never been knocked out. if he would have fought liston with the same intensity as the second fight with ingemar and more intelligently i belive he would have caused trouble to sonny. patterson had insane speed and great skills, with that comes power to ko anyone. great champion and more than that great men. for me not in the top 10 heavyweights of all time but in the top 15 for sure
No way. the referee saved floyd from being knocked out each time. TKO is also knock out but gracefully saved by the referee. Afterall boxing ring is a sporting arena and not a gladiatorial arena. Sonny Liston was way too smart and mentally well prepared with the heart of a champion. Floyd has skill no doubt about it but beating him is beyond his capabilities.

i agree but i didn't said he would have beaten liston, just caused him trouble and maybe gone 6-8 rounds
