You're a life long roses fan now after listening to that masterpiece. Squire used a 59 les paul for that album

Got to love the roses when the drummer is the best singer in the band .Don't mean it as a put down either Ian brown is definitely the frontman.

And THE best drummer from Britain over the past 40 years in my opinion.... listen to the the isolated drums in this song if in doubt, or elephant stone... amazing

Hard to explain to anybody, who wasn’t around at the time, the different sound between the two albums. So much changed in the 5 years that passed (band dynamics after what they went through getting out of their protracted contract, personal lives, changes in the music scene by the mid 90s) A lot to understand. Obviously the whole of Second Coming was a John Squire driven album, derived from his love of Led Zeppelin. It would be nice to know how bothered the other members actually were about making the album, as to let Squire influence every aspect of the sound... still it is a quality album with superb songs... but lost in significance due to the emergence of Oasis and Brit pop. This, added due to the complete shift change in sound makes it easy to not like

This album is influenced by Led Zeppelin, would be good to do some reactions on Led Zep, The Rover is a personal favourite song. Happy new year!

Takes a few listens to appreciate a stunning album. the depth of this album compared to the first album, which is also a phenominal one at that, is chalk and cheese to me. Probably more accessible is the first album, but that's the secret, and why the real long term Roses fans edge towards this album as no 1 of the 2 ;-)

As much as i love this, and how amazed we were at getting new Roses material in 94, my favourite on the album is Tightrope. Lines blurred between ‘old and new’ Roses on that track and the lyrics are mystically beautiful.
    Amen 🙏🏻
