- I'm back baby!
The new workshop is in a functional state, and I'm slowly cranking through my backlog of client repairs. Before I finish the workshop completely and shoot a video on that subject, I figured I'd go back to my roots and show off a complete restoration of a clients camera from the ground up.
In today's episode I overhaul an incredibly crusty SX-70 Model 2.
This video demonstrates the de-skinning process, opening the camera up, viewfinder panel repair, electric eye cleaning, 600 conversion, motor refurbishing and i-Type modification.
Like what I do? Feel free to buy me a beer (or two!):

Getting artifacts in the video? For best quality, manually select 1080p quality, as depending on your bandwidth, TH-cam may default to 720p - and TH-cam's 720p compression looks like garbage

Released as a cost-reduced variant of the standard SX-70, the Model 2 is basically the exact same camera, but with ABS plastic body panels and synthetic leather instead of genuine leather.
It is just as capable as its chrome brothers and sisters, and can often be purchased cheap due to the leather always crumbling away over time.
In this video, I emphasize the need to properly refurbish these cameras, not merely just re-skin them, as mechanical issues are deeper than just the superficial appearance!
