that on Thursday.

More interesting team selection than usual tomorrow. Expecting wholesale changes.
We need some QUALITY signatures this window , cracks are there for all to expose
McGregor IMO still shows enough quality to merit his starting place
Its also a case of the rest arent any better and all were poor on thursday.
Great show Paul
Reo , taylor , scales , kyogo I expect to see on the bench just gna say it I wouldn’t be upset if calmac didn’t start either !!

Best commentary❤
Sorry Kyogo starts for me,and would start Yang than Maeda
Tbf to Kuhn I’d be hesitant to take on my full back too after taking an elbow to the face

Not sure what was happening in that game Looked a yard off it from the off🤦 but I bet Hibs give them a game tomorrow 💚🇮🇪☘
I think Hibs will beat them and get them back down from cloud 9😅
3 3 will do mate HH 💚🇮🇪☘😁@@John-j7e3z
I think Calmac needs to be rested and he is not a no 6. Put Engel and or Barnardo there Those 2 with with Luke played well against St Johnstone.
Analyse it all you want.
Eleven players with their hearts in it and a degree of skill and passion will win all day long.
Gutless tarts achieve feck all.
As we saw on Thursday.
I wish Forest was playing he's still a good player. Taylor wants to leave so we drop him. We should see our youth setup and try one or two players.
Get Johnny Kenny into the striker role, couldn't do any worse 🍀🍀
Schmeichel should kick the ball up the park instead of playing out from the back though that's going against BR's way of playing.
Kyogo for idah
hey fella,,do you ever get any of the selection right...

@@gezobelI agree...I hate the playing out from the back.... the keeper should kick the ball up the park and put pressure on the defenders.
Who is scouting the defenders we have signed, not 1 of them good enough and we desperately need a new 1st choice no6 to free up Calmac as we have been found out
Must keep valle
@jackjones1249 the answers eat for me no, Rodgers and his elite coaching staff learned nothing from the cup final ,cerny rangers about the park as if he was maradonna, the song for most of the the rangers players should have been in in my own in no marking nothing , no closing down no angling their forwards so our keeper knew were their shot is going IE the first goal , the worst performance I have seen from any Celtic side at Ibrox and I have seen some DROSS at 71
@@johnbarclay5964 Agreed, it was so inept you would have thought they had thrown the game.
@@jackjones1249nobody marked The whole game
That’s as weak a midfield as you could probably go with McGregor can’t play every game just cause he’s the captain
After the performance the other day changes are required scales Taylor hatate kyogo Johnstone benched & Ralston Valle trusty idah
Ralston?
What are you smoking?
@ryanc3687 in the second half at Ibrox Johnstone couldn't get to the Ball when it was passed to him looks like he's not fully over his injury
@@ryanc3687🤣🤣🤣
Need some fresh creative talent to add to the squad
To cocky and overconfident aqainst sevco
Idah is never worth 9 mill Celtic have been shafted big time
We need a new winger on the left, Maeda is not the answer and never will be, people have been complaining about Scales and Hatate a lot lately but Maeda has been even worse and never gets mentioned. Time to get a left back, centre mid and winger in this window hopefully
Scales and Taylor should not start hh
No even gonnae watch this video and tell you it better be Hatate
A win is the only thing acceptable, preferably convincing to show last week was a one off, for me - Schmeichel, AJ, CCV, Trusty and valle, calmac, Engels and bernardo, maeda kyogo and kuhn, i don't want to see Taylor and certainly not scales in a celtic jersey again.
What's with all these poxy adverts get a grip
Wow your frustrated easy mate
Kasper
AJ ccv trust KT
Cal Luke engles
Maeda khun
Soairse noonan
We were honking against sevco but some of the comments from reactionary cry babies are embarrassing.
will not be watching, says it all
IDAH last chance 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Waste of money
Everyone was utter garbage but scales was like a blocked toilet pan. I would be happy if we paid Shamrock rovers to take him back. Utter shite 💩and our captain needs to get a grip or he can go way him.
Bernado, Hatate and Scales should be dropped, Engles, Mccowan and Trusty should start Mon The Hoops HH 💚
Why should McCowan start?
He sells the third goal every bit as much as Scales sold the first.
Woukd you have said that last week? Be honest
I don't want him to play but fuck me calm down he's no that bad he should be a back up option for us but.
He was signed as a left back as far as I know. That's where he played the majority of games before he signed for Celtic. Then he got asked to play left centre back (presumably because of injuries) and did well initially. Some games he's been decent/good. Obviously the other day he stank the place out.
Couldn't agree more
If scales and Taylor are in that team tomorrow questions need asking of Brendan.
This is where Rodgers earns his massive salary. Get this team motivated and put the Ibrox game to bed. Scales and Hatate , alongside Taylor need benched. I’m looking for a reaction to the utter garbage we witnessed the other day. Mon the hoops✊🍀
Whole team apart from CCV who played on Thursday needs to be changed
I’ll second that lineup, changes are defo needed and we need another striker to provided competition for Kyogo and Idah 😘💚🤍💚🤍🫶
Scales and Taylor should not start hh
