My eyes filled with tears a few times during this book, sometimes I couldn't stop crying. I was crying for my inner child. People, never forget your inner child. We are all children, after all, longing for love and laughter.
My whole life I've been neglecting reading. Only recently at the age of 17 have I come to see the true value in it. Although I realize the potential value in powerful books such as "Man's search for meaning", I struggle to grasp the potential and the lessons. Starting from tomorrow I will no longer read a book simply for the sake of reading a book, but to actually learn something, I will take notes, and perhaps, write an essay.
Oh how much I relate to this! I just turned 18 and I've never read many books before. I've started reading just recently, and I'm trying to explore all the different genres. But again, not just for the sake of reading. I want to understand and read what has an impact on me.
We can find happiness in small and simple things. My favourite is watching nature, the simply existence of plants and animals. First, like an outsider, and then realizing, that I am a part of it. It gives me so much joy, peace and the sense of fullness and balance. It's like meditation, clears my mind, recharges me fully.
I couldn't help but get goosebumps every time I hear her calming voice quote something from the book or read her reflection on the book. Her expressiveness is insanely amusing, and I could honestly listen to it all day.
Sure I can feel some degree of joy from achieving goals, but to me true happiness is in the moments I share with others I love. All of the passion in the world for what makes me happy, like playing music, shooting film, etc. is great, but to do it with others I care about greatly exceeds doing it alone.
For me, happiness is a state of mind that I achieve when I choose to bring the notion that I can make the decision to either grow or not grow, moment to moment, to the forefront of my consciousness.
The quote at 5:40, also the one before that... I saw that completely differently, I feel it's about how what ends up being meaningful for us is simply what we have invested a lot into it, and that doesn't mean that isn't valid. Even if in reality the meaningful person or thing for us isn't maybe objectively "special", we can choose to see it that way anyway, and it will enrich us as such.
I've loved The Little Prince since I was a little boy. It is starkly tragic and mysterious and inspires one to think deeply. It made me wonder. I like that it's far more than run-of-the-mill children's books.
Finally got around to reading this book. Finished it in about 2/3hrs. Philosophical & whimsical, it was super light to read. Those were some of my favourite quotes too!
Religiosity. Yawn. You cannot exist outside the knowing of God. All things you do are within the nature of God. Finding God within oneself is the only time a person will find that 'rest' spoken of.
Happiness comes from solving problems because life is constantly new challenges moving into our lives. The better we get at it, the more prepared we are, is how we become wise and self secure. But having the know how, preparation, and security with solving problems is happiness.
a time wasted on a rose is a time given with passion , hope and patience to nurture it and waiting for it shine. that's why it is valuable like a parents child. i absolutely enjoyed your way of the book review, please do more. ah yes gratitude is happiness nothing else
I'm happy to be French so I can read the book in its original version. My reading habits are that I choose great books, or textbooks, I begin a lot of them, in some cases I go to the end. I read generally in French, sometimes in English and I've begun to read in Spanish. I know I should write.
Loved the video so much, your voice tone is so relieving, happiness in life means for me achieving profound knowledge and understanding how the universe works, what it is made of, who are we and why we do what we do, the relation between human and nature etc.. My advice for you all is to sit down and think for yourself about what really brings you happiness, strive for it or at least try to! Once again I just want to say thank you lana you've been such an inspiration for me, I might have looked away to the other side from some of the little yet meaningful, life-changing thoughts which fortunately I could grasp on them back with you! My love❤️
Yes! Love your "review-ish" video! I suppose I'm happiest when I know I've lived up to my responsibilities and the people I care about are happy and safe. Watching your videos makes me happy on some level also. Pls keep up the good work!
Happiness in one sentence? The ever evolving, never ending living quest, subject to change as one learns more about their ever evolving character. A bit late for a response but that is what I found happiness to mean. What makes me happy today will eventually change. Learning a new piece on the piano makes me happy. Two years ago I would had said, I don’t even have a piano. Favorite book quote-“I am a serious man.” , but he is not a man at all, he is a mushroom. I don’t know why but that quote makes me smile, and was unexpected.
Happiness is a state of mind of feeling comfortable regardless of what situation we are in. p.s. that “we waste our time on a rose” is a strong message for me, I feel regret for wasting my time but I also dont at the same time, I’m so confused on ehat I should feel about this, sometimes maybe I really did waste my time and Im just saying i dont because of pride and sometimes i feel im just overthinking it too much ugh.
Happiness perhaps is a reward when people finally achieve their goal after a long-term sacrificial striving. However, it shouldn't be the fundamental motivation of people's life, as explained by Jordan B Peterson in his book: " In a crisis, the inevitable suffering that life entails can rapidly make a mockery of the idea that happiness is the proper pursuit of the individual", "that a deeper meaning was required".
True happiness for me means to be content with what I have and never expecting anything from others, being capable to help someone or having a purpose, knowing that what I am contributing to the world is good and hoping that it brings change in someones life is true happiness. It doesn't mean my happiness depends on other people, It's just about doing what makes me happy.
A final thought on your presentation here: marvelous. Again, you have brought out in a most delicate and artful way the issues of human culture: the mix between money and spirituality, between wealth and happiness. And remember: money brings power and influence. So as you are a moral and ethical person, you have the potential to influence political decisions which impact us all. Do we want to live in a moral and ethical world? If the answer is "yes" we are going to need a lot of people like you who are wealthy and influential by their wealth to keep us on the "right" path. And remember humans often make the right decision to live a moral life, but not always. We are "flawed" characters because we were not designed by Nature to be perfect, just adequate to survive. So we are constantly striving to guide humanity towards the path of morality and ethical behavior. It is a task, never-ending, and essential. Lana you are a great "professor" and teacher. You are a precious value to the human race. Thank you again for a thought provoking and soul searching conversation.
For me, happiness is something that we have to build day by day. For me, it is also related to our mental health, if it's good everything is going to be good too, or else if it's not... You know the answer. Our brains are such a king in our lives. It controls everything that is going to happen to us. So, If we get ourselves improved as we have a lot of flaws, we are going to see the world with different eyes.
This was lovely :) After I've read a book or watched a movie, I usually write down the main thing I take away from it. I remember when I was younger I would use the blank pages in the back of the books and write down what I liked lol. What makes me the happiest is knowing that a loving God cares for us and truly fulfills us. Also spending time with people I love. For my birthday the main gift I always want is an experience, just having fun with my family. Music and writing makes me happy as well. As I've grown up, I'm learning that the world's ideas of what life should be don't give me joy or it's fleeting. I hope that you and everyone who watches this video find true happiness unique to yourselves! :)
It is a really good story and your thoughts were very pure. My last words to my love when I said goodbye to her were "I will no longer carry my rose with me although I loved it with all my heart and cared for it with all my passion for many years." It was a tough breakup.

I've already read this book multiple times, in my maternal language, in english and some of the Quotes even in original. Every time, this book gives me a different view of understanding it and interpreting and that's why I treat it with that much respect and value. As for the second quote- right now I'm in a period of my life when I feel like everyone around me is extremely judgemental and that trully triggers me. They just care about people's looks, how pretty one Is, whether or not are they fat, but never think of how much this person could Have gone through, what Is their full Story, what period of their life they're experiencing and neither think about what Are these people's emotions And feelings.
Contentment Happiness Joy Most people confuse these, conflate them.... However, each ones meaning pertains to that persons life experiences and what memories they may have...
Note: Yeah...I wrote way too much. What we value is informed by our goals. And when our goals are realized, we find a brief measure of happiness (satisfaction in the face of fulfilled objectives) in their completion. Whether that happiness lasts beyond the fulfillment of goals depends on the nature of the goals themselves: happiness with the acquisition of skills, relationships, or objects all depend on what exactly those things do for you. Case in point, money cannot comfort you from the inevitability of your death. It might promise to stall it for a time, but everyone, rich or poor, is equal in the fact that they will all eventually die. Likewise, great jobs cannot comfort you from the pain of personal loneliness brought by one's own lack of social grace. Rare is the person that's satisfied by prestige or power alone: to this point in reference to Milton, Jordan Peterson made an excellent point, "You can be perfectly miserable in a house of gold". That makes personal relationships with other people the natural method by which individuals try to fulfill themselves; which makes it all the more devastating for them when those relationships are betrayed, sometimes even bringing them to the point of suicide and nihilism. At the very least, it can make individuals intensely cynical and despairing, which I would argue just deepens their problems even further. This isn't to say that personal relationships are worthless; merely that if you base your life on them, you are risking serious harm. Those who place faith neither in things or people try to pursue fulfillment in dedication to what they believe to be the highest value (if not for everyone, at least for them personally). This is how fervent political and religious advocates are created, the degree to which this is beneficial/detrimental ultimately depending on the nature of what they are advocating for. This is also why such groups tend not to do well when critiqued or interacting with a directly-opposing group: their core beliefs, the "why" by which they sustain any "how" is under threat, which in turn is a threat to those fundamental parts of their identity. Personally, I don't think happiness is something that people should focus on hugely for their lives. You should seek beneficial relationships, but not ground your well-being in them continuing to be such. You should pursue good job opportunities and be prudent in your financial affairs, but not take too much pride in how many zeros are in your account. And you should pursue good principles, all the while understanding that you are a flawed human being who might very well have picked the wrong ones, or interpreted them incorrectly. It's not perfect, and it won't lead you to a perfect, painless life. But honestly, that was never in the cards to begin with, and it's the best human effort can hope for. To try to reach (or worse, promise to others) beyond that is to try to grasp at utopia. To loosely paraphrase an online pastor who's have been analyzing Jordan Peterson lately, "those who try to bring down heaven, often bring up hell instead."
On the subject of happiness, I just finished watching Ricky Gervais latest series: after life. I loved it, it was so genuine, simple and realistic. In the series, he's a guy living in a small shitty town, surrounded by people he doesn't like, doing a job he no longer cares about and he just lost his wife of 24 years to cancer. He's desperate and suicidal and he goes on these rants about life, meaning and happiness. Check it out, it's a 6 episodes series on Netflix and perhaps tell us what you think.
Happiness is in action. Every successful action towards our goal. Ever lesson learnt on the way. The journey itself is happiness. Happiness is having a meaning. It's like I'm doing something real nd it's filling my life nd shaping me in a better way like never before. That's happiness for me.
Happiness isn't a specific concrete thing. It comes as a variety of little happinesses bundled together. It's a state of being. It's also not reproducible. The things that make one person happy don't make the other happy. It's something you search for and evaluate for yourself. That's not one sentence at all! The Little Prince has been on my to-read list for years, so I should get to that. Having an occasional book review video could be a good idea.
I liked your quote “In order to enjoy the presence of butterflies I must endure the presence of some caterpillars... patience and trust” I think in order to get what we really want we have to make sacrifices at first that may be difficult or painful IE ‘caterpillars’. It’s like when Jordan Peterson talks about how he knew he wanted to be a successful writer but he had to stop partying on the weekends so he could write the next day. Happiness I think is aiming at the Highest Good you can conceptualize, and it happens as you pursue that goal and even sustains you through the caterpillar attacks. Like the quote “It’s the journey, not the destination” that gives us happiness. But actually reaching goals in themselves doesn’t fully satisfy, there will be always another goal to pursue, another adventure, we never stop growing.
KING SAUL hmmm good point in that focusing on what you don’t have rather than what you have is not helpful, ie you have caterpillars but want butterflies. Surely in life we will go through seasons of abundance and seasons of drought, that’s inevitable, and a key lesson is to learn to be grateful during the droughts. However, it’s still important to have an aim, something to strive for or a goal, which also provides pleasure.
I love you. I have never found someone who I can relate to on this level. I’m literally in tears right now. Thank you. And thank you TH-cam for recommending this to me.
I thinkTo be happy is to be fulfilled. I think you can be happy, if you live as who you are and be accepted for that by those that count. Chase your dreams even if they are out of reach and hope for a better tommorow I'm trying to say preserverance, self awereness, freedom and acceptance and all those bittersweet feelings in between are neccasary ingredients for happiness I love the video and your selection of quotes
For me happiness it's just a simple emotion, where we don't think at all, we live and just have fun, that's why I'm not searching happiness but serenity, I think my "happiness" it's a medium serenity for my life/state of mind, ecc... By the way I love your videos, keep going 💜 (and I can't speak english sorry 😂💜)
In the one about a rose, I interpret the writer as possessive. Not necessarily in a bad way, though. He’s saying that his love is stronger since the bond that was started out of all the work and effort that went into the relationship.
I had a rabbit I cuddled petted each day for many years, he loved his life eat sang all day made the cutest sounds. His partner rabbit always kept close to him but she died and soon he stopped eating was bereaved and died too. Before burying him, the intensity of heat in my body when I touched looked at him was incredible' I had no guilt, all the years and hours of loving experience shared gave me feelings of sweet bliss and very warm tears. Having no regrets guilt or shame we carry in complex human relationships.
Enjoyed the video tremendously. I would say she lives a very rich mental life. Compared to her, I am such a simpleton. I can't say I have ever sat down and write down my thoughts after reading a book. Don't get me wrong. I am not a person who does not really read. I read a lot, I mean a lot. But, my reading is almost all in the natural science area, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science and above all, neuroscience; admiring the achievements of human intellect. I just bumped into her videos on TH-cam and her videos are mind opening for me. She is so young yet she really knows things about life and human nature. She is such a literature person. I am sure some day she is going to write some earth shattering books, or maybe she has written some already? Lana, God bless you!
I just finished the book and I was looking for people’s thoughts. To me the part about his rose being different because he nurtured it made me think of relationships. The most beautiful relationships are the one you take time nurture.
In a hyper-connected society, all that matters to us is other people's perceptions since we hear them all around us. Even though they are hollow, the voices define our life. Apart from that, what I believe is that Happiness is doing what you love.
For me it is imposible to define happiness in a single word or sentence because it’s everything, and because it is everything it a lot things, and it is not s single thing, so that is my conclusion of happiness
"The Little Prince" is a philosophy book about human life. It reminds us to keep creativity and imagination, to see the world in kid's view. What's essential is invisible. We have to see the world with heart. In my opinion, happiness is dependent on freedom, when I listening to the music, I am happy.
Great video, I love The Little Prince and try to give a copy to all my friends. You should read Leaf By Niggle (written by JRR Tolkien) I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.
I avoid thinking about happiness. If I am happy and think about happiness, it diminishes. I focus more on being responsible and doing the right thing. The by-product is happiness...as long as you don't ask yourself if you're happy.
For me happiness is when I feel contended and respected. Contended to all the things that I have and to the blessings that God gave me. I feel happy when people respected my opinion and who I' am as a person.
The book that I love sm that I read it everyday since I first read it I dont really get bored I cry often reading It has deep meaning and the words are so magical that makes me cry gives me goosebumps and pls I wanna flex this book💜
Happiness is an emotional response to an outcome. because we immediately raise it every time we attain it. See, happiness demands a certain outcome. It is result reliant. Joy, though, joy is a different thing. It’s something else. Joy is not a choice. It’s not a response to some result. It’s a constant. Joy is the feeling that we have from doing what we are fashioned to do, no matter the outcome.
Happiness for me is to be satisfied and to reach the Contentment level .. To be certain I want that to happen at least in my internal life in my mind .. one day hopefully..
My eyes filled with tears a few times during this book, sometimes I couldn't stop crying. I was crying for my inner child. People, never forget your inner child. We are all children, after all, longing for love and laughter.
saaaameeee.. i think i was crazy. glad i wasnt..
Inner child? Ur obviously not reading it properly

Define what happiness means to you in one sentence below.
Happiness is having in your life only what you need and love.
Sure I can feel some degree of joy from achieving goals, but to me true happiness is in the moments I share with others I love. All of the passion in the world for what makes me happy, like playing music, shooting film, etc. is great, but to do it with others I care about greatly exceeds doing it alone.

Always enjoy reading your comments John. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas!
I'll check it out. Thank you for sharing!
Happiness is in action. Every successful action towards our goal. Ever lesson learnt on the way. The journey itself is happiness. Happiness is having a meaning. It's like I'm doing something real nd it's filling my life nd shaping me in a better way like never before. That's happiness for me.
happy 80th anniversary, my little Prince.
"Little happinesses bundled together". That sounds so cute. Love it. And I highly recommend reading it.
One of my favorite books. Ever. Period.
Happiness is having both love and fulfillment in ones life.
I thinkTo be happy is to be fulfilled.
I think you can be happy, if you live as who you are and be accepted for that by those that count. Chase your dreams even if they are out of reach and hope for a better tommorow
I'm trying to say preserverance, self awereness, freedom and acceptance and all those bittersweet feelings in between are neccasary ingredients for happiness
I love the video and your selection of quotes
I love the book videos, please keep them coming
I wish I could connect to my inner child as much as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry did.
Beautifully said. I loved your interpretation!!
This is my favorite book OMG!!!! Thank you for giving us your input on this Ms. Lana!
I read it last year, it was very thought provoking, I might just read it again 😊
Girl your words are like poetry 💜
Man this book was a tear jerker. Subbed thanks for your video!
I just finished the book and I was looking for people’s thoughts. To me the part about his rose being different because he nurtured it made me think of relationships. The most beautiful relationships are the one you take time nurture.
I like the part that you always share yiur experience and knowledge to us
Happiness is swimming 🏊🏼♀️ in a clear ocean knowing you can keep going because you are strong enough to brave the current, without fear or regret.
In a hyper-connected society, all that matters to us is other people's perceptions since we hear them all around us. Even though they are hollow, the voices define our life. Apart from that, what I believe is that Happiness is doing what you love.
“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” perfectly describes the sunk cost fallacy
Happiness for me is quite different
Siting along side with my friend doing nothing just sitting
For me it is imposible to define happiness in a single word or sentence because it’s everything, and because it is everything it a lot things, and it is not s single thing, so that is my conclusion of happiness
"The Little Prince" is a philosophy book about human life. It reminds us to keep creativity and imagination, to see the world in kid's view. What's essential is invisible. We have to see the world with heart. In my opinion, happiness is dependent on freedom, when I listening to the music, I am happy.
Your channel is so valuable, wish you all the best, thank you ♥
Thank you Gen! xx
I loved this video ! Please do more of these if you wish ❤️
Its a good book to read
Great video, I love The Little Prince and try to give a copy to all my friends. You should read Leaf By Niggle (written by JRR Tolkien) I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.
I'll add it to my list. Thank you Judah!
The most beautiful book ever
Wonderful. They should make students read it in every school!
I avoid thinking about happiness. If I am happy and think about happiness, it diminishes. I focus more on being responsible and doing the right thing. The by-product is happiness...as long as you don't ask yourself if you're happy.
Please make more of this.
Happiness is the certainty that everything is okay, regardless.
For me happiness is when I feel contended and respected. Contended to all the things that I have and to the blessings that God gave me. I feel happy when people respected my opinion and who I' am as a person.
The book that I love sm that I read it everyday since I first read it
I dont really get bored
I cry often reading
It has deep meaning and the words are so magical that makes me cry gives me goosebumps and pls I wanna flex this book💜
Happiness to me is Freedom !
Happiness is true connection by being seen and seeing.
i love this a lot.
In my opinion happiness is everything
Every breath we take
Every day we met
Everything 😊
Happiness is an emotional response to an outcome. because we immediately raise it every time we attain it. See, happiness demands a certain outcome. It is result reliant.
Joy, though, joy is a different thing. It’s something else. Joy is not a choice. It’s not a response to some result. It’s a constant. Joy is the feeling that we have from doing what we are fashioned to do, no matter the outcome.
Wow, it touched
Will be ordering this book! Thank you Lana! 😀
Happiness for me is to be satisfied and to reach the Contentment level ..
To be certain I want that to happen at least in my internal life in my mind ..
one day hopefully..
