Missed this channel. Hope you recover well johnathan
Im not an apple guy, so I dont usually watch Mac Adress much. But I really appreciate that LMG put this video on ice, as long as you where recovering and let you finish this project without dropping you, the channel, or just this video.
Happy to see you back.
Lying Linus generally doesn't intervene in the decision making of the secondary channels, it's up to the directors of each channel to
You didn't directly SAY you crashed because you were trying to ride with the vision pro on, but we can read between the lines.
How suspicious, Gordon Ramsay also had a motorcycle accident, has anyone seen these two together in the same room? I think not.
At least they were both wearing a helmet!
Ramsay was on a bicycle
that roblox guy that hates furros also had a motorcycle accidente
Ruben, right?@@Alfenium
I also had an accident last month 🤔
So glad to see you're ok, Jonathan. Glad to see you back at it. I absolutely love the cinematography on this channel. It sets it apart from the regular LTT videos.
I tried the Vision Pro in the store. It was like a roller coaster: I had a lot of fun, was very impressed, but was a little sore after and was glad to be back to reality again. You're absolutely right saying there is nothing to do (at least after the demo).
On motorcycling
Glad you're okay and that you were wearing a helmet. I've been riding with an airbag vest for a while now. Might be worth it if you plan to keep riding. Stay safe and feel better.
Tried it as well (as a Quest 3 owner) and the fact that it is trying to be a half arsed PC really makes it useless. Apple VR would make more sense if I could use it wirelessly on my mac and use it as a larger display.
@@PortfolioPLyou can use the Vision Pro with your Mac as if it were your monitor. You may need a real monitor, at least for initial setup. The connection has been reportedly hit or miss.
10:58 to answer your question ... I do have a Vision Pro and the simple answer is ... I don't really use it. Did some development on it when I first got it but found its APIs limiting... It sits in my closet now waiting for a bored weekend when I'll watch 20 minutes of AppleTV on there before ditching it and going to my 4K monitors. This thing is a novelty to a degree I did not expect. I think its weight and comfort are hands down the biggest problem for it. Every time I think "ooo I'll go do X on my AVO" I instantly think about how uncomfortable it is and just ditch the idea.
I am not a fan of Jonathan getting screwed like that…I’m here all week, and please try the fish
There being "nothing to do" is the same reason my Meta Quest 2 has been hanging on my wall for these past 2 years. VR and AR are such ridiculously cool technology that people have done the bare minimum amount of app development for. There's also just like no creativity in most games and apps because they're mostly clones of each other
I think everyone is kind of waiting on the hardware to get to a magical point when everyone will want to experience VR. Right now it is still a cool toy for enthusiasts to dream what it will be like when it really gets good.
Yeah, there is kind of a point where you hit "okay, I've done basically everything I want to do"
barrier to entry is too high on both sides of the isle. I have a feeling this goes the way of 3D TVs
Basically yeah. Even regular screens for nonvr (Monitors, TVs, phone screens) basically do nothing that impressive or really useful just let you see stuff or interact for touchable ones.
Its difficult to really have 'that wow' factor, for instance Spatiallabs, LookingGlassFactory, Leia Inc, among others do glasses free 3D displays but, some divide exists that prevents a few of those from 'just working' similar to issues with their prices especially for companies like Tilt5's 3D thing using a wand... that accelerates beyond even being reasonable after a few more kits of glasses for multiplayer... even weirder Tilt5 could solve that multiplayer price issue 'simply' by using LookingGlassFactory's many multi-angles at once display approach... yes its still high but plateaus quicker.
At least the quest has games to play.
I have an educational software suite that is mostly used with iPads and computers. I prototyped a VR version during COVID, but what I found was that the users who saw the most benefits from VR learning grew out of it quickly and then moved to 2D. I love the idea of the Vision Pro, but I just don't know what to do with it yet.
One of the biggest issues with VR in an educational/ institutional training setting is the issue of glasses, as Jonathan touched on. It’s not reasonably affordable to have custom prescriptions inserts for every user, especially since those would need to be updated annually and would likely quickly get lost or damaged.
A 2D screen, even if it potentially offers a far inferior experience for a simulated training environment vs VR, is likely going to be the preferred option for years to come.
i still havent seen any VR learning app that either cant compete with a youtube video, or is done in way that it seems amazing, but you learn kinda slower(kinda like reading a book vs listening an audiobook)
2:56 Q3 got an update fixing the warping issue a week ago (v66)
Glad to see that your ok Jonathan
Welcome back. Your the best addition to LMG since Ive been here (2018)
Mac Address videos are just in another level
The warping on the Quest 3 doesn’t look that bad as of today. The updates that Meta has been pushing are making the product visibly better.
Especially for the price comparison 🤯
You're much better off getting a full PCVR setup for the price, at least then you'll have VR games to play and can still use the PC for many other things.
Like a meta quest 3 or 3 and connected to the cable
But it won't have an Apple logo, so you won't look as cool!
passthrough on quest 3 has had an update that DRASTICALLY improves the warping
Glad you're doing better. Missed the beautiful outdoors shots.
Passthrough warping on the quest has actually been fixed on V66
Glad to hear you're alright, and glad that you're alright. I was just thinking about how this channel hasn't had any new videos lately.
Welcome back!!! Glad to see you're recovering well.
I do have a Vision Pro (I splurged on one as a graduation gift for myself because I've always wanted a piece of first-gen technology) and I love it, actually! I don't use it every day but I do love using it for work. I'm easily distracted in my newsroom so it helps to be able to just turn a dial and be in an isolated space where I can focus on what I need to do. It's also great for music, for TH-cam of course, and just generally not feeling like I'm trapped in a dorm room.
Glad youre ok, missed the content, im happy its back!
I do wish this had a catch up segment after the main video, especially as the Meta Quest 3 is thinning out reasons to specifically go for the Vision Pro, outside of pricing and hardware differences. But its totally understandable due to injury and needing to be keeping up with TH-cam's algorithm.
Welcome back and glad to hear you are in good health following the accident! Super missed this channel and your type of writing and presentation.
Glad that you’re back and healthy! Did at one stage question the lack of new videos but all makes sense now. Cheers to more content from my favourite Apple-centric channel
Oh man, sorry to hear about your crash! Hope you are feeling better and can get back on the bike soon!
Happy to see your videos back in my feed! So glad you are doing well after the accident Jonathan!
"Controllers? Eugh!" might be the most Apple Fan thing I've heard yet. Welcome back, Jonathan. Glad you're doing better!
Hand tracking is just as 'eugh' in different contexts. My hands don't have force feedback motors or buttons. The tactile experience is very limiting with only using your finger pads.
Funny how watching someone plucking at the air is infinitely more lame than a couple of floating controllers like the knuckles.
It’s a reference to Steve Jobs saying “Stylus? Yuck!” at the iPhone launch
@@macaddressit's crazy how his vision for apple and his presenting style still impacts the ethos of the company
@@ImTotallyTechyIt's a rare case where the founders vision was so strong that even them dying doesn't stop his company following it.
Good to have you back, glad your recovery is going well!
Quest 3 had a firmware update. Not sure what version is he on. But the passthrough significantly improved.
That is correct, the first update significantly improved the ISO/overexposure so that you can look out of windows, check the screen of your smartphone/tv/monitor and the last update basically solved the warping issue.
So glad to have you back and glad your injuries weren’t too severe. Motorcycle accident sounds terrifying
I hope you were not wearing the Vision Pro while riding your motorbike for some crazy video test! Joke aside, I wish you a speedy recovery and total health. Your content is a very refreshing outlook on Apple tech. Bless you, little one.
I am glas you are recovering well. Missed this channel and miss you making appearances on other LLT channels, welcome back Jonathan!
Glad you’re ok bro. I love this channel!
Welcome back and hope your recovery has been good!
Welcome back and I hope you feel better. Love the videos!
Glad you're back! I love the detail that you use an aspect ratio in your videos that doesn't interfere with the dynamic island / notch compared to LTT videos!
You noticed! 😃
Siiighh this was a great and precise review. Personally I love my AVP, you’re not wrong when you mention its role as a consumption device. Listening to music, web browsing, video watching. All of which I thoroughly enjoy doing in headset. I think the big deal for me is that this headset has been habit forming all these months later I use it nearly just as much as day one. That’s a lot better than my Quest devices which at best devolved to Beat Saber machine come month 3. Glad to have you back!!!
Nice video and thanks for sharing the personal info about your absence! It's great to see you back.
Glad to see you recovered well, Jonathan.
I am not an Apple fan for several reasons, but your videos are always so nice to watch!
I was wondering why I hadn't seen a video for a while... Sorry to hear it was because of injury, but I'm just as glad to hear you're recovering well!
As for the Vision Pro, the look you have when taking it off at about the halfway point is very telling about the experience of wearing one. And the lack of things to do with it is also a massive weakness. Even if I had the disposable income to buy one, I probably wouldn't because it's just... an expensive paper weight right now.
Welcome back Jonathan! Great to see you on the channel. Hope your recovery goes smoothly.
All the best on your recovery, bike accidents hurt. Took me a year to walk again after one. Hope your body heals up great.
Really want Vision Pro to work and replace my monitors at work with virtual more flexible ones but weight and comfort are going to be a big issue. Some of the Ar glasses look promising from a weight/comfort but need a lot of work on software.
That’s crazy! A year to get back to walking sounds brutal. I’m healing alright, in the final stage where things are like 95% and I’m not sure if we’ll make the last 5%.
Yeah the weight is a shame.
Sorry to hear about the accident, glad to see your doing well now. 👍
Good to hear that you are doing better again. I hope you make a full recovery and don’t have any lasting problems with your shoulder!
I tried one at the store last week and had the same experience. I felt the only real use that was compelling was taking video and photos you can later watch and experience through the headset. But I also felt those photos and videos would acquire most of their impact after many years (eg: viewing a video of your child when they were smaller or a video of a deceased loved one). And at that point, I imagine the relatively low quality and friction in how to let others experience the same photos/video may be distracting or impossible to overcome.
Man the Quest's UI sucks but i felt it sting when Jonathan said it looks "cartoony". At least I can play Beat Saber!
I'm glad you're ok Jonathan. Hope you're recovery continues well ❤
I am glad to hear you are recovering from your injuries. Sounds painful. I am glad you are well enough to be back.
glad you're doing better! welcome back
Good to see you back. Glad your feeling better!
I'm very glad to have you back. I have missed you and hope for your full and swift recovery. Take the time you need to rest and regain your strength.
Glad to have you back, Jonathan! I’m just here to say I’m very inspired by your filmmaking style. It’s very unique and the scenery elevates it from other, “sit/stand in a room and talk about a thing” reviews.
It’s also more fun to do!
Glad you're okay! Good to have you back!
I only want one so I can consume imax content. It is a massive expense just for one function but there’s really no other way to consume imax content at home without a whole theatre system
I'm ashamed I didn't mention this but the field of view is quite narrow. So there will be a bit limit to how much IMAX screen you can see at a time.
@@macaddress you did mention this around 7:15. Maybe didn't emphasize as much
@@macaddress it’s not about the size of the screen. It’s the format in and out of itself. But thanks for the heads up. Will keep in mind
All the best for your continued recovery!
I’m glad you’re back on the channel (didn’t want to say on the road).
Naturally we missed you terribly, but here we are, enjoying some more of Jonathan and a quality video.
Glad you are back and doing well!
Man, sorry to hear about the bike accident, but glad you’re recovering and welcome back.
Love your content. I am glad you recovered well.
The GOAT of transitions is back! Hope your recovery is going well!
Sorry you got into an accident but happy to see a fellow rider, on a sport bike no less. Hope you keep riding and stay safe
Welcome back, mate. I'm glad you recovering nicely.
Glad you are ok! Welcome back!
Good to have you back dude, great video
We’re Happy to see you doing well please take more time to recover if you need it
Glad to see you back
Glad to see you well, Jonathan! Welcome back!
Glad you're back and getting fit.
Good you are safe. Good to have you back.
Few notes from using the Vision Pro for a month:
- Totally agree on the "nothing to do in here" part, my main use case is Mac virtual display and that can also be solved with larger external displays unless I'm traveling
- I've actually gotten pretty fast with the virtual keyboard.
- With the dual loop head band and some training, I'm comfortable wearing the thing for hours at a time.
- Agreed on the issue with not enough space, though it's somewhat improved by setting the scaling to small.
- Spatial FaceTime is pretty cool, it really feels like I'm in the same space as the other person.
- I wish it had more real world applications, like AR pedestrian navigation, visual lookup, translation, etc.
glad youre OK.
I am glad you are back. Actually at one point of time that I miss your videos.
Glad to see you're okay!
Dude, Jonathan, very glad you are feeling better and recovering! Was wondering what had happened to part 2. :)
Ok jonathan
🤠
Beautiful video! You should do a video at Sapperton Landing park, its really beautiful in the summer 🌞
Get well soon! Your videos are the best!
Welcome back! You have the most interesting Apple centric videos. Great work!
Really LOVE the different "story telling" on this video.
Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad to hear you're recovering well! Shout out to the safety gear for doing its job 🙌
It also had the interesting unintended consequence of actually being able to look back at this device after the majority of the hype has died down. Makes for a fresh perspective!
Glad to see you back!
Welcome back my good man! As a fellow motorcycle accident (actually MANY accidents...sigh...) survivor, I wish you a fast recovery. Always great to see your take on Apples latest "great NEW innovation" 😁
Big win for ltt! So excited to know you could recover and step back in when you were ready.
Stay safe. Good job dressing for the slide.
But not the smash somehow, looking at getting an Air Bag vest
I was wondering why you hadn't made a video for this yet. I'm glad you're ok and back!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you're fine!
I did wonder. Glad you're ok!
Welcome back! Really enjoy the content.
Glad to have you back Jonathan, if I must say, I think the experience of the Vision Pro would be a lot more fun if it came with a glove-like accessory to give our hands a nice feedback when using it
5:40 you obviously didn’t have the procedure in America 😂😂
Speedy recovery. I knew something was off because there was no MA video. Thanks for the Vision Pro review :)
jonathan’s back!! very cool and good
glad you're okay!
I am happy you're alive
Great to see you getting better Jonathan! 🎉
That tree transition was great,
Thanks conor and ken,
Hopefully you are recovered well after you're accident jon,
Think it's important to remember on a motorcycle you are extremely vulnerable to other road users who don't realise you are there on the road because they are distracted on their phones or tapping on car infotainment screens then because of that they are save in their car or pickup truck and you as motorcycle licence holder are in hospital,
When driving, I see people looking down constantly! I want to honk at them.
I was worried that LTT had pulled the plug! Glad you're ok and back!!
Man I would riot. This is far and away their best channel.
Missed you my guy . Tried finding any of your socials to see if you had any life updates 😭
Glad to see your oka
I have a Vision Pro and he’s mostly correct although I love it and I use at almost everyday there isn’t much to do in it other than what you can do on an iPad 3d movies are amazing. I’m glad I was able to experience a first gen product and am exciting to see where they take it and the next gen product.
It’s great you’re using it regularly!
