BTB, it's very commendable that a self-sufficient, strategic, smart person such as yourself makes it a mission to share your valuable learned knowledge in such a sincere genuine manner. Keep up the great work BTB.
Interesting to see that excluding your housing, travel and gadget costs, health insurance premiums make up nearly 50% of your spending. Gotta love USA healthcare!
Kaniela6759 Best Standard of care. I am Canadian and would pay out of pocket to come to the States if I needed treatment. Universal Healthcare sucks 👎🏻
Note! HSA funds cannot be used for insurance premiums except in extenuating circumstances involving job loss, long term care premiums and cobra. So unless you are in those situations, you cannot use it. I didn't say so in the video. Sorry!
My husband and i spend over $100 per week on groceries, paper goods and drugstore items. We live in NYC. So, I don't understand how you can spend so little per month. No, we are not going to stop shampooing our hair or take showers, or unplugging appliances. 😀
He also doesnt go to the gym, wich means he doesnt eat much. Not hard to spend that little when you are not spending energy exercising. I spend around 400 but I buy supplements, I eat A LOT and I buy high quality protein foods like tofu and seitan.
I have almost everything in my house unplugged (except the fridge, night lights and my cellphone chargers) I plug the TV and microwave only when I'm using it. This saves so much on electric alone. I mostly watch Netflix, Hulu, and TH-cam on my phone.
Please note that IRS rule dictates that HSA funds can not be used for health insurance premium unless it is for long term care insurnace, health care continuation coverage (COBRA), health insurance while on unemployment compensation, and medicare coverage for 65 years or older. Please be more specific in the video how you are using HSA for health insurance premium in your situation. Thanks
There was a time, a simpler time, when I had to buy a whole CD to listen to maybe 2 songs I really liked. Or wait until it plays on the radio and record on K7.
If your taxable income is ~ $40K/yr or less, you get a insurance marketplace subsidy. I just checked the marketplace here in Pennsylvania. With subsidy, it's only $110/mo
Would love to see a breakdown of the foods you buy from the grocery store for a month. Outside of housing/transportation/healthcare, food (groceries/restaurants) is one of the biggest budget categories that many people overspend in and need help with reigning in (myself included!).
Generally, you cannot treat insurance premiums as qualified medical expenses under HSA guidelines unless the premiums are for: a. Long-term care insurance, subject to IRS mandated limits based on age and adjusted annually (see IRS Publication 502: Long-Term Care). b. Healthcare continuation coverage (such as coverage under COBRA - see IRS Publication 502: COBRA Premium Assistance. c. Healthcare coverage while receiving unemployment compensation under federal or state law. d. Medicare and other healthcare coverage if you are 65 or older (other than premiums for a Medicare supplemental policy, such as Medigap). For (b) and (c) above, your HSA can be used for your spouse or a dependent meeting the requirement for that type of coverage. For (d) above, if you, the account beneficiary, are not 65 years of age or older, Medicare premiums for coverage of your spouse or a dependent (who is 65 or older) generally are not considered a qualified medical expenses.
Three questions: 1) You said you don't take bath that often. Is that working well for you? 2) Have you thought about generating your own power like Mr. Money Moustache solar panel project? 3) Which scooter do you have. How much it costed you and which insurance you are going with for the scooter?
Great job BTB! Cell phone is $0 (my job pays it) Gas is $0 (my job pays it) I have no health insurance, but I pay $158 a month ($58 goes to uncle Sam for not having insurance). My boyfriend pays for cable ( I have no idea how much he pays). $22 monthly fee for Netflix . Food bill for 3 people is $500 a month. Utilities $200. My full coverage car insurance is $58 a month. Car maintenance is $100 a month Trash water and sewer is $40
For anyone interested, here are the expenses of 1500$ per month as a family of four (assuming you are frugal like beatthebush): Grocery & Household: 400 Eat out & Fun: 100 Utilities (electricity + trash + water + cell + internet): 150 Car: 100 Healthcare: 400 Vacation: 100 Misc. (clothes, gadgets, toys): 250
The lowest price internet plan here in Alaska is $65/month with max 75 Mbps download and max 5 Mbps upload as advertised, and the speed will be reduced to almost 0 after 50 GB. And in reality you will only get 5 to 10 Mbps download with this cheapest plan. Crazy.
I've seen that show, some of their methods are a bit too extreme for me. You have to do a proper cost benefit analysis on each saving method to not spend an hour saving a few cents. Well, sometimes, it's obvious.
Thanks for answering questions in the comments. I compared this video with the one you made in Jan of 2017. Can you tell us how you were able to lower your gas bill by $100 (150 vs 50), restaurant expense by $160 (200 vs 40), grocery bill by $100 (200 vs 100) and eliminate the 'others' category of $250' (250 vs 0) in 1.5 years?
Gasoline? Retire and don't go to work. Restaurant? Have a distaste for outside food. Groceries? Look at my $2/meal videos. Others is broken out in more detail where I added internet and other categories I didn't before.
Do you negotiate your internet bill annually? Would love to see videos of your scooter adventures! What do you do with the cardboard that comes with your electronics if your trash is the minimal option?
You should really head out to the Library more often they offer all the movies/games you can rent for free. Also, they offer resources like Lynda.com and Amazon Kindle titles. They even provide the Power Usage meter for rent.
I heard about Freedompop service. Do you get good signal inside your house? I don't have land line too but ATT's signal got so bad inside my house. I fought with ATT so bad in the past and finally they got me microcell to strength signal. I figured out ATT wants people pay more to use landline inside offices and homes.
Subscription services are the devil’s play thing for your finances, so easy to sign up to and forget individually but they soon mount up. I looked at mine last year and cut everything but my phone and only kept that because I’ve had it for years so it’s relatively cheap and it’s unlimited. I really need to take the time to look at what my appliances are using, I’ve been putting it off as the government are installing smart meters for free here soon but given the horror stories I’ve read I’m probably going to give that a swerve. Driving cost me pennies as I live in London so a car is a waste of time, my motorbike costs me
I think that's a thing... sometimes amazon packages arrive and you're like.. what da heck!? You open it and realized you bought it that one late evening after having a few drinks.
BeatTheBush They know what they’re doing alright. My vice is survival equipment and I’ve had it all in order for a long time but I still end up with useless survival gadgets turning up. I cancelled my Amazon sub to put me off ordering by having to pay delivery, didn’t work. Those damned recommendations! They’re like a window to my soul and the door to my wallet if I’m not on the ball.
Groceries only $120, either you do dumpster diving or you fast frequently and consume lots of vegetables and very little meat is what I thought but it may be due to our consumer price difference.
You got a fantastic water-sewer price....can't get it under $100. in Dallas areas. Water runs higher than electricity now...used to be water was 1/3 the price of electric...not anymore.
Generally, there is a base price you cannot really change depending on where you live. So I'm not too responsible for that. Using 2-3x the water will only increase it by a few dollars.
Soundcloud is good for music streaming. Some artists only allow you to listen to 30 seconds of a track if you dont have a paid Soundcloud subscription. But other than that there are a lot of great lesser known artists that you can listen to for free because there are ads to occasionally listen to.
In nyc, my tolls per day are ~$13/day. So plus gas its about $15-$19. Whitestone/Throgs Neck bridge. I pay for tolls twice a day... sometimes 3 times a day if im running late.
Its a combination of bridges and roads. Bridge Tolls (2) per day = $~11 Sometimes if I'm running late, (1) road toll = $1.75 I wasn't around last time you were in NY. Would you come back?
Beatthebush you can find 5 dollars a month. If you go search on eBay unlimited 4g for 5 dollars a month for Verizon on eBay. You have to buy device and you can make a review of it. 5 dollars a month for unlimited 4g internet
Would you ever upgrade form a Boxter to a Cayman S? (Even if the Boxer doesnt break). They're pretty cheap (just look them up and see) and would be a significant upgrade in terms of style and ride quality.
is a free service from freedompop, you get like 200 mb of data for free and some message and minutes, but is tricky as if not careful they will charge for other things like voicemail and stuff like that, but after removing all those services you get it for free,
No work phone. Freedompop vid here: th-cam.com/video/W7CKRKiZx4I/w-d-xo.html I get 1 Gb of data 500 msg 500 mins so something. If you get it now though, they made the plan not as good.
USA really needs to sort its health care out. 310USD a month is just insane! I had to pop into hospital via ambulance twice and it roughly cost me 40usd a visit which included treatment. With how low it is, I made another acoount where I only put 60$ a fortnight into for all things insurance related like pet, health, travel, contents etc. But excluding car and home. What I like about that is that you aren't bound by policies to stop you getting the money you are giving other companies, in long term it's readily available and you can see how it racks up. Don't know what you'll do about the cost of healthcare
I like your content as I'm a fellow engineer seeking financial freedom, but; Why do you advertise Audible if you are warning about subscription services?
Could you go car free? You mentioned a BART station. My friends in SF have a low rate with Uber for a subscription plan and it costs less than keeping a car. You could probably keep the scooter to get to public transit.
Great video again! Thx 👍 As for me I’m in France, currently...spending some money; it’s my FIRST TIME EVER traveling internationally, though. Interesting experience.
Wtf bruh never get a wife and kids family or else non of this will work anymore Diapers $300 a month Milk $300 a month Food $200 a month Clothes Etc etc etc etc etc
I think you mean the 'mains' insurance. No I do not because I can just dig the hole myself and fix the darn thing. It burst near the valve at the street before and I fixed it myself before.
Francis, great video. I need to do an updated spreadsheet of all my expenses especially since my source of income has changed drastically. I wished I only spent $120 a month for groceries! I definitely will be stocking up on groceries and freezing half of them in advance so I don't waste it.
you can grow sprouts in a jar, you can usually find a jar in a health food store. It will make a nice supply of sprouts to put on a few sandwiches or on a salad, etc. It's fun to grow them and VERY easy and fast!
Your list looks similar to mine wiuth the exception of water and trash. My house has a well so water is free and I incinerate my trash. My next step is toi install solar on my house to get rid of my elecric bill. My car is electric so no gasoline bill.
$310/month for health insurance seems crazy high! Why not drop it completely, and just focus on taking care of yourself, exercising, and eating right (all of which you seem to be already doing)? Once in a while, when truly necessary, you can then go to the doctor and pay a la carte.
BeatTheBush -- My understanding is the mandate for ObamaCare has been REPEALED. So I don't think health insurance IS required by law, as of 6 months ago or so.
Awesome video! Practical tips like this are so hard to find and valuable. I have a family, i wonder if you know of a place i could get the same real world info for someone who is married and has a family? You car insurance is astoundingly low, what carrier is it, what are your liability limits, and what is your deductable? Do you have a video on car insurance? On your gas / electric, do you use no heat or a/c? gas or electric clothes dryer? Gas or electric stove? About how many square feet of living area? Do you have a video on minimizing this? Do you have a food shopping video? I think for a single person in the bay area a realistic frugal budget is about $2000 a month plus rent plus health and dental insurance, including ALL SPENDING. Do you think you could consistently beat that ? If so make a vidoe on it. I have yet to see anyone consistently give data that shows they actually live on less than that, i am not talking about living in a van or tent or taking any charity or governement assisstance.
You pay your health insurance premium out of an HSA?? That's not allowed unless its under COBRA or the plan is marked "HSA-eligible"! www.irs.gov/publications/p969#en_US_2017_publink1000204086 And how did you get $310/month? My Covered California Blue Shield Minimum coverage PPO is $337 month, and I'm pretty sure you're slightly equal or older than me.
Random question, what are the pros of writing of equipment as an expense and how would I do that? Would have to open up an LLC? Great videos been watching your channel for a while now!
Ahh, doing so allows you to reduce profits or it can be written off in other ways that depreciates over time. There are negatives because you cannot sell the item or else you have to go back and not take the deduction anymore.
Hello bush! Great videos! Who is your healthcare provider? Any suggestions for a good plan for a descent price? Im looking for myself but have not comitted yet. Thanks
Man! my life is scared at me now that I am looking at your budget :-). Jokes apart, if you can live such a simple frugal life, you will never ever have problems adjusting...ever. On the flip-side, you probably are missing out on experiences (you probably don't care or value much) but nonetheless are important to others. I guess it is all about compromisation. You win some and then you lose some.
Amazing! I pay almost 70€ a month for a cell phone, wifi, landline! 😬 Health insurance here, employer pays a bigger part. Very interesting! But whaaaat! Travel 110? You aren't talking about vacation or holidays! Oatmeal is the best for any meal and very healthy as well as very reasonable price. Keep it up! Your health insurance is a reap off! 🤗😇
$110 PER DAY. Oh yes... but then when you are paying for it as well through your employer. It's just you never see that part of the money and it feels like you didn't pay. Just the way of going self employed. =D
Could you possibly do a video on keeping a low food budget? Food is what always kills me! I usually always spend about $400ish a month for two people. *yikes I know* HALLLLP!
I think the best way is by example in a per meal basis. Here is a $3 example here: th-cam.com/video/shBQ9UWRQxY/w-d-xo.html. $3 x 2 meals a day x 30 days = $180/month. Not just that, there are other low cost meals you can mix in of course.
Everyone always talks about the "rat race" but in my opinion, cutting down on unnecessary expenses is equally as important. Great video as always beatthebush
I’m guessing you don’t plan on having a family even in semi retirement? Do you have a video on the best investment websites to use like the pros/cons of using some of the available options?
Hey Fabiola, put some research into Mr Money Mustache / FI community. Index fund investing is the safest way to invest into the stock market. A lot of people love Vanguard. If you are starting with less OR don't want to put much time into it, I personally like Betterment even though they do take some small fees. Whatever you do read up on a lot of it before you start investing!!!
Honestly think the point here is to see how much you can do to help yourself and your life. Very much like mr Money mustache... Obv overtime it might be more costly to rely on your own capacity. But is it? Might be better to buy sometimes. Maybe. But it's a balance, right. You need to consider the real value of your costs. You want to live the life you want, the one you choose. That's #1.
Hey BTB... Ouch ! Health insurance is squeezing your budget ! Have you looked into the medical sharing programs (medishare, samaritan, etc) ? ....you could probably knock about another $130 off what you're now paying... They basically work just like the high deductible policies you used to be able to get before (un)affordable care act was passed.... only downside is that they don't cover pre-existing conditions.
How can u pay so little for car insurance? I barely drive yet GEICO charges $110/month! And that was cheapest could find. Have u heard of root car insurance? Would love a video bout it...
Beatthebush you make less 117k a year you are considering low income in San Francisco. You don’t have to work since you are considered are poor in San Francisco area
Amazing how you can keep such a low burn rate, absolutely inspiring. About housing, do you rent or own? Have plans on purchasing a home? (It isn't necessary to own a home imo but I wonder what your thoughts are)
I like how you put in all the things you DON'T spend money on. Some people's expenses are absolutely unnecessary.
=D I added that to draw attention to those that people would normally buy. =D
And to great effect. It's important.
BTB, it's very commendable that a self-sufficient, strategic, smart person such as yourself makes it a mission to share your valuable learned knowledge in such a sincere genuine manner. Keep up the great work BTB.
I respect this man. Looking forward to future videos
Thank you!
Just don't get a girlfriend. You have never seen an expense like it.
50% odds lol
It only work if you're a handyman. Wink wink
Dumb fucks with no kids. My family will replace you. Worth every penny.
01 01 you win the prize for the internet's least clever troll. Congrats.
Unless she works and helps out
At 8:04 the way you say "dollars" made my night :)
Perfect video for the situation I'm in right now.
XD
It's not about how much one makes, it's about how much one can SAVE !!!
Well... yes. Need to keep that burn rate low if you make more later.
DAVID Y One short life - enjoy it and buy songs movies and keep microwaves plugged in etc. this video is a little silly.
John the surfer ...yes, some of the points are a bit extreme. The other way to look at this is: spend what you have, don't go in debt if possible.
Interesting to see that excluding your housing, travel and gadget costs, health insurance premiums make up nearly 50% of your spending. Gotta love USA healthcare!
Michael Jay - Value Investing Yep it’s the best in the world......albeit expensive. Most medical research and development comes from the US.
Kaniela6759 Best Standard of care. I am Canadian and would pay out of pocket to come to the States if I needed treatment. Universal Healthcare sucks 👎🏻
I know it sucks but there isn't much I can do about it. This is full price without employer subsidy so it'll likely increase as I get older too.
Still hundreds less than I pay in the U.K. for me “free” healthcare :(
Supply/demand. Obviously not much supply in healthcare if price is too high.
Don't understand where you shop for groceries. I spend more in a week than you do in a month LOL. Make a video of how you buy groceries.
:D
Note! HSA funds cannot be used for insurance premiums except in extenuating circumstances involving job loss, long term care premiums and cobra. So unless you are in those situations, you cannot use it. I didn't say so in the video. Sorry!
Thanks. I was about to start looking into that.
I absolutely love how cheap you are!! So inspiring to see others proudly "ballin' on a budget" :-) #FrugalSquad
Selective cheapness. I spend heavily on certain things. Lol.
Only $140 for groceries ? Wow! I just paid $100 for a weeks worth grocery :(
$2 per meal x 2 meals a day x 30 days = $120. Fish is more expensive sometimes.
My husband and i spend over $100 per week on groceries, paper goods and drugstore items. We live in NYC. So, I don't understand how you can spend so little per month.
No, we are not going to stop shampooing our hair or take showers, or unplugging appliances. 😀
I know right? I have a budget of $350/mo for groceries and it's sometimes hard keeping to that. Dining out is another $125/mo for me.
He also doesnt go to the gym, wich means he doesnt eat much. Not hard to spend that little when you are not spending energy exercising. I spend around 400 but I buy supplements, I eat A LOT and I buy high quality protein foods like tofu and seitan.
If you eat over 100 dollars per week of food then you are DEFINITELY overweight.
I have almost everything in my house unplugged (except the fridge, night lights and my cellphone chargers) I plug the TV and microwave only when I'm using it. This saves so much on electric alone. I mostly watch Netflix, Hulu, and TH-cam on my phone.
Makes it easier if you get those wall sockets with a switch. =D
Thanks
Thanks for pointing this out! Noted.
I can't live without Spotify! I can't imagine going back to the hassle of purchasing or downloading each song I want to listen to...
Positive Investing thst is how they got u!
Yup. See what I mean. You're stuck paying for life now.
BeatTheBush that's not necessarily a bad thing - it's a service that I find value in!
Soundcloud is free
There was a time, a simpler time, when I had to buy a whole CD to listen to maybe 2 songs I really liked. Or wait until it plays on the radio and record on K7.
If your taxable income is ~ $40K/yr or less, you get a insurance marketplace subsidy. I just checked the marketplace here in Pennsylvania. With subsidy, it's only $110/mo
Very true. You can get some subsidies that way.
I pay for youtube ad-free, I watch alot of youtube of course, comes with cloud music.
Oh! I didn't know it comes with that. Nice!
Firefox with add blocker. Free with no adds.
That’s me too
Just use ad blocker lol

Yes, HSA requires medical expenses and you cannot use it on premiums.
Three questions: 1) You said you don't take bath that often. Is that working well for you? 2) Have you thought about generating your own power like Mr. Money Moustache solar panel project? 3) Which scooter do you have. How much it costed you and which insurance you are going with for the scooter?
1. Showers, not baths. 2. Yes, but 20 year ROI is too much. Might do it on smaller scale at first possibly. 3. A red non name brand.
Can you pls post the link or details about the scooter pls? Also tell more about scooter insurance.
I did a vlog on it here: th-cam.com/video/gLatTFKCpVI/w-d-xo.html
Great job BTB!
Cell phone is $0 (my job pays it)
Gas is $0 (my job pays it)
I have no health insurance, but I pay $158 a month ($58 goes to uncle Sam for not having insurance).
My boyfriend pays for cable ( I have no idea how much he pays).
$22 monthly fee for Netflix .
Food bill for 3 people is $500 a month.
Utilities $200.
My full coverage car insurance is $58 a month.
Car maintenance is $100 a month
Trash water and sewer is $40
For anyone interested, here are the expenses of 1500$ per month as a family of four (assuming you are frugal like beatthebush):
Grocery & Household: 400
Eat out & Fun: 100
Utilities (electricity + trash + water + cell + internet): 150
Car: 100
Healthcare: 400
Vacation: 100
Misc. (clothes, gadgets, toys): 250
I have one bill to the city. It’s like $17 for trash, about the same for water, then add $40 for sewage. It’s borderline highway robbery
Whilst watching, I felt like I was listening to myself... I like the way you think! :)
Please do a video on health insurance. Hsa vs traditional premiums.
My sister put her microwave on a power bar. The power bar sat beside the microwave. It made it so easy to turn on and off.
Power bar needs to handle the watts.

It is expensive to live in Canada. Car Insurance, Hydro, Gas are all about 3 times what you pay. Taxes are much higher too 😢
Wow... I think the snow must add to the cost.
In Manitoba with car insured under pleasure (1,300km/yr) with no accidents is $160.91/mth and its a 2010 mazda 3... Gotta love public insurance
Justin Rondeau Haha! Small World! I am in Manitoba too. $1700 a year for me 🤑
Crummy MPI... safety rating goes up, but then so does insurance rates, so somehow you still end up paying more!
MPI Charges me out the ass! Classic Manitoba
I would love your opinion on solar panels
Noted. Thanks!
@BeatTheBush when are we going to see you going around collecting bottles?
Thanks for answering questions in the comments. I compared this video with the one you made in Jan of 2017. Do you negotiate your internet bill annually? Would love to see videos of your scooter adventures! What do you do with the cardboard that comes with your electronics if your trash is the minimal option?
Yes. Cardboard is reused to ship old items out. Or if they are not usable, it gets into a recycling bin. Trash is the landfill bin.
Please do a video on the power consumption of various electric appliances in your home.
Try this video: th-cam.com/video/SS-5YkEfPb8/w-d-xo.html
Beat the Bush do you have the Amazon prime subscription? i didn't see it on your list.
Yes, I have a video how I get it for next to nothing.
Happy 4th BtB!! Just enough time to like and comment :)
Happy 4th! Thanks!

Only if I want to see more movies and play more games. I find I don't really want to spend time on those.
I'm a simple guy. I see a new BTB video and I click like.
Thank you for your click!

Where did you get the shirt
Groceries only $120, either you do dumpster diving or you fast frequently and consume lots of vegetables and very little meat is what I thought but it may be due to our consumer price difference.
I don't fast. I consume more and more veggies and less and less meat. Check out my $1/2/3 meal videos on how.
Amazing! Thank you for this video.
Thank you for watching!

In nyc, my tolls per day are ~$13/day. So plus gas its about $15-$19. Whitestone/Throgs Neck bridge. I pay for tolls twice a day... sometimes 3 times a day if im running late.
Wow... why .. multiple bridges? If a bridge is between you and your work place, it'll get expensive.
Its a combination of bridges and roads.
Bridge Tolls (2) per day = $~11
Sometimes if I'm running late, (1) road toll = $1.75
I wasn't around last time you were in NY. Would you come back?
BeatTheBush and the Verazano-Narrows Bridge is $17, collected when entering the borough of Staten Island. NYC Tolls are the worst
How long should i keep a car, Señor Vencer el Arbusto? Until it dies?
Roughly until the estimated cost to repair it in 1 year goes over half the car's value.
Beatthebush you can find 5 dollars a month. If you go search on eBay unlimited 4g for 5 dollars a month for Verizon on eBay. You have to buy device and you can make a review of it.
5 dollars a month for unlimited 4g internet
That looks great! But it also looks suspicious. I would have to do a lot more research than to see if you can buy it to believe it though.
Why don’t you take a chance?
Would you ever upgrade form a Boxter to a Cayman S? (Even if the Boxer doesnt break). They're pretty cheap (just look them up and see) and would be a significant upgrade in terms of style and ride quality.
Also instead of "regular" insurance have you ever looked into Direct Personal Care or Concierge Medicine? It might be a better option for you.
I average about $45/ month on pg&e. Only subscribed to amazon prime which has gone up $20
You can share it with someone in your household to halve the cost.
Can you please go in depth on how you pay $0.00 a month on your cell phone!
is a free service from freedompop, you get like 200 mb of data for free and some message and minutes, but is tricky as if not careful they will charge for other things like voicemail and stuff like that, but after removing all those services you get it for free,
Deoc oh okay thank you
He also has a work phone
No work phone. Freedompop vid here: th-cam.com/video/W7CKRKiZx4I/w-d-xo.html I get 1 Gb of data 500 msg 500 mins so something. If you get it now though, they made the plan not as good.
He has a video on it
USA really needs to sort its health care out.
Yup. That is what I pay and it's considered on the low side already. It ramps up as you age.
I like your content as I'm a fellow engineer seeking financial freedom, but;
Why do you advertise Audible if you are warning about subscription services?
Great tips!
=D
Working on cut done the phone bill.
=D It's a huge leap to do that free thing. A bit of adjusting.
Not sure if go for a free one. but need to cut down the bill for sure. I may jump ship first then ask my husband jump after all.
Could you go car free? You mentioned a BART station. My friends in SF have a low rate with Uber for a subscription plan and it costs less than keeping a car. You could probably keep the scooter to get to public transit.
Probably not since I am not in a dense enough neighborhood like SF.
Could you make a video on why you left your engineering job? Were you bored of the field?
Sure. That's an interesting one.
Great video again! Thx 👍 As for me I’m in France, currently...spending some money; it’s my FIRST TIME EVER traveling internationally, though. Interesting experience.
I love your channel! just subbed! I live in Brentwood. ☺
Thank you! Why do you live there?
@@BeatTheBush less expensive☺
Wtf bruh never get a wife and kids family or else non of this will work anymore
Diapers $300 a month
Milk $300 a month
Food $200 a month
Clothes
Etc etc etc etc etc
Can you do a video on what kind of tools you own?
Huh.. interest. I have so many but then it is also a bit sensitive to cover these items, will think about it.
How do u get free water pipe insurance I didn't even know that was a thing
I think you mean the 'mains' insurance. No I do not because I can just dig the hole myself and fix the darn thing. It burst near the valve at the street before and I fixed it myself before.
Francis, great video. I need to do an updated spreadsheet of all my expenses especially since my source of income has changed drastically. I wished I only spent $120 a month for groceries! I definitely will be stocking up on groceries and freezing half of them in advance so I don't waste it.
Freezing half? I'd pinpoint me to freezing 90% of it. Veggies, I just get fresh.
That is my weekly groceries and I only have one mouth to feed!
Try growing sprouts. Pennies a day and extremely healthy.
Thanks guys these were really good advice. I love sprouts I’ll grow it once i have my own home
you can grow sprouts in a jar, you can usually find a jar in a health food store.
Nice! That will make a really low burn rate but have up front costs.
$310/month for health insurance seems crazy high! Why not drop it completely, and just focus on taking care of yourself, exercising, and eating right (all of which you seem to be already doing)? Once in a while, when truly necessary, you can then go to the doctor and pay a la carte.
Because it is required by law. If you do not buy it, you still have to pay a penalty and you get no insurance AND still have to pay.
Great video!! This helped me so much!! Thanks for the tips
I'm glad! =D
You are right! I think the premium depends a lot on your personal situation.
What kind of camera do you use for your videos? The image is amazing!
List of my equipment here: www.amazon.com/shop/beatthebush
You must not use air conditioner if your electric bill is so low.
There is no need for it here.
Gotcha, for some reason I thought you lived in California haha.
Depends where in CA. I do live in CA but not in areas where you need AC.
I'm pretty sure that county I'm in has a minimum charge for electricity
Nice job. I can only dream of expenses this low with a family of 4. What about mortgage, property taxes and property insurance?
Would love to know your opinion about house-rent investing for passive income. Thanks for all the tips for saving!
Renting your own house or what do you mean? It depends if you need it. Not renting it out is not as efficient and it's a luxury if you can afford it.
All we've seen of Snorelax for a while now is his feet. Is he okay?
Lol... Snorlax is too lazy to get it it seems.
Health insurance here, employer pays a bigger part.
Thanks. Great breakdown of expenses!
It don't see these posts: car depreciation, car taxes, scooter depreciation, scooter taxes, home maintenance.
I only included some things, not everything. Usually stuff that is easy and portable to compare.
Everyone always talks about the "rat race" but in my opinion, cutting down on unnecessary expenses is equally as important. Great video as always beatthebush
Equally, yup. Plus it's not hard once you have the system working.
What kind of cell phone plan
A free one. th-cam.com/video/W7CKRKiZx4I/w-d-xo.html
R u allowed to move some food from parents fridge to own fridge?
Where'd you get your scooter?
Bought it locally.
Investment websites meaning brokerages? That's just expenses right now. We'll have to see what the future holds.
BeatTheBush Yes wanted to know if you have videos where you’ve talked about any of them like e-trade etc
Fabiola Antoine if he has a family - i'll feel bad for them. 10 dollars for them to spend
That's #1.
No internet ?
Its in there.
Beatthebush are you moving out San Francisco area since the cost of living getting worse in your area. Move at Texas
I am not planning to move any time soon.
I pay 200 dollars for two cars at nationwide here in Columbus Ohio. I’ve shopped around and geico wants to charge me 256 a month...🙁🙁🙁 any tips?
Comparison shop. Not everyone will have the cheapest at one place. They do different kinds of rates depending on your risk factors.
My donkey related expenses have been increasing at a rate of approximately 33% per year. Do you think it would be a smart move to upgrade to a horse?
Make no sense!
Hey BTB... Ouch ! Health insurance is squeezing your budget ! Have you looked into the medical sharing programs (medishare, samaritan, etc) ? ....you could probably knock about another $130 off what you're now paying... They basically work just like the high deductible policies you used to be able to get before (un)affordable care act was passed.... only downside is that they don't cover pre-existing conditions.
do a video on your scooter
Here is my scooter in a vlog: th-cam.com/video/gLatTFKCpVI/w-d-xo.html
How can u pay so little for car insurance? I barely drive yet GEICO charges $110/month! And that was cheapest could find. Have u heard of root car insurance? Would love a video bout it...
Old car probably and good record.
Beatthebush you make less 117k a year you are considering low income in San Francisco. You don’t have to work since you are considered are poor in San Francisco area
I guess I am low income now. Probably in poverty lol.
You can be qualified in food stamp and free housing
Where’s the gym at though?
Amazing how you can keep such a low burn rate, absolutely inspiring. About housing, do you rent or own? Have plans on purchasing a home? (It isn't necessary to own a home imo but I wonder what your thoughts are)
I own. =D
What's your total monthly budget not including rent or mortage
I don't have a budget. th-cam.com/video/VaifMqW8um8/w-d-xo.html
Buy prepaid garbage bags and start recycling. Mine costs $1 a month for trash
Hey BTB, do you do your own taxes or use an accountant/CPA?
$160/ month for groceries & dining out is amazingly low. Very impressive.
=D Eating fresh food, never processed does it.
I'm the same way. My girl hates it. I told her that she is more then welcome to pay for anything she wants. I must confess, I do pay for wifi...
Wifi? You mean internet? Oh I see, she lives with you but you don't buy much of the added services.
