Not listened yet and can already hear the SILENCE of Cold Mountain. Precious personal time in my Voyage as this is my Life's Work sphere.... And, nearly every member of my family celebrate our birthdays in the solar light of this week's Pulse of the 24th.
Thank you for this series. Loved Julian of Norwich (well, I've loved her for years), Rilke, and this one especially. I listened to it last night and it inspired a poem this morning, completely unlike my usual Western poems. What is left after lies have been swept away, after the Gracious Self has pardoned each movement of water passing o're the riverbed? What remains beyond the squabbles, the flaws, the dances of forms that didn't know their sustenance, their root and seed was Light? What is left is emptiness of a bowl with nothing. Hush, there is a tone within the void. What's left is Love.
A few days ago I was explaining to a friend that each time my mind gets too busy, I slow down and feels like a mountain, the mineral. Becoming the silent witness of generations of human beings going through birth and death, love and hate, peace and war…then I dive into the silent timeless void. Then I came across this video ! A pure crystal treasure. Thanks for this moment 🙏🏻
The quiet path into Cold Mountain is a treasure filled journey where you have magically lead us inward into that deep silence where life is born! Thank you, Richard, for knowing how to land us in that sacred well of inspiration where our minds are cleared and our hearts over-flowing! Lovely experience.XX
Thank you Richard for this beautiful and tranquil contemplation. ☺️❤️ I didn't pay much attention to the multiple layers of meanings of one single Chinese word until you mentioned it. Today in the sacrament of Adoration, I thought of a Chinese verb "ti", which is "to bring up" in English, either to "carry, lift up" (by hand), or to "mention" (by words). It reminds me the pun story "two monks and a lady" that I would like to share: A senior monk and a junior monk were traveling together. They came to a river with a strong current. As the monks were preparing to cross the river, they saw a beautiful young lady attempting to cross. The lady asked if they could help her cross to the other side. The two monks glanced at one another because they had taken vows not to touch a woman. The junior monk politely refused. On the other hand, the older monk picked up the lady, carried her across the river, placed her gently on the other side, and carried on his journey. The two monks keep walking for an hour or so without a word between them. Two more hours passed, then three, finally the junior could not resist and blurted out “As monks, we are not permitted to touch a woman, how could you then carry that woman on your shoulders?” The older monk looked at him and laughed , “Brother, I put her down miles ago, and you are still carrying her.” May God bless you with Peace with his presence of Silence. ☺️🙏
Oh wow, I'm truly into this Rivers and Mountains nothingness and the pause you mentioned here. So precious. Thank you for this opportunity to dive into what I cherish the most.

It is just me, but I always find the use of the word "God" difficult because the term has been so abused by what has been projected into it. I am a technical a-theist since I don't use the word "God" or project an image into that envelope. I find beliefs to be the antithesis of naked apprehension. I walk the woods, I listen to wolves at night, and loons calling in the morning fog. I hear the whispers of zephyrs through the trees - which is to say I understand the ecstatic states upon which are built religious forms; I just refuse to be held in a cell made out of words and of fears projected by an ego that is desperately afraid that it is an epiphenomena floating upon a great, quiet and fathomless sea. In every other respect I am fond of this talk, and as I said it is just my issue with a word that gets so overloaded with so much. One Knot for me One moment here, the next I'm gone. Without refrain; a noteless song. I see the sun, I drink the sky. When it doth set; I shall die. A beautiful woman, a soaring bird. Without a breath; not a word. High I soared, my time ran out. A great oak tree; I hang about. Time's hangman pulls, the door flaps. The rope goes taut; my neck snaps. A woman sits, beneath the tree. She knits souls; one knot for me.
Thanks Nicholas, I appreciate your comments. I agree that many words have been hijacked down the years for all kinds of uses...I rather enjoy reclaiming them and breathing new life back into them!
@@gene_keys You have picked a very tough mission. In my experience, poetry and music are the best way to use words to erase themselves - as states displace the chatterbox. Or, to use a Sufi analogy; words are the veils that the groom parts to reach his beloved. The veils - no matter how beautiful - flutter to the floor. (And here I am using words; what am I to do? Wait, I know! "Lark Ascending" by Vaughan Williams played by Nigel Kennedy ... th-cam.com/video/yU-1zqUo80U/w-d-xo.html )
A reminder to embrace change.

The ecstasy of silence yet you can’t trust the words themselves and feel compelled to play music behind them - so we can’t hear them in silence.
The heart, silence, love. What treasure's.
