I swear I thought this would end with Garnet looking down on a crying Rose and then have Rose saying something like "so that's what the future holds for us," which would've made this comic possible like so many comics that have turned out to be predictions of the show. Without that it remains a nice dark AU. Continuation? A grieving Rose meets an adult withdrawn Dr. Connie.
I imagined when a gem dies it's similar to how a boss monster dies in undertale where their appearance turns to dust/smoke and their gem gives one last fight to stay together before shattering
Yeah but gems don't slowly turn into dust and stay alive for a few moments just to give a last fight. Neither do boss monsters. Undyne's death was like that because of the determination she was able to obtain. No other monsters were able to do that.
